    Great to see trains running through there again!! Huge trestle down the line a little but further going over the Mighty Cape Fear River when the line comes into Lillington.

    Wow, last night I watched a video with a pair of narrow nose Dash 8s on another shortline, and today I get to see another! This is my week!

    Thanks for the video; it’s always a pleasure to see a new short line taking over a branch like this. A lot of the original Norfolk Southern Railway in central NC is rotting away; thankfully, it looks like this segment has a future. This sneaked up on me; I’d never heard of this railroad before, I guess because it’s so new. Thanks again for the video!

      It’s definitely a nice flare of change seeing this new shortline operation pop up! I’ve definitely enjoyed every moment of it - glad I get to share it with y’all! Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻

    I live in Fuquay-Varina but had never seen this from the Raleigh side so pretty awesome. Once they get out of Fuquay-Varina and head towards Lillington it has go to be the slowest moving trains I have ever seen in my life. I always wondered if it was because it was a deferred maintenance line and they had to move that slow.

    Another banging video! You’ve been killing it!8572 looks sharp in that RJ Red! Wish they had a similar operation close to me. Nothing but a switching op that barely comes out of private property.

      That 8572 has long been a favorite of mine, especially having grown up seeing it in Nashville for many years. Pretty sweet I got to “take” it with me to NC! Thanks for those kind words my man!

    The use of center beam flatcars to haul steel I-beams is pretty interesting. Never saw them used for that type of load before.

      Definitely sweet to see - would be cool to see in model form!

      @beeble2003 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me either, though they are being used for more different commodities, these days. Note that these aren't your standard centrebeam flat: there's no "roof" over the beam.

    • @michaeljohnson7493
      @michaeljohnson7493 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Me too. Evidently there’s good money in car storage for the CLNA, and the line between downtown and the coal hoppers in East Raleigh doesn’t look so good. I hope something changes.

    • @midnightexpress8556
      @midnightexpress8556 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaeljohnson7493 I agree I think those coal cars have been their for the better part 20 year so it’s kind of sad knowing how busy that line was at a time.

    • @rail.tennessee
      @rail.tennessee  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midnightexpress8556 sadly I doubt it’ll ever happen… there’s a large wash out that’s taken out a good portion of the line. Not to mention there’s very little “interested” customers along that stretch of the line… so the likelihood of that line seeing any action soon is very unlikely… as unfortunate as that is

      @@rail.tennessee Awesome, thank you. I went in Google Maps and found the Harnett transshipment site thanks to the overhead shot, but it's harder to get an overview of the entire line. Especially if you end up going into Fayetteville, that end and the connections are absolutely byzantine.

    Very interested for some one looking on from abroad can you explain the different class of lines l believe classes are A B C

    • @rail.tennessee
      @rail.tennessee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! So over here in the states we have a numerical class ranking system, so your Class I’s are the large scale, national railroads (i.e BNSF, CSX, etc), Class II’s are the intermediate railroads (i.e Montana Rail Link, Iowa Interstate Railroad, etc), and Class III’s are your shortline railroads, regional railroads such as the Raleigh & Fayetteville.

    where's the new railroad?all i see is Corman

    • @rail.tennessee
      @rail.tennessee  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, RJ Corman has individual railroads that make up the Corman family. The Raleigh & Fayetteville is one of them, becoming the 19th addition for RJ Corman. As a result, this railroad is a brand new shortline to service this region of North Carolina.
