I’m in no way rooting for Bonnet but you have to admit, he makes a FANTASTIC villain. He has that crazy vibe and just enough humanity to make him interesting.
I totally agree with that for both Bonnet and black jack Randall. And I have to say that in most of the cases all of the actors seem to have incredible facial expressions that can betray an emotion or what they're thinking without saying a word.
He's no Black Jack Randall but he's a good villain. If u read the books (or see the scene where he asks her to teach him to be a gentleman) then u'll know that this lunatic doesn't even know how to be a person. He doesn't even know what he did to Brianna was rape. He even tells her how to better perform the next time they're together. That's wen she realizes that he doesn't even know what he took from her. He doesn't know it's rape. He actually tells her to take whatever she wants from his valuables becoz he thinks that's how it works: u take your pleasure, she takes your treasure. And he actually likes her so much he wants her to have whatever she wants. It's so disturbing. Red-headed Frasers have the incredible misfortune of being the objects of the twisted affections of murdering rapists. Another thing I hate abt the TV writers is that they don't explain y Brianna feels the need to be sympathetic towards Bonnet. Wen she talks to Jamie abt it, she does ask if it wud help to kill him. What they don't show is that Jamie told her that what helped him get past wat Randall did was finding sympathy for that beast.
Maybe it's becoz I read the book that I understand his total lack of understanding. He didn't recognize Brianna, he didn't know what he did was wrong. To me, he's just a rabid dog that needs to be put down. And I feel like, in a way, Bree unerstood it too. And I'm not agreeing with the series that made her appease him. I'm just saying that she realized he was not worth her time or her guilt. She rook the high road and she was free
I think the reason people like Bonnet so much is because, well first, he is a great actor and fun to watch. Second, the show has gotten a bit stale. All of the conflict seems superficial and silly. Jamie or Claire get in trouble because they are always wanting to play savior and acting foolishly. Bree and Rogers conflicts seem childish and make their characters unlikable. Example: Bree and Roger just get “married”, he has risk his life and throws away the world he knows to find her in another time and she tells him to get lost over what should have been a small fight. Having a big baddie again, like Bonnet, gives us something to care about. We will be wondering when he will pop up again and what mayhem he will cause just like we did with Black Jack. Its not that we want Bree and Bonnet together, we just want SOMETHNG to happen other than the silly conflicts they have given us. Bonnet gives us something to fear and something to look forward to again.

If Bonnet not the father then this mean the baby( can't think of his name) can never kill grow up and kill William son(whoever that is) since this son would be his ancestor. At the same time his ancestor would also be Brainna 2nd cousin. I wonder what would happen if if thier child did meet his 5th great grandfather who would probably be around his age and tried to kill him. Yeah i know it's crazy having an ancestor your age. Great performance for Steven and Brianna. Not sure from this clip if this is his end or not but great job. You are a bad man Steven Bonnet but a heart does beat in your chest. We will see soon what happens with you. Will it be as the book tells the story??
Karen Nallo I think he is still alive . They drop the keys in the jail next to his door when they rescued murtaugh . The last thing they show is the jail house being blown up . But I’m pretty sure he escaped before the gunpowder blew up the place
In the book it was much different as I know, he clearly escapes the building before explosion and saves Gray, because Brianna asks him to and when they leave the building he offers her to go with him, but she declines and THAN, not in the prison, he gives her the stone...
Ana Jgenti am I completely horrible for wanting him to become a changed man so he can be a good father come back for Brianna and they can be a happy family and all his sins forgiven 😫😫😫 I really don’t like roger for Brianna ! He seems the farthest from a man 😤
@@NaFariaSalazar I understand your feelings so well... 😓 I don't see the chemistey between Roger and Brienna and of course it can't even be compared to the connection Claire and Jamie had from the very first moment... and since show creators are trying to make Brienna somewhat important (if not the main) character, there should be strong attraction between her and the man she is with, I think 🤷 her chemistry with lord John is also satisfying for me, because even after the fact that I like Bonnet (and it makes me feel horrible also), I can't come up with a happy ending for the man who raped her and herself... :(
You may recognize actor Ed Speleers from Downton Abbey, as footman "Jimmy" Kent. As well as the starring role of "Eragon", in the Eragon movies. In case you were wondering where you'd seen him before. Also, many, many other roles over the years.
