Sadly Vegas is Vegas. It shot itself in the foot by being initially overpriced, under staffed, not looking after the locals and the dedicated specators. One hit wonder.
Sadly, you're wrong. Prices for tickets event dropped about 20% since November of last year. pricing is similar to other US races now and because the hotels are walking distance to the track its easier, quicker, and cheaper to attend. EVERY new F1 event had issues.
It was very quick and easy for me to get into my zone at F1 Vegas 23, and to my zone from my hotel. The event was super smooth and fun, of course barring Thursday’s issues. I was considering going again this year but just went to Mexico GP so I’m good on F1
Thanks Kym, that was really interesting! Try not to focus on the typical US hype and the celebrities, this is motor racing. I'm an old man, the first race I saw was Albert Park in 1956 with Stirling Moss and Jean Behra. Really looking forward to the race! Greetings from an Aussie in Sweden.
I don’t think it’s lost real hype; it was just overhyped like crazy last year with it being the first time F1 ever raced along the Vegas strip. Perhaps it’s just reached a steady state, but we will have to wait a few years to see if that is the case.
It certainly feels like the insane razzamataz of last season is gone and its' critics have likely accepted that it does work as a race and maybe one of the better ones. I see this one as with the visuals of Singapore with more overtaking. While more and more street - circuits is not what is wanted, i think Las Vegas could become one of the most rewarding ones.
Cut down the black tarps off of the side of the roads and reduce the sidewalk security by half. I was staying at a hotel on the strip and had a terrible time because of the yellow shirt security. That is keeping me away this year.
See the price of hotels? Took a look for 2025, places charging like 20K for a room for the 3 days. If Vegas is quiet this year, it's because of people choosing to not pay those prices.
Simple answer to the question in the title… yes. As an American I was embarrassed by all the carrying ons last year and then f1 media tried to prop it up as “one of the best gp of the year” and the reality is it just wasn’t.
99 overtakes, the most in any dry race since 2016. Overtake of the year in final corner on final lap. Looked like Max might not win on pace. How was it not one of the best races of the year?
Well, I think for visitors of the track that want toview the racing, street races never are great. You just do not get to see the overall situation on the track like you would e.g. in Brazil. And not a particularly large section of the track either.
Sure hope not! Didn't just take the flight into town for nothing! This is my cheapest option though for a race, with a benefit of being in Vegas and visiting friends. Hopefully we get to see a champion crowned.
I have 25k. Let me think, go to the US (nej), to Las Vegas (no) to Gordon Ramsey restaurant (nah) and overpay (nope) for food (I like that) and have a glimpse of F1 cars passing by. Some choices are easy. Sainsbury/Tesco Finest pizza and stay in the sofa.
I loved the broadcast last year. I love Vegas anyway, so getting to see the helicopter shots with all the lights and sights, F1 cars roaring around, and the possibility of seeing Max on the top step winning his 4th consecutive? This is a race to watch for sure.
I thought hullabaloo and razzmatazz was what Las Vegas was all about. Without that, Las Vegas is a pretty sad place. Actually. People posting that it was cheaper to fly to an F1 race in Europe than it was to attend the Las Vegas Grand Prix just because of the prices of tickets and lodging. It's the American way.
I think many of us who still watch your Vegas coverage is because you do great coverage! F1 viewers are stuck watching the race because we are dedicated F1 fans. WE don't have to like Vegas..
No one I know has any interest in watching F1 in Vegas. We have already booked for Hungary next year and we are a short two hour flight from Vegas. The vibe is just off and because the residents hate what that track has done to the city I feel it’s hard to get hyped to go there. I think it was a big mistake to build that track. I think each year it will just get less and less attendees.
I don't like any night races. They lack the atmosphere of seeing the crowd and the surrounds of the track. F1 have treated the crowds and the local businesses like crap. Typical corporate Aholes.
Notice everyone walking around wearing thick jackets. It was 55°F at 6 PM and 48°F by 8 PM. Imagine sitting out in the open like that trying to eat quickly enough before the food chills.
Between Kym's updates and Amanda from Swell Entertainment/Girlypopgo reviews on the Vegas event, they're both channels I feel give in depth and fair, no bs info about it. Keen as to see if it picks up for the weekend.
For Max to be 4 time world champion, he does not have to score 3 more points than Lando... Rather, Lando has to score 3 more points than Max to mathematically remain in the race for the WDC (and thus Max can not celebrate it yet).
What is so unfortunate about Las Vegas, it is not so much about the race but what happens around it (at least last year) such as the glamour happening. The stars and other famous people that you normally never see at F1 are really squeezed out here. And that it is not affordable for the average person to watch it in person and everything is blocked on bridges etc. as is possible like in Monaco, that is what you get when you race on a street circuit. And then those exorbitant prices...... .. As many say it is more a show issue and for the elite than that it is about the race.
I don't really know what hype means. But what I can say is that for me, all of the nonsense that comes with the american races is a real turn off. Maybe I'm just old, but all I want is to see cars on track. I don't need interviews, I don't need to see what silly things the drivers are wearing, I don't care which unimportant people Martin bumps into on the grid. It would also help if the F1 media would stop disingenuously proposing it as the best Grand Prix, because I would guess the majority of viewers strongly disagree.

