Right, Pete let everyone down yesterday going 3 for 5 with 5 RBI's and only two runs scored. That HR he hit in the 6th (only his 33rd - pathetic) was a cheapie b/c they were already up by 5 runs - so it really didn't count. And his play at 1st base has been one string of errors for the ESPN & Fuzzy low-lite reel. His 86-RBI's - - uh, so weak and that .805-OPS makes me wanna puke. Horrid player, they should have traded him for anyone.

@@thomas5714 he’s obviously a great player and is just in a slump. With that said, he’s not worth the contract he’s going to ask for. We need another ace SP and reliever. A decent 1B is much easier to find.
I put the rest of this season on two guys shoulders, Nimmo and Alonso. If these two homegrown Mets don’t step up we won’t make the playoffs. I hope they do but have almost 0 confidence in Nimmo he’s been a negative player for over 2 months now
The starters and arms in the pen have been big since the AS break, BIG. If our guys survive the next 11 games, after the Phils, they'll be the most dangerous team in the playoffs b/c of the arms.
@@thomas5714 I think that’s a pretty big overstatement. The pitching is certainly better than anyone projected, and a couple of breakouts (e.g. Manaea) appear to be real, but while weird things happen sometimes, I don’t see the underlying skills to suggest they’ll be a Top 3-5 unit going forward. Over this recent stretch of pitching success, the staff (especially the bullpen) has run a really low barrel rate and unsustainably low HR/FB rate, the starters have run a strand/LOB rate over 80%, and they’ve gotten to face some really bad/struggling teams. The bullpen misses bats but still issues too many walks, the starters don’t miss many bats and don’t have elite control, David Peterson’s results have a whiff of smoke-and-mirrors to them (but lack actual whiffs, barring that Red Sox aberration), we still don’t know how well Manaea and Severino will hold up with the heavy workload, etc. Side note: The staff has been allowing a lot of popups lately, though I haven’t dug into why it might be happening. Popups are obviously good, but the bullpen has also been running a pretty high flyball rate, and with their command issues, all that mis-hit airborne contact could start turning into barrels. I think Bryce Harper’s second HR on Saturday might be the only one the bullpen has allowed going back to August 29, spanning ~50 IP. Hard to believe that kind of home run suppression is going to continue, especially against stronger competition, and with six games in HR-friendly Atlanta and Milwaukee coming up.
Only reaching the playoffs will repair me from Saturday's loss to the Phillies. Alonso has to become cespedes/murphy 2015 to be forgiven for his crappy hitting.