If you listen to Bonnet he describes what made him into the monster that he became..He also shows tiny bits of caring and humanity at times..Of course you would be a fool to trust him but still its all there for anyone to understand if you just listen and read between the lines..
Such a great scene by both Sophie and Ed. I'm glad Brianna got her closure but I wish she didn't tell him about the baby, he's probably going to try and find them. But maybe it's a good thing, maybe then Jamie can finally kill him..
Anyone who read the actual novels would NOT feel any affection for Steven Bonnett. The rape scene in particular was horrifying ( I actually think Diana Gabaldon went too far there).
What she did was so brave, very few people could have stood in-front of their attacker like that. Not only did she have the courage to confront him but she also showed him a unique kindness in forgiving him and giving him the comfort in knowing that he will have something left on this earth after he’s gone. However I do believe that she shouldn’t have said anything about the child, Bonnet is a monster and now that he knows that baby is his or at least he thinks....he’s coming for him.
Many say that she did this only because he was tied, but she was going to face him whether he was tied or not because when she made her decision to see him, she didn't even think that he will be tied and that's very brave.
Most "monsters" are human. That doesn't make them good people. Remember also that bonnet does everything with a self-serving purpose. Even psychopaths can appear to be loving, caring or remorseful if it's in their interest. They view their children as possessions, and people as tools, useful or not useful. Bonnet knew he was going to escape, this wasn't an act of kindness.
Victoria VanDam Its because he is a deranged mental case. A 1760s jekyll and hyde. He has his good points and they are over taken by his "bad" mental case self
Now, that was a really stupid thing to do. She didn't have to go there to forgive him and she didn't have to tell him the baby is his when she has no idea if it is or not? She made a target of herself and her baby.
Any book readers out there who don't spoil anything but could tell me if he really meant it when he gave that gem to her and kinda wants his child to not become like him or was he just pretending like when jamie helped him escape
How did Eragon get here? But on a serious note, Ed Speelers and Sophie Skelton both did an amazing job with this scene, it remains one of my favorites from the show!
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SERIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. SAM AND CAT REALLY MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE THEY TRULING LOVE EACH OTHER. I DON'T THINK THE SHOW WOULDMEVER BE THE SAME IF THEY LEFT THE SHOW. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE JAMIE BE ABLE TO KEEP HIS FAMILY TOGETHER WITH HIS DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON, SO HE WOULD HAVE THE CHANCE TO BE A FATHER AND GRANDFATHER. SINCE HE MISSED OUT ON RAISING HIS DAUGHTER.
I hated it when she slapped her father, Jamie. I may sound weird but it took me a while to come out of that scene. I mean, Jamie is a gem of a person. If he hadn't sent Claire back and took the pain of separation, Brianna wouldn't have lived to see the days. It's so sad to see Jamie being slapped by his own daughter. That scene broke my heart.
Why does my heart hurts for Stephen Bonnet? I have always hated him since what he did at Episode 1 but at 2:35, my heart just breaks 💔💔💔 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 very good acting indeed
I haven't watched the new series but can anyone answer this question for me? Claire her mom was known in the earlier seasons for using a specific herb as birth control. They mentioned it several times during the earlier seasons and I'm sure they also had herbs that would cause no implantation to occur (like a plan B) if time and duration of taking the herb was a factor. Why didn't Brianna tell Claire about what happened and ask for that type of herb?
Stupid of Bree to tell Bonnet about the baby. You KNOW he makes it out of there and at some point in the future will seek out his child! Can’t help but like him though!
