To this. Very day I still. Love Steely Dan. I was in eighth grade and Ricky. Don't lose that number came out. And I grew up listening to leads up, and so are they in here? I'm not watching the whole thing cause I have Adhd
I'm sorry, but "Wonderful Tonight" is my #1. Whenever it plays at a wedding, it's THE song that I am dancing with my dear bride to. I'm not much for dancing, but when it plays, we dance. All great songs, but maybe wrong order.
Here are some of my favorite songs from year 1972 that weren't included in the list. 1.) The Spinners - Could It Be I'm Falling In Love ( 1972 ) 2.) Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now ( 1972 ) 3.) Neil Diamond - Song Sung Blue ( 1972 ) 4.) Helen Reddy - I Am Woman ( 1972 ) 5.) Daniel Boone - Beautiful Sunday ( 1972 ) 6.) Carly Simon - You're So Vain ( 1972 ) 7.) @@eloiseockert9233 "Daddy Don't Walk Do Fast" WHAT? That's NOT the title. Could you not notice that it didn't make sense grammatically. You also got some other titles wrong.

No doubt, "Get on the Good Foot" by James Brown, "I Gotcha," by Joe Tex (fun fact, James and Joe were arch rivals). "Let's Stay Together " by Al Green.
Alone Again, Naturally went so much deeper than just about being left at the altar. It's also about him questioning the existence of god and the death of his parents.
Mac Davis who you mentioned previously wrote the Elvis Presley hit In The Ghetto. The Roberta Flack one was originally a Folk song, written by British Folk singer Ewan MacColl in the early sixties, after he moved to the States, and first gave it to Peggy Seeger who was the younger sister of Folk singer Pete Seeger. Over the next few years, it was covered by other Folk artists The Kingston Trio, Gordon Lightfoot and Peter, Paul & Mary. Around the time that she recorded her insipid MOR version, Elvis Presley recorded a much stronger version. As for the greatest 1972 hit, I would say it was My Ding A Ling, a UK number one for Chuck Berry.
I do enjoy these blasts from the past, but I was thinking this dude doesn't sound old enough to have been there in the 70's, (like he presents as such he was), and when he mispronounced Lynyrd Skynyrd 5:55 I'm like ah-ha! cuz if he really was jamming on these tunes in the 70's, he'd know how to pronounce correctly Ronnie Van Zant's Band name, just saying:)
The stoic commentary is enough to put anyone off from listening. Glad the 1972 list of top hits in the UK was better. And yes Melanie, Neisson and McLean where all hits but for the OTHERS! Nothing to write home about. If you are going to compile a list of bests, at least sound as if you mean it.
I agree with you 150%. In some instances in all the videos (70s, 71's 72's, etc), the songs can be barely heard. I was born in the mid 50's, so I am familiar with all these hits; but did injustice even though you had good intent.
which one is your favorite?😀
Too hard to choose one
American pie
American Pie
Alone Again Naturally
@@lyndaringer2567I agree, I just chose for the sake of context. I love em all!!!

I was 5 for the majority of 72. I can remember my Mom playing these songs and hearing them on the radio.
“American Pie” to me is the clear #1 on this list.
No Soul Train dance line? 😉This was a stellar group with Al Green, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Roberta Flack and Don McLean as my personal favorites of 1972.
Doesn't get much better than Wayne Newton 🎈🎈🎈🎉🎉
yep, just ask Ellen Griswold :)
Lots of good stuff on this list... 1972 just one more reason to love the year I was born!!! ❤🎉🎉🎉🤙
Without You and American Pie!!
this is music not the junk now
The days a teen dances and young loves.
Ya, Brand New Key is about rollerskating. Trying to keep your channel monetized are we ? 😁😁😁

Hollies - Long Cool Woman In a Black Dress
Neil Young - Heart of Gold
Three Dog Night - Never Been to Spain
Derek and the Dominos - Layla
Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
All great songs. Today's music is not that memorable.
Song lyrics that made real sense.

oh wow! thats actually very interesting. I'll have to keep this fact in my back pocket for future videos. Thanks for that info! @clarenceEwing :)

Roberta Flack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rock And Roll Part 2 - Gary Glitter
“Me and Mrs Jones” would be my pick for #1 with “Yellow brick road” a close second.
Daniel Boone's version of DADDY, DON'T YOU WALK SO FAST is much better than Wayne Newton's version. I love Daniel Boone.
thats an amazing version.
And it predates Wayne Newton's version.
@@martinjb55 That's correct.
Elvis did it as well. Much better.
I do not think it was a #1 hit but it was in the Billboard Hot 100 at 16 in 1972. I Saw The Light by Todd Rundgren

Al Green version is better
