    Formula One has never been free of controversy. It is nice to watch these interviews and remember how things were, for sure. In keeping things in perspective, however, things were much better then. No doubt.

    Great share👌The Senna/Prost rivalry was fascinating and it's also interesting to see Boutsen interviewed here, where he was ultimately disqualified along with Nannini after the season had ended, which meant Capelli unknowingly at the time scored his first podium here.

      not really
      prost said that senna was the future at the same time noone would expect that relationship
      senna was already very close to honda at lotus so it was a win-win for mclaren and honda
      piquet at that time was a veteran and his performance dropped since his accident at imola

      @yeshuahdenazareth7868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Mate, don't be fooled by one picture.
      Balestre was very severe with all drivers and he loved them all. His safety record is second to none.
      If you don't trut me, trust Senna; in 1991, when Balestre presented Ayrton with his third title, the Brazilian offered him a valuable present : his iconic yellow helmet. That was a gesture of gratitude and respect.

      @@yeshuahdenazareth7868 well an image says it all, piquet also in 91 usa gp podíum, joke Withn him and he didnt like it, yes he was severe and a little arrogant, that isn t good to any human being. I also like prost, but balestre tried to make equilibrium, when he doenst need to. Lots of accidents no deaths youre right.

      @@yeshuahdenazareth7868 Ok, anyway is quite known that Balestre (nationality and/or other reasons) had a more appreciation for Prost than for Senna.

    • @yeshuahdenazareth7868
      @yeshuahdenazareth7868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@alessio4832 That is an unfounded lie.
      Under Balestre Piquet won three titles (of which a dodgy one due to fuel quality) and Senna won three titles (of which one was acquired thanks to the dropping point system and another one thanks to a criminal move).
      Did Arnoux win a title? Did Tambay? Did Pironi? Did Alesi? All French and pretty good too, all racing under Balestre.
      Repeating a lie doesn't make it true
      The truth is that the best driver was Alain Prost. Every single relevant result shows it. Oh, and the second best was not Senna. It was Piquet.
      Yes. You read correctly. Piquest is the only driver to have won two titles without driving the best car. Prost and Schumacher managed 1 each. Senna only won while driving the best car.
      Now, if your favourite driver is Senna, you can worship him all you like but don't you dare pretend he was superior to Prost as he clearly is not. When Senna won his first title in 1988 he'd insisted Prosr was the best. In 1993, when Prost retired as a champion Senna admitted yet again that Prosr was the best he'd ever competed against. Prost regarded Senna as a fierce, fast, dangerous and special driver. He lost both his greatest rival and a friend.
      As to Balestre, he was devastated by Senna's death. In 1991, when Balestre presented Senna with his third and last title at the Automobile Club de France in Paris, Senna offered the FIA president his helmet.
      That rare gesture was a tribute, a mark of respect and admiration from Senna to Balestre.

  • @yeshuahdenazareth7868
    @yeshuahdenazareth7868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Extreme lucidity displayed by Prost.
    The point system forced him to drop many points and because the McLarens were so dominant and reliable only wins counted.
    Funny how Senna started at McLaren with a short haircut and then let it grow to match Prost's hair length 😂

    • @fedbet909
      @fedbet909 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah, the point scoring system was not good for Prost. He had only 2 dnf that yeas, the others are wins or second places.

      it is somewhat typical of all those truly dedicated to their profession or business. Scientists, artists, musicians, the strongest footballers, even politicians, lawyers etc after a certain level no longer pay attention to the physical aspect, they have no time and they lose interest in being attractive, clean, tidy, complacent.