@@pavlo0073 well i just looked at outlander bonnet on Google check that out and it basically showed me what it says in the books cause i dont have time either but it says thorbs sells her to bonnet to be sent to England to get her family out of the way then it says he kidnapped her i think the thorbs sounds more true
Stephen Bonnett was hung here in my hometown (Charleston,SC) He met his maker in a park called White Gardens.. He was hung there back on December 10, 1718 with I believe 25 other pirates ..I hope that they at least admit that he did not die when Fergus and the Regulators blew up the jail..I have not read the books so I have no clue which way it will be told in the series..However it might be a totally different scenario since the writer's tend to change some of the scenes that was in the books to make the series more interesting ..
Cela promet une scène très forte et c'est un moment portant de la série! Bonnet va se montrer sous un autre jour...mais il n'en reste passions un "horrible "personnage!
And I read the books and I know what will happen. Bree didn't need to reveal her pregnancy to him. She just gave him an incentive to escape and keep tabs on her.
She made it about her to the point she ignored her own safety. She knew Bonnet was a crafty psycho and assumed 18th Century security would hold him. She would have heard by this point of Bonnet's notoriety in the community. I'm a survivor of sexual assault as well by someone devoid of a moral compass but I won't try to heal my anger by physically approaching him and blessing him with my forgiveness, not even with modern security measures in place.
@@harleyquinn5774 I think that not everyone react and heal the same way, and maybe she didn't think this through but i can't blame her for the way she choose to "end" this even with the whole problem of the lack of security in that century.
In the past, the maturity(?) level was higher at a much younger age . Bonnet was a well known/established pirate w his own ship, his own crew, his own $ ...despite how he acquired it being ruthless. He was still in his 20-30s. He accepted death as a gotta pay to play & manipulated his way out of it until the very end. He never cried or whined about it. Brie showed a bravery most 40-50 yr olds today couldn’t handle by choosing to visit bonnet. Asking LJG to marry her, not to mention having the child despite not knowing if she’d see Roger ever again...& that it was most probably bonnets. Jamie.... sh*t Everyone, was willing to fight , protect and work their fingers to the bone just to survive. Honor is a huge thing. Too bad we’ve lost it.
I rooted for him. I wanted more of his character. Bree is so stupid. Had she not confronted him and told his everything. She would have never encountered him ever. Bree makes a ton of mistakes. So does Roger. I loved Bree to meet her dad than go back home.
Forgiveness is easy when the person who wronged you is going to die. She forgave him in order to move on. She cannot love her child unless she forgives her rapist. When she finds out Bonnet is alive, she will not be so forgiving in season 5.
She didn't do it to make him care. She did it to herself to get some kind of closure. She couldn't murder her but by knowing that he is gonna die, it gives herself some kind of comfort.
If Brianna been a boy she probably would have beaten Steven up pretty easy but then again Steven might have not even given her a chance to fight back in the first place.
The actor for Stephen Bonnet is so good that I think I have come to hate the character as much as I hated Black Jack Randall. In this scene he totaly made me believe that he is some misguided dude, spoiled due to hardships and I really wanted to pity him. But then I had to remind myself that nothing gives anyone the right to violate any other. Its just sheer psychopathy that manipulates you into believing they are good people, while actually they are not.
Yes Bonnet is a complete psychopath and even in this scene, he doesn't feel any remorse towards Brianna (he is incapable or such sentiments), he is just excited to have a baby - a continuation of himself after his death. But yes, he is a product of his terrible life experiences early in life, other people made him what he is, so I can't help but feel sorry for him at the same time.
brooklynbuglet In a previous episode when she tells her mom she’s pregnant she says that Roger withdrew when they did it (but they did it more than once that night) but when Bonnet raped her he didn’t withdraw. so that’s why she thinks it’s his baby but in reality it’s 50/50

I think he has survived during explosion in 4th season. Because somewhen he said to Clair he is afraid of water und is sure he will die by drowning.
