After being issued 12 sets of OCPs over the years I always liked how comfortable they were, and they make great pants for hunting. The problem is after just washing and standard use they become thin and I had to repair or replace multiple pairs due to my rifle, when slung across my front , the rails/front sight would rub against them while walking and creating an awkward hole. Full disclosure, sometimes I didn't repair the hole because it was a good way to air out the boys on those hot summer days down range.

I don't leave the property when wearing camo to avoid being called out (rightfully) as a non-Military LARPing Poser or Cosplayer, for short. But, these Fake G3's work very well for performing cabin maintenance, grilling, walk to the gate, mow, and other simple, non-painting jobs. I do a little running and gunning on our homemade range, but there is not much combat in northern Michigan. A 'little' means very little since I'm an old fat man with bad knee's.

After doing LEO work and moving over to Fugitive Recovery work, I can say that the TruSpec 24/7 pants do hold up well. Some I've had for upwards of 5 years. The only downsides I've found is that the colors do tend to fade fast and the crotches are usually the first to go out. The velcro pocket closures do hold up nicely. There are plenty of storage area in the pockets although not all as practical as the design intends. Final thought is the internal knee pad pockets. They are very large kinda a one size fits all pocket and the factory kneepads can be hard to find. Most often the guys on my team use the large, thin foam pads. The only real problem with this is the pads tend to shift during movement. Another good pant that is comparable to the TruSpec in both price and quality is the Proper pant. With Proper, the pockets are fewer but the placement works better for some situations. But the sizing does seem to be a tiny bit tighter on Proper Vs. TruSpec. Both have large beltloops that accommodate my 2” wide duty belt and rig very comfortable and are great pants and will last a long time in the field for light to medium heavy uses. That's enough from me, love the videos. Please keep up the great work.
truespec expeditions are good as well. better fabrics and have stretch panels similar to crye. also the pocket placement is moved to the front of the pant so holsters do not get in the way of accessing pockets.
5.11s are the way to go. I've had pairs last through 3+ years of farm work and all kinds of work that is abusive to pants. I can train MMA in them with no loss of freedom of movement (I can still throw headkicks and work all sorts of jiujitsu). The pair I've worn to 5 years has finally worn out, and it is literally just the area over the hip pockets because I always have stuff in them. They are well worth the extra price, and you can usually get them 10-25% off if you wait for a holiday. My only complaint is that the cargo pockets could be a little larger. Also, there are only 5 belt loops, which doesn't pose a problem for my 30 inch waist, but I've seen reviews by larger people that complained about it.
I concur. I wear the ABR Pro pant on a daily basis. They’re comfortable, they have good stretch, plenty of pockets for snacks, they hold up a full size pistol just fine, my only quarrel with the ABR Pro Pant is there is no provision for knee pads unless you use external.

@15:05- have you had many ops running through aluminum factories? Would love to hear more about the dangers of "foilage". Did they allow you to at least make hats? 😂😂
In all honesty you guys use your gear really hard, which is why I'm always surprised that guys buy and use the so called airsoft copies as they tear and rip so easily.
Because they tends to last long enough to justify their price. It's not that stupid if you think of pants as consumables. I actually found Emerson to last longer than Tru-Spec, but maybe I just got lucky.
Those Navy comments doe. 10/10 Banter. GT, you should totally get some custom raid modified tailoring done. Could be a cool way to revitalize those Tri-color DCU pants you have.
3 years late but here's my pitch. I've got a couple pairs of $80 5.11s and they're awesome. Very durable material, stretchy waistband and panels for the knees and gooch, pockets for knee pads if desired. I've used them for air soft, roofing, landscaping, hiking, and just all day wear for work and shopping trips. No problems or complaints except the cords at the bottom of the pant leg to tie it are a bit long if you aren't wearing boots to tuck it into.
I always reenforce all my buttons with fishing line. If you do that you never have to worry about a button coming off. Additionally when you wash any of your gear wash it in cold water with with something like dawn that is very gentle on the material. Never throw any of your gear in the dryer.
I absolutely love this channel, so much valuable and concise information. Thank you, keep it up brother, and God bless you. PS, I love how you don't bash airsoft "operators" and that is awesome because I, as an airsofter, look up to operators like you.

I really, really respect his claims and opinions because he speaks purely from experience and makes a clear effort to acknowledge what he cant definitively speak on, rather than speaking without basis.
Just looked up the Crye fields, about $200 these days. Plus the kneepads. Gotta love it. Combats FR's are almost $350 plus the pads. I'm not normally a 5.11 guy, but at least they've recognized that there's a market for only slightly over priced but also very tough general purpose pants.
5.11 has realistic prices, crye precision are the jordans of tactical gear imo cause whatever they do/make other brands do just as good for a fraction of the cost with some minor, relatively cheap adjustments/customization
The Nyco Ripstop has it’s pros and cons. There was a case a few years back where some Allies trained with a Reserves unit, and in the last photo one guy had a tear where his nuts were hanging out. Nobody noticed until it got to their embassy.
In General, if you want some really good kit for little and your in Europe, most of the British army kit is quite good, usually anything after the year 2000 the kit is usually higher quality than the older stuff which will more likely than not be heavily used and unusable for any real heavy duty wear and tear, the British body armour in general isn’t the best if you have a smaller build of body, if you have a wide chest then the body armour will be fine for you, osprey MK3 and MK4’s are good but depending on the type of armour you put in it, it will get heavy, the new virtus plate carrier isn’t a good vest so don’t pay for it, has rows of molle 7 long, so you can only fit 3 mag pouches and you have 1 row left over.