The Dinner on The Paddock kinda sums it all up. Don't know when that was held, but it was 55°F at 6 PM and 48°F by 8 PM last night. They had a banquet in what is nearly a parking lot in conditions that likely chilled the food before they could finish it. The race starts six hours after sunset in conditions that barely allow the race to be practical at a time that makes it unwatchable for most of the local fans.
I'll be honest and say here that there is nothing more off putting than the bobastic over the top irellevant crap we saw last year. Laaaast year the F1 Event as a whole was nothing more than a side show, a necessary evil to have so that we can showpiece Las Vegas and the supercilious "celebrities" who are there for nothing else but to inflate their already over inflated egoes. Seriously, F1 could have done a considerably better job in Las Vegas with the amount of money they spent, and could have had a dedicated legacy track, meeting every sustainability parameter they set themselves and set the new norm for F1 as a whole. Their circuit could then have done MotoGP, Indy Series, F2 and F3 and a host of other categories like IMSA or WEC too. The current circuit is a lame duck flat track, abhorrently expensive and phenominally expensive .... barricading, closing off, gantry set up and removal, shutting down .... disruption all round that disrupts everything. Sustainability could have been assured by dedicated rail infrastructure for not only the fans but equally, every team too. Hubs from the Airport and from city center would link the track directly.

I got screwed over at the 2005 USGP. I never went back..., and I live in Indianapolis.

You mean America's Got Tacky.

When tickets go from $800 to $200 you know it's really bad. F1 gambled on Vegas and it's just an awful track with awful viewing.

Why so many races in the US…why Vegas, Miami, both awful tracks, and Way way way overpriced tickets…….
The American dream will become a nightmare…
They treated the fans like garbage last year. Why would I spend $5k to fly to Vegas for that? I thought the race itself was cool last year. 🎉
Thanks for the free tour ! We can’t wait to watch Saturday if not Friday night ! ❤️❤️❤️✌️
Some lovely photos in this video Kym. Especially the huge dining table. Job well done.

they did a driver intro in texas a few years back that was perfect

They have F1 ageed to rename the ‘paddock’ to the ‘pit’, after the Vegas mass shooter was called Stephen Paddock.
So much tacky overpriced s..tuff.
Crofty looks like it might be better to skip a dinner rather than hosting one 🤷♂

First year always brings the most people because of the inaugural event, US Indianapolis 2000 was huge and saw drop off after that first year.
Bad thing for the Las Vegas GP, Good thing for the sport.
Just trivia, but I noticed the drinks price board said "soft drinks", I thought Americans called it "Soda"
Soft drink just means non-alcoholic beverage.
Orange juice, apple juice etc are soft drinks, not sodas.
Soft drinks is used universally throughout the US. Different regions use their own alternative descriptors such as sodas, Cokes and pop.
I went last year and had a blast. I’m hoping for a great race with things a little tighter at the front in 2024.

True! As long as he leaves Vegas with 60 points (or more) difference to Lando he’s World Champion.
*lose* is the word you're wanting to use. Loose is what happens when the belt on your jeans isn't tight enough.
