Thank you!! I feel like a lot of people can't sympathise with azula because we don't really see much of her POV from the show. The most we get on that is the beach episode. And any other time we see her chasing team avatar. I think when you put yourself in her shoes that's when you can really understand the character, you really have to read between the lines otherwise people will jus see her as another crazy evil person from the fire nation. Like after Zukos banishment she was literally left alone in the palace with Ozai. He was basically morphing her into his own weapon. If zuko didn't have iroh there is no way in hell he would have joined team avatar. I like what you said about her not having an opportunity to have another chance, there was no one to guide her to the right side like zuko.
I've been thinking basically everything you said in this video ever since the finale aired all those years ago. I can't even watch A:TLA anymore because of what happens to her. Every time I see that final closeup of Azula, it twists my stomach around (thanks for using that shot FIVE times by the way...!). Thank you for this. I always appreciate when someone else shares my views on Azula, it kinda gives me hope that the creators will give her some sort of redemption eventually.
the fans of this show love to underestimate her and her abilities and love to hate her when she carried the show and made it interesting, shes one of the best written female villain.
In my honest opinion, Azula is a pawn of a toxic environment because of her imperialist native nation and her 3 toxic royal family members like her paternal great grandfather Sozin who started the 100 year war plus he is the one that brought disgrace, embarrassment, & shame to his royal family plus the fire nation in the first place, her paternal grandfather Azulon who continued the war, & especially her father Ozai who also continued the war plus he manipulated her as a weapon so he could selfishly rule the world as the Phoenix King. Despite all the indoctrination, lack of compassion, pain, and suffering Azula went through, I cannot trust her because she is so dangerous & so ruthless because of her constant manipulative character plus her narcissistic attitude. If her Uncle Iroh can change and her brother Zuko can change, why can’t she change. I always wondered if Azula was raised in a empathetic normal family and if she grew up in a healthy positive environment, she will definitely grow up to be a decent human being period.
While I disagree with you and still think Azula is just a manipulative B, I really enjoyed this video. Would love more of this type of content in the future.
Almost everything she does she does for her father or brother. She is one of the most selfless characters. But she is selflessly loyal to her father, the source of all evil in the show. Selfless doesn't mean nice.
If you havent seen, I recomment checking the video "The Psychology of Azula" by Hello Future Me
I’ve seen it now: Way better than my video, everyone should go watch that.

she was brought up like this cus of her environment, regardless shes still very powerful.
Both Zuko and Azula are named after their grandfather

Azula: I was raised in a broken family and manipulated by my father...but I wanna commit genocide
Everyone: She's not a monster
iroh was a war criminal if u can forgive him why cant azula not get redemption?
