I think that it is clear now that in the US and Europe that there are now two waves of infection each year, one peaking late Summer early Autumn and a larger one peaking in January. The reason for such seasonality is unclear, but is obviously driven by people's behaviour. Perhaps correlating with people gathering together closer in the Winter to keep warm and closer together to peep cool in the Summer. In the UK the Summer wave started earlier and the current hospitalization rate is 3 times that of last year. It appears to be similar in the US.

Rather than staying home forever, I will continue to use masks when I go out and use Querticin plus zinc for prevention of active infection before and after I join the population at large.
My mother's assisted Living 16 out of 65 positive, so far she's negative. 1 friend on week 5 of covid completely disabled, was health active early 50s.
Thanks again for your podcasts. I am going to do as you did and get the Novavax version of the COVID vaccine. As I mentioned last time, since the S protein of this virus is toxic to epithelial cells, I believe it is foolish to take the mRNA type of vaccine which ensures the synthesis of S protein while it boosts immune activity.
@@Jeff-b4-g *INCORRECT* The N95 masks do work well. There was a meta analysis which is frequently incorrectly quoted as evidence that they do not work. It did not look at the effectiveness of using masks, but of the messaging policy that advocated the use of masks. It was the messaging that was ineffective and not the masks.
You are talking enormous levels vaccine administration but you're not evaluating a balance of overall risk of taking vaccines against not taking them. Additionally, you are not evaluating the reliability of the data you are using. This disappoints me.

Thanks for your podcast. It has helped keep my nerves calm.
If Novovax is anecdotally safer than the MRNAs, why not get Novovax soon and get Novovax (not MRNA) again in 4 months?
@sallybrookner4158 Why listen to TWiV? They are even worse liars than Osterholm.

16 out of 65 positive is 25%. Is this the current number infected now or who have been infected over the whole of the pandemic?

wear N95, dont go out for trivial reasons, stop traveling
You do know masks have been PROVEN to not work, right?
I travel, go out often but wear a mask when indoors in crowded situations. We’ve all developed our new normal.
