before you spend $200+ on a replacement control board, quickly try this: reseat the ribbon cable that is shown at around the 1:30 mark in this video. on my whirlpool model mh8150xj, i was getting an F6 error. i reseated the ribbon cable (i had to do it twice), which cleared the error and fixed the microwave.
awesome. I keep seeing that replacing the board will get rid of a humming that im getting from the magnetron when i close the door and the microwave should be off. Do you think this will fix my issue?
I was getting the F1E4 error and a humming sound. I reseated the ribbon cable as you mentioned and this cleared the error and is working again. THANKS!
Thks. Great video! I have to do this for my parent's Whirlpool microwave because the light stays on. The microwave was built in Mar 2022, so it's not that old, and of course, the warranty ran out right before the light started staying on. smh
Hello. Do you know what is p4 (white cable you have removed first) is responsible for? I've got the part to replace and this cable is not connected to a new board ... this p4 pin has no pin anymore ..
🆘 Customers need to think twice before buying the Whirlpool microwave- wmh53521hz-5. When the light won’t shut off the only way to fix it is to buy a new motherboard, and they range in price from $156 to over $300 online plus tax & shipping. Also $150 for service call to install it. And it’s an inherent problem in this Whirlpool model. You can buy a new microwave for $450 or pay that much for repairs or buy an LED stick up under cabinet lights for $12 to $18 as a alternative solution.
There's a strange noise that sounds like a wire grinding in a fan. The noise seems to be coming from the control board. Is this one of the symptoms of a control board that needs replacing?

You reversed the brown and black terminal going to the MW power relay will that have an impact on operations?
Thanks for the great video. Saved some money for me ;)
The door on our WP microwave kinda separated. Anew door was gonna be $248. Lowe’s had the unit on sale for $209.

I have a same problem. Did you solve it by any chance?
Changed out the board and the light still won’t go out. 😡
