Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 is a real-time strategy video game by Westwood Pacific, which was released as the follow-up to Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Red Alert 2 picks up at the conclusion of the Allied campaign of the first game. Its expansion is Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge. I'm an old pro player and enjoy playing both allied and soviet.

Just discovered on CnC , $12 to d/l ultimate collection , all C & c up to RedAlert 3. Patches, updated to Win 10! The JOY of Yuri Rev once again!
That was gnarly. I prefer when you talk, especially about your strategy.
I think having two versions would keep everyone happy.
One with full showing and commentary,
the other being highlights of the match.
if you keep the length and give us an overall strategy "debrief" --- and then just take ot some awesome spotlights where some very hard stuff worked out the right/wrong way
Some people like a full match with commentary, others like highlights. It's like football, some people like watching it on TV (highlights), others like going to the event.

This game was amazing back in the day... playing it now I find handycappin myself is the only was to create a challenge vs bots... even with 7 of them on brutal vs me it's too easy. here is a summary of how to win every time... destroy bridge, build air defence, mass click prism or apocalypse tank, rebuild bridge, steamroll enemy with your tank of choice... no joke you never loose.
I***** yeah man its harder but the only real threat is spies and engineers and a few dogs solve that problem. They need a hd remake with super smart ai...
online vs players is where the real fun is DOA NEXUS
I mean the real problem for me is either KIROVS which is a threat or just the superweapons

i prefer the commentary, as it's the main reason i enjoy your videos, decent gameplay of ra2 is everywhere, but it's the insight on the decisions and all that jazz that make your videos better than the rest.
haha I used to love playing this game as a kid. I remember going into I believe it was electronic boutique (now GameStop) after saving up for 2 months of doing chores to buy this game. I couldnt really play online much as I had dialup so I was relegated to playing the campaign over and over again. Im glad there are still people that play it.
btw during that big apoc battle, im curious why you didnt focus down some of his vet units. I mean im sure when you are surrounded by tons of cash flow and alot of action, its really hard to notice little things like that but he had 1 vet unit that killed a load of yours.
Same! I got destroyed when I finally did go online lol, but I mostly just enjoyed collecting custom maps
That was totally awesome! I like the commentary on the competitive matches but can get down with no-commentary on complete CHAOS like this haha. The non-stop Dreadnought missile fire and Apoc tank battle was intense! GG

Red Alert Retaliation was what got me into the series. I remember being disappointed I could not find a copy for my PS1. My friend told me Retaliation was the second one, so I bought Red Alert 2 thinking it was the same for PC.
Imagine the horror of trying to play this on a mobile device. Glad it was never ported.
C&C 3 and RA3 on consoles wasn't so bad. Downside were the population cap and the dead online community lol
OMG PS1 C&C is so fucked up :S TD especially.. My brother completed both campaigns on hard difficulty.. It's hard AF, ecerybody knows that TD is hardest C&C, add controller to that.. damn...
It was pretty harsh doing it with mere megs of ram in Windows 95, too!

So satisfying. My first game of all time since I was a kid. This would be my best game in my life.
Definitely like the talking. It's because you narrate what happened after the match, rather than talking during the live match. We see the bigger picture, instead of the commentary being reactionary.
I reckon you should keep some of the voice over, particularly if you cut to the good stuff!

Ive done lan parties with this game and we had armies so big the game lagged and you couldbt fit a tank anywhere

Nice Battle. I love massive battles, usually one-on-one, conventional weapons only (tanks and troops, no Yuri, no air-force, no navy).

this brings back so much memories. I used to play this game hours and hours with some of my best friends.

