Crawley level Crossing, East Sussex

I grew up near this crossing, it’s very iconic. It’s been holding up traffic down the high street for something like a hundred and fifty years. I love the crossing gates with the tassels on the bottom, and the big flashing lights. I really like the sound of the crossing sirens, they’re not quite as cool as the bells over in America but it’s a lot nicer than the pathetic noise of some other level crossings over here.
On a clear night you could sometimes hear the crossing siren from my house, usually followed by the clatter of s train going by. It’s quite a nice noise honestly.
