I follow the group since middle of the 80's. This concert was for me one of the best i can assist. Wonderful interpretation of La Folie. Always on the Sun !
Fantastic concert, really great, and I understand why The Stranglers are still big stars 40 years after their beginning in 1974 ! Long life to Them, And I'm sure they will continue to make us dreaming...

The body of work these guys will leave is exemplary. But the fact they shit-lorded it with live gigs just gives them an edge of kudos.

I've seen the stranglers times over the years and this is the best I've ever heard them. The sound mixing was superb. Very good recording.
I saw them at Reading festival 83. The sound was perfect then too. One of the few things I remember from that festival.

The Enid were bonkers , Dave Edmunds band was slick as heck , Thin Lizzys’ last show , Sabbath had Ian Gillan as singer - which pissed off a big greaser fan stood next to me for playing Smoke on the Water so he turned and walked away , Marillion were being Prog from ten years before , I caught mate Jed enjoying a copy of Men Only c/w gland in hand & the rest of it was many idiots burning plastic bottles wearing identikit cut off jackets . That’s my recollection 😁👍

We see them down at Alencon ,at le lucillo ,its only a small gig , but they played it though there was not much money in it for them , they are a TRUE PEOPLES BAND , who just want to make share good times and have fun and are very easy to talk too , NO big star thing !

Now, they are beginning to become not only a classic and unique band but also, as personnel blur, a transcendental idea. An idea of life and the grip on life that stretches across decades....

Wonder why ARTE CONCERT took this off their channel? Unless Stranglers made it into a dvd? I remember this tour, found the video clips so random but perfectly timed with the songs, especially Was It You, that's yet another song the Stranglers play so much better live, nowadays anyway now they are so raw. These guys play so much concerts, wonder if even they know how much gigs The Stranglers have played.

So you weren't at the Edinburgh gig when they offered the new album to anyone that would do a strip? And quite few willing SKANKS got up and almost did the business. You probably were not at Le Zenith in Paris either when a couple of Brits got stabbed for being in the front row before the Frogs, you probably were not at La Louviere in Belgium either.....so your standards of "Best Gig" are pretty relative.

Incredible. Does anyone know why they performed so many songs? Played for nearly 2 hours with the equavilent of 3 albums' worth of material.

Those who mention Hugh, he was great back in the day but if you think he'd be good now listen to him doing stranglers songs now. Not good I'm afraid.

When I hear waltz in black and the end of peaches I always think. Of the TV cook Keith Floyd who was a friend of the band and used both as the opening and closing of his bbc TV shows. He also used viva vlad as incidental music.
So many things to fucking say, OMG, first, I can't believe how much soul and passion they put into this concert, for their age, 60, or there abouts, WTF, most songs sound like the original version, unlike the ROLLING BONES, sorry, STONES, for instance. I'm sick of listening to English bands, coming out of retirement, to do gigs for money, but at least these dudes still sound good. But that is to be expected, they are one of the premier bands to come out of the punk movement, along with the Clash & Pistols. But it's amazing how things go around, and come around, the STONES were the antidote to those who didn't like the Beatles, with the DOORS coming in at a close 3rd, of all time best bands on the planet. 15 years later 3 more bands became the best on the planet, CASH, AND PISTOLS & the STRANGLERS, but instead of the STRANGLERS coming in a very close 3rd, aka, the DOORS, because the pistols only made one KILLER album, I'de put the STRANGLERS along side the CLASH, as the two BEST BANDS, of the last 40 years, there are no bands anymore, that ERA has passed, but I'm glad I was around to see it and feel it. Oh, bye the way, I'm actually a SOUL boy, soul and funk take up 95% of my music, with JIMI HENDRIX taking up the other 4%, so the punk music was a blip in my musical evolution, but a fucking nice blip. That 1% was just as creative as all the black music that was made, in the last 50 years, because it was DIFFERENT, songs like '' PEACHES '' ''NICE N SLEAZY '' " GOLDEN BROWN '' were different from anything else, but catchy, had a remarkable riff, and lyrics to cut your balls in half, outstanding.