Well he won't die for a while intill its his time just like what jamie said all men like that will get whats coming to em
There is more chemistry between Bonnet and Brianna than between her and Roger...
I hate Roger so much, he is an asshole😌😅
Hahaha I hate how true that is
Omg yes
............are you for real?
Ed is handsome
Best scene of this episode! ❤️
1.29 that childish look on his face.... made me feel some mercy for him.
The only thing is I don't think he is dead. People like Bonnett always manage to have one more surprise left to them.
I think that a lot of people like Steven Bonnet is because the actor has so much charisma.
Something I'm lacking in Brianna's character.
True
She is bland
If you listen to Bonnet he describes what made him into the monster that he became..He also shows tiny bits of caring and humanity at times..Of course you would be a fool to trust him but still its all there for anyone to understand if you just listen and read between the lines..
Such a great scene by both Sophie and Ed. I'm glad Brianna got her closure but I wish she didn't tell him about the baby, he's probably going to try and find them. But maybe it's a good thing, maybe then Jamie can finally kill him..
She needed closure but I don’t think she should’ve told him about the baby
Anyone who read the actual novels would NOT feel any affection for Steven Bonnett.
The rape scene in particular was horrifying ( I actually think Diana Gabaldon went too far there).
That’s true. Since the first time he attacked Claire on the ship I just couldn’t like him.
Two amazing actors. Love that Brianna took her power back!
Why did you need this!? I was fine seeing him as a monster and you had to go make him human.
Victoria VanDam he’s another blackjack and he’ll be back to claim what’s his..should be outstanding!
Victoria VanDam
Its because he is a deranged mental case. A 1760s jekyll and hyde. He has his good points and they are over taken by his "bad" mental case self
Humans can be monsters.
So this is what happens when Eragon goes to the dark side
Ed is really good actor ! Please Hollywood take him for another serie/movie 🙏🙏
Thank you so much four posting this Video! ! Can't wait to watch the episode. ...
I thought he was going to say he cant have kids
Wouldn't that of been nice .
It’s Rogers anyway ...
@@m.b.1111 Rogers baby?
frenxasca1
Yes,it’s Roger’s child.
@@Wlf5953 How do you know that ?
I laughed so hard when I saw the keys in Bonnet's cell later in the episode
Now, that was a really stupid thing to do. She didn't have to go there to forgive him and she didn't have to tell him the baby is his when she has no idea if it is or not? She made a target of herself and her baby.
Any book readers out there who don't spoil anything but could tell me if he really meant it when he gave that gem to her and kinda wants his child to not become like him or was he just pretending like when jamie helped him escape
MissPenguin He actually meant it. He didn’t really care about the gem
How did Eragon get here? But on a serious note, Ed Speelers and Sophie Skelton both did an amazing job with this scene, it remains one of my favorites from the show!
For real! That was my introduction to him and he was this cute hero and now look at him! So crazy
I can never get it out of my head that he played the main character in Eragon my favourite childhood movie.
I love this scene, such great acting from both of them!
Who tf slaps their own father .. that was so… not right
Why does my heart hurts for Stephen Bonnet? I have always hated him since what he did at Episode 1 but at 2:35, my heart just breaks 💔💔💔
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 very good acting indeed
Oh dear god that look he is a great actor really one of the best 1:30 just look at him 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ed Speleers was so different in Downton Abbey. What an actor!
Am i the only one who gets chills watching scene...
Duszka I think at that time, Brianna didn’t know about the herb... just Claire.
Stupid of Bree to tell Bonnet about the baby. You KNOW he makes it out of there and at some point in the future will seek out his child! Can’t help but like him though!
Deborah Streb
Brianna does a lot of stupid things through out the books but this one tops the list .
You like a character who is a rapist? Seriously?
@@alishamacaulay1710 Why he kidnapped her? Whats the point of kidnapping here? Please tell me! I dont have the time to read the books!
Gina Dexter The ACTOR!
