    I saw Elvis at the coliseum in 1976. I was 14 years old. A funny story. Partway through the act my mother told me to go up front to the stage and get a scarf for her.
    As I approached the stage Elvis removed one of the scarves. I heard a commotion behind me. As I said, I was 14. I turned to see hundreds of women rushing towards my direction. Never was I more frightened out of my mind. I quickly retreated.

    What a great historical venue. Sadly as on par for America today, it will be torn down and it’s musical legacy lost to all but the great souls who took time from their lives to document it. Thanks Billy and Trey!

      I lived in South Richmond growing up.I hate it that they are going to tear down the coliseum but I do believe all the other places are protected because they are old and historic like Broad street station is a children's now and Elvis came in on the train there.The mosque is historic and actually still holds shows there but just a name change.The hotel is still there also.The coliseum is not protected because it was built late sixties and I think opened in 1970

    I love the video's at night, you leave no stone unturned. It look's like a step back in time really, probably how it looked when Elvis was there. You timed it just right too since they were getting ready to do a demolition. Thank you for your good work Billy. You alway's do Elvis proud, it's almost like you can imagine Elvis actually being there.

      I agree - I recently remastered it if you'd like a clearer version of it. I don't know why every other version out there is muddy as all get out - you can hear from mine that there was plenty of high end recorded...in fact, cleaned up, it's one of the best sounding 1972 shows out there: th-cam.com/video/vtCidDEf6fE/w-d-xo.html

    Wouw the Colloseum is huge❤ such big tunnels, strange to think Elvis went to so many places, he was driving all accross the America, yet he is so famous for his Las Vegas shows but he toured.

    Another great video SG. I have to say though, I do find it a bit annoying when I see that Elvis played venues like this time after time, after time, yet couldn't find it to come here to the UK to perform for his loyal British fans who, btw, helped make him a very wealthy man from spending their hard earned cash on his records and going to see his movies. I know all the stories about the Colonel being an illegal allegedly, but I feel if Elvis REALLY wanted to perform overseas, he could have. Sorry, rant over.

    • @SpaGuy
      @SpaGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the same people who complain Elvis never went overseas that say Elvis was overworked.. Why would he leave sold out shows and travel further? It made no sense the costs of doing that would have been outrageous and the Colonel not having a passport thing is BS.. He was planning to go but sadly passed away before he could.. He had Lamar actively looking for a plane to make the jump..

    • @JohnConboy1
      @JohnConboy1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpaGuy Elvis being overworked and not travelling overseas are two completely separate issues. You say "Why would he leave sold out shows and travel further?" Really? Why do other major artists go on World tours? so their loyal fans get a chance to see them perform live. Elvis would have sold out across the globe. Everybody knows he was bored of playing Vegas by '76 He should have been playing the UK, Germany, Japan etc. You also say "the cost" Hmm.. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Thanks for the reply.
