@@NikkiStevenReact love your reactions, and I think it’s been mentioned already but I think you guys should really consider watching Windriver. Has a lot of crossover cast, and the movie is tragic but phenomenal.
So many Native American women do go missing and it’s sad no one outside a Reservation cares. We’re all human beings and deserve the same treatment. Sadly that doesn’t happen 😢
It's interesting to rewatch episodes with you guys because I can see things I missed the first time. Monica tells Kacey she's volunteering. Wow. I'm impressed that a show will feature the subject of MMIW.
Its not training the cow, its training the horse. In ranching, because a cow's instinct is to stay with the heard, a horse must be able to cut (separate) a specific cow from the heard for things like branding and doctoring. They demonstrate that cutting skill in shows for competition.
Thomas doesn't deserve Mo, Mo is a warrior made of pure honor, pride & guts, Thomas is an ivy league fraud with absolutely no honor!!! Mo is TOO good for him!!!
As someone who was adopted by my dad when I was 2 I can tell you I've spent an entire life being the outcast. Specially now that my mom has passed. It sucks.
Actually most of us from the south wouldn't even blink at 500 million for our land, you couldn't buy my Granddaddy's land for over a billion dollars I still wouldn't sell it.
I'll say it till I'm blue in the face, how in the hell can eminent domain be just? I know it's 'legal' because it's in the constitution (don't even get me started on that) but to be able to take away your property and your home because people with power and money want it? The whole idea is ripe for corruption and there are many cases where it is just that.
I'm from a family fkd like this. Tejan northern territories. To even the introduction of Chinese rice along with artificial inflation in the 80s to even affecting a few cups of rice compared to Louisiana bags... With even larger from China. As family members unaliving themselves after abandoning all hope prior to the great save from switching to mud bugs.. You can bet who we are voting for in 2024. China & it's enablers are the real enemy. Not personal just leave wants of watching life leave the eyes in return.
I've been waiting for Nikki to see that beautiful horse run free. It hit me hard so I knew it would hit her the same! Also, after you watch 1883, you'll have an even stronger connection to the Dutton land.
8:16 This isn’t “fucking with the cows,” Nikki, it’s an equestrian sport called CUTTING, which is based on the longtime ranching practice of cutting a steer or heifer from the herd in order to inoculate it, provide it with necessary veterinary care, getting it to load onto a truck to be transported to a cattle sale, or any other reason. Cutting is a fascinating sport to watch, as it relies less on the rider and more on the horse’s talent and skill at keeping an animal separate from the herd. The gentlemen on the horse in this scene, wearing the red shirt, is Bob Avila, who is a renowned champion in the related equestrian sports of cutting, reining (which you saw previously when Travis came to the ranch) and working cow horse (which basically combines the two sports in one). Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan (who also plays Travis) is himself a participant in and enthusiast of these three sports (collectively known as “show horses”), and he has sponsored and done announcing for cutting, reining, and working cow horse events for several years, particularly The Run For A Million, which was recently held in August in Las Vegas, and the Brazos Bash, which was recently held at his own horse ranch, the Bosque Ranch near Weatherford, Texas. (The Bosque Ranch is also the namesake of his production company.) Some prominent competitors in these sports have made appearances on the show, like Mr. Avila here.
at the start of the reaction there not f***ing with them. It's called cutting and your horse has to practice this for shows but its so you can "cut " a cow or bull or calf from the herd that scene looks like hes just having a bit of fun though
What was shown was fencing and circling which are both parts of reined cow horse competitions. Cutting was not shown but is also an event depending on the age of the horse and class of competition.
@@TripleTapHK Yea i saw. I should've waited before i commented and just watched the full scene. i knew i was wrong like 30 sec after i commented but thanks
What you're seeing at the start is 'Cow Horses/Cutting' techniques, used to work cattle. Keeping one away from the herd is a valuable skill, because cows have such a strong 'Herd instinct' if/when you need to get one to sell, check/treat, you and your horse has to know how to do it, and do it correctly (So no one gets hurt). In Events, the human Rider doesn't even touch the reins, and it's the horse that's thinking/doing all the work. :-)
@@TripleTapHK Horsback riding definitely involves far more than using the reins. As you mentioned, leg cues/movements, shifting your weight/center of balance in the saddle are both conscious 'Cues' and subconscious (Based off the experience of the Rider), and horses absolutely know and respond to it (Well, those actually paying attention to such things!) ;-) I kept it bare-bones-simple, because that's what 90% of regular people can grasp, but thanks for reading and responding/adding to the topic! :-D
As someone who typically is not a fan of Monica's attitude and way of thinking, (and especially her habit of blaming Kacey and the Dutton name for everything wrong with the world) I actually loved this episode for her and found myself feeling extremely proud of her. Would have been great if she'd, idk, talked to her husband about it first? But then again, there are a lot of things Kacey doesn't discuss with her. Why? Because he thinks he's protecting her and he doesn't want to be fought on things that he thinks needs to be done. And that's exactly what she did this episode. It was extremely risky, it could have ended horribly, but it was also extremely brave and might be her most badass moment of the show. Just like Thomas said, she made a difference. And don't get me started on Moe! That man is a gift.
Everybody gets so mad at Jamie, and understandably so (don't get me wrong), But I can guarantee that if Beth had gone to John early on, not only would Rip not have the sterling reputation he does with John today, but more than likely he would've been dropped off at the train station as well.
This episode is DIRECTLY related to Wind River, which Taylor Sheridan also directed. If you haven't seen that movie, you both should really watch it. You're gonna see some familiar faces in there too.
42:56 The Chief Joseph Ranch, in Darby, Montana (in the Bitterroot Valley, which is many miles away from the Paradise Valley, where the series is set), is where the show was filmed. You can stay there as a guest, but due to the overwhelming popularity of the show, it’s booked solid for the next few years. Taylor Sheridan is not the owner of the Chief Joseph Ranch, though. He owns other ranches, including the Bosque Ranch near Weatherford, Texas, and the legendary 6666 (Four Sixes) Ranch in Guthrie, Texas. The Four Sixes comes into play in Season 4 in several episodes; you’ll see it. It’s humongous.
They aren't messing with the cow, and not training the cow/steer. This is called "Cutting". A "cutting horse" is trained to separate (or cut) a specific cow/calf out of the herd to give medical attention, brand, divide the herd, etc. They have Cutting Horse competitions in the rodeo to show the skills of the horse and rider.
John and Tate remind me so much of my Grandpa and me when I was growing up. One time we were at an auction and I saw this Billy goat I wanted. Pa said no! But I kept raising my finger till the auctioneer said sold to Mr Fred Harris 😂😂 Pa said well a Billy ain't no good alone and then he bought three goats to breed 😊
Quarter horses aren't usually very big, at least in comparison to thoroughbreds and also some of the heavier breeds I think the best riders are the smaller ones but older guys get heavier. That probably explains why the working horses look smaller
That ship sailed months ago. The premiere of Season 5B is only 3 weeks away. Costner said back in June that they weren’t able to agree on scheduling and compensation. But the Yellowstone Universe carries on beyond this series.
@@lynnjohanssen6552 It’s on the back burner for now. Taylor had to fulfill his agreement with Paramount to get the other series he’s been making started, such as 1923, Tulsa King, Special Ops: Lioness, and Land Man, which premieres on Paramount+ soon. There’s also the Yellowstone spinoff/sequel series The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, on the way soon as well. Taylor wants to really carefully craft the 6666 series well, out of respect for its history and heritage and also for the people who live and work there. It’s definitely coming - I’m chomping at the bit for it as well - but we need to give him sufficient time to make it right.