I think a lot more could have been done with this character and I wish it would have
Stephen Bonnett was hung here in my hometown (Charleston,SC) He met his maker in a park called White Gardens..
Stephen Bonnet's death was one of the most dramatic scenes in the books, so I doubt they will change it. But in the books, he wasn't hanged.
@@aumelb How does he die in the books?
@@annythekettle7031 sorry I don't want to spoil it for other people here who haven't read the books.

Even though bonnet did that to her, he does seem to have some compassion
Season 5 will be very interesting . He seemed remorseful
And after all that, the child ended up not being Bonnets afterall.
Does this mean Brianna thinks bonnet is the actual dad?
Extraordinary acting!
Holy sh*t, I didn't recognise Ed Speleers there..🙈
Cela promet une scène très forte et c'est un moment portant de la série! Bonnet va se montrer sous un autre jour...mais il n'en reste passions un "horrible "personnage!
Non???
No, Bree. Nooooo! Don’t tell the bastard that. You didn’t even mention Roger!
It's not about Bonnet or Roger, she needed a close to what he did to her, it was about her and what she wanted.
And I read the books and I know what will happen. Bree didn't need to reveal her pregnancy to him. She just gave him an incentive to escape and keep tabs on her.
@@harleyquinn5774 but how could she know that? Bree thought he was going to die. Anyway it still was about her, not Roger or Bonnet.
1:32 OMG NOOOO tis the puppy eyes
Love you Ed speleer, you are a handsome guy
I must wait till tomorrow... I’m so excited.
Mel Same in Australia the only two options for getting good quality are pay tv or iTunes season pass.
Probably a stone he stole from her family anyhow.
Correct! It was one of the stones he stole from jaime and claire when he attacked them
2:23 Ignore the bribing and protect yourself.
Sophie was so great in this scene!
I rooted for him. I wanted more of his character. Bree is so stupid. Had she not confronted him and told his everything. She would have never encountered him ever. Bree makes a ton of mistakes. So does Roger. I loved Bree to meet her dad than go back home.
lmao I will never understand woman like you who sympathize with rapist
Ugh, Sophie and Ed had incredible chemistry.
Forgiveness is easy when the person who wronged you is going to die. She forgave him in order to move on. She cannot love her child unless she forgives her rapist. When she finds out Bonnet is alive, she will not be so forgiving in season 5.
what´s wrong with my dear Eragon? He´s crazy?
Just goes to show bad/evil/digusting people are capable of doing good somehow.... also when faced with certain death makes one act differently.
Why would he care that she's pregnant? She didn't need to see him
She didn't do it to make him care. She did it to herself to get some kind of closure. She couldn't murder her but by knowing that he is gonna die, it gives herself some kind of comfort.
@@Illumnia548 that makes sense, thanks!
If Brianna been a boy she probably would have beaten Steven up pretty easy but then again Steven might have not even given her a chance to fight back in the first place.
Reminds me of Ramsey and Sansa last scene in game of thrones
j'ai bien aimé ce passage
Less than three hours! Whew-- !
Amazing great job
He just wants his bloodline to continue. It was a huge thing back then. It's not like they can leave their "legacy" on the internet and be sastisfied.
Un hijo lo cambia todo creo yo que está arrepentido Bonnett Con su carita triste
Brianna is silly to tell him about her baby
She obviously didn't know he was gonna escape.
I'm confused. I thought there was a chance it could be either Steven or Roger's child? why has Roger been ruled out as the father?
brooklynbuglet In a previous episode when she tells her mom she’s pregnant she says that Roger withdrew when they did it (but they did it more than once that night) but when Bonnet raped her he didn’t withdraw. so that’s why she thinks it’s his baby but in reality it’s 50/50
In the books it is later revealed that Roger is in fact the father of the baby due to a birthmark.
@@matth.7276 Bonnet will be pissed
So the fact that she doesn't know who the father is was thrown out the window I guess...
In the books, it is revealed that the father of her baby is Roger.
