What Tenkara rod should I consider for small creek fishing, perhaps a lake while hiking in the Cascade Mountains here in Washington? Have been considering the DragonTail Mizuchi zx340 Zoom based upon initial research.
The Mizuchi is a great choice, but I would also consider the Icewing (update to the Mutant, preorders on sale!), which has incredible versatility from 285 all the way to 390 and has been very well reviewed. This would be a great choice if you fish small creeks that sometimes open up and you have room to cast, and would give you a little more reach for your lakes (but I don't think it delivers until Dec, so good for next season). The other rod I would point you to is the Kaida, it is one of my absolute favorite rods and if you wanted a smaller packed size, this would be an awesome choice. I have used it on both small creeks and high alpine lakes.
@@resoluteretreat1532 one is the 340 Itoshiro, the other is the 400 type-1, basically the same rod, but two different lengths. I fish them both with size 3 level line plus 5X tippet, total length about the length of the rod or a little more. Hope that helps!
What would be your choice for a 8 year old who is really into fishing. Also mostly fishing in creeks and streams in the Appalachians
@@zackd2139 this: a.co/d/j9zm0SA. Shimotsuke 240. Super cheap, perfect size for kids, great little rod!

Please add more comments about your two Itoshiro rods . . . why two of them? Line used, tippet length?

@@MostlyTenkara nice I’ve been thinking about getting it but I preordered the Hafu from tenkaraco so was waiting
@@CityBears704 The Hafu will be much stiffer than the Tenkara Mini. The Nissin casts beautifully.