I’ve played a lot of Halo Wars 2 and I’ve played a lot of RA2. Easily 500+ hours of each. My biggest complaint between the two is when units become ‘elite’ in HW2, you don’t feel like they’re noticeably stronger. 30% gains to health and damage. An elite sub, dreadnaught, rhino, prism, infantry, you can feel the ULTIMATE POWER!!!!!
Original Command and Conqueror! It was blast to play back in the day and even now. Great memories of calling in sick since PlayStation had no save capacity and I had survived a level my roommate and I had tried numerous times to beat, no way I am turning it off nor was I wanting to leave it on all day on pause, soo ..cough cough…

RA2 is my favorite fun RTS, was so pissed off with what EA did with RA3.
I'm surprised the pro scene was so slow in mirror matches, if I remember it wasn't uncommon to have 20 factories churning out Rhino tanks at the 5 min mark. Almost to the point of not bothering scouting.

OMG... I've never seen such a grandeur battle. So many Dreadnoughts raining missiles on Flack Tracks and a sea of Apocalypse tanks rampaging another sea of Apocalypse tanks.
I like how you spam the doge army to tank like 1/4 of the enemy's apocalypse fire power (10:00). Nice strat.
Good planner ✌️, the way how you mange your Tanks Movement was perfect 👍
With large forces like that you have to be careful telling them all to move or attack the same target or area. The ones up front will get just in range and stop to fire while the others behind will dance in circles trying to find a way around and won't be firing. Better to make groups and have each group attack from a slightly different area.
all this years playing red alert 2 and I still don't know how to attack bridges

fun alternate options include seal/tanya c4 or crazy ivan bombs for instant destruction use on the repair huts :)

Máté Szél You edit the ra2.ini file in the folder the game is installed. Under [Video] you set the resolution to whatever. :D

Dreadnaughts were so bad compared to aircraft carrier. RA2 was generally pretty well balanced except for that

Download OpenRA and install it. That's what everyone plays nowadays.
If you're on Windows 10, it's hard to configure the game because it was made 18 Years ago.

big maps with insane economy is the thing that made red alert such a good game... you don't have an army cap and you can build extremely large armies for epic battleshow about 8 player free for all with super weapons just for entertaintment....
How did you add the RA2 music to the Yuri's Revenge Client?

I always watched your videos. Reminds me when I was lil kid my friends and I used played it in a internet cafe. We always go in the other cities to play with bets. Good old days now only myself play it every once in a while. Hopefully more vids like this to come.

Definitely prefer talking over the top. But that's not to say talking is required 100% of the time.
When you talk, it's always something important or interesting, unlike other people who just talk for the sake of talking or even worse, not talking at all.

Why is he throwing in dogs along his apocalypse tanks? Is that to get rid of these spider like terror drones? How to get rid efficiently of the latter actually?
Okey. But are u sure one shot of an apocalypse tank damages your unit of interest more (in financial terms: if 1/3 of your tank's health bar is destroyed, count 1/3 of its price) than the price of the dog? U also have an opportunity cost here, I think: the dogs can't shoot. So all the decoy money is not destroying apocalypse tanks, so lowers the destroy rate of your army=>apocalypes can fire more shots in total before taken down. I think the calculation could get more complex as first thought.

The spider drones can cause havoc on your expensive units if they get through. When they manage to take over a unit it becomes very difficult to stop them jumping from one unit to the other. Your only option at that point is to separate the infected units quickly and force fire to kill your infected units.
I greatly prefer the silent version. You could always do two versions, or release a commentary track on soundcloud that people can play at the same time index as the video!

Just curious how do you get the multiple barracks, War Factories and shipyards to produce units? The standard game only lets you use one at a time.
Each extra building speeds up production by a notable amount

Nice job great match. I have fond memories of this game and have been itching to get back into it lately so if anyone can tell me how I'd be grateful. Do I need to buy the downloadable one or a CD? Will it work with windows 10? And how do I play online is it through that CNCnet website? Any help would be massively appreciated
You need a copy of RA2, on the CnCnet webside you can easily find the needed online client to get it to work.
It might be a little hard in the beginning to get it running smoothly tho.

How did you defeat his whole tank army? He had just as many tanks as you. Also apoc tanks don't auto fire how do you manage not to get them killed when his rhino tanks roll down on you? I thought the best thing to do is keep apocs together and dont move or they will die