I have been wearing Arc’teryx Leaf Combat Pats gen2 for over 6 years now, and almost noting else. Best pants ever, but of course they do not make them anymore (but I have 3 pairs stashed in my closet). The material is stretchy, comfortable and strong, like new after almost 7 years! Check their Leaf Xfunctional SV pants also, same material but bit more civilised look without thigh pockets.
I know on my hunting pants I love suspenders yes old man brown suspenders, when carrying items in my pocket that are heavy you never have to pull up your pants when out in rough country in the mountains in Colorado.
Also do you know where I could find level 5 from the pcu system? Orc still sells the pants for now but I can't find the jacket anywhere other than ebay
Callsign Beaver ORC L5 was discontinued like ages ago. Your only source is eBay or private sellers from anywhere, forums, Insta, Facebook groups etc. Trust me, if you want to get a PCU go for the Patagucci L5, that was part of the 2nd Generation of PCU's and is better (apparently). Or go with what I think would be more advisable, grab something from the Arc'Teryx LEAF line. Great brand, great stuff but expect to shell out a lot of money.

Totally agree with the TruSpec pants. I have several that have outlasted several boots. Cargo pocket rips are my most common pant failure.
I'm gonna fight the holy war in my shorts
Mike Renton worked in Rhodesia 🤷♂️
Strong choice.
Please keep crapping on us Airsofters, I need more content to convince my team to stop buying shitty gear.
Garand Thumb Semapo Gear babe
Active duty army. No issue with condor pouches.
Losttraveler and Ive seen a plate fall out a condor carrier on a stx lane because the stitching was so shit. condor is bad.
*goes to close youtube tab, sees new Garand Thumb vid* Thanks dick.
Those Navy comments doe. 10/10 Banter. GT, you should totally get some custom raid modified tailoring done. Could be a cool way to revitalize those Tri-color DCU pants you have.
You’re a nut and i love it! You entertain me and help increase my knowledge. Keep on keepin on!
This topic should be updated since there are quite a few developments regarding combat pants that have taken place over the last few years.
So, tactical capri pants are out this year?
Those are sooo last year
@Jeff Wilkins Dude, have you ever seen Mary Tyler Moore in capris? th-cam.com/video/OK8gywtambg/w-d-xo.html
@Muffinator I don't expect attention from her and I don't give her money. I merely admire the form.
How do you know about yu-gi-oh unless...
crow13b garand nerd
Confirmed.
Silkies and flannels are what make real operators rahhhhhh
I operate in my hush puppies and knee high woolies
3 years late but here's my pitch. I've got a couple pairs of $80 5.11s and they're awesome. Very durable material, stretchy waistband and panels for the knees and gooch, pockets for knee pads if desired. I've used them for air soft, roofing, landscaping, hiking, and just all day wear for work and shopping trips. No problems or complaints except the cords at the bottom of the pant leg to tie it are a bit long if you aren't wearing boots to tuck it into.
That tri-color desert camo and m81 are the best
I wear the la police gear pants and they work pretty well
LIL, FURY really good for the money
LIL, FURY when it’s my money LAPG.. when it’s my units money.. bdu’s ......
TruSpec are all I rock when I send fuckers to the Shadow Realm.
I prefer to show up to the holy war in swimming trunks. If I'm gonna go in the field and get chafed, I'm going all the way.
I’ve been wearing Arc’teryx gear for the past couple years. No complaints so far.
I wear chuck Norris style fight Jean's and cowboy boots.
Last time I was in a gun fight they called it "desert storm". Not sure what that name was all about.
"Its not a problem unless you're in the Navy" I'm fucking dying dude, well played
This guy cracks me up! Love the dry delivery.
It's not foilage, it's foliage. ;-)
This man really really really likes knee pads.
So much casual shade thrown at the Navy. Love it.
The Nyco Ripstop has it’s pros and cons. There was a case a few years back where some Allies trained with a Reserves unit, and in the last photo one guy had a tear where his nuts were hanging out. Nobody noticed until it got to their embassy.
The Truspecs fit really good if you get the 24/7 stretch bands on the waist. Good video!
I like them
They fit well n allow good mobility
The shorts and pants are quality imo 👍
@ 24:40 minutes Arc teryx... " I've never tried them on or wore them but I've felt them, I've felt them a lot, and they feel good"??? LMAO! Sounds more like a Navy guy LOL
I was issued two sets of Drifire tops and bottoms. The built-in knee and elbow pads are for gun shoots and rigging equipment.
Thanks for the video! For the budget minded guys the LA Police gear brand of pants are excellent and hold up well.
Thanks! My pocket book isn't Gucci enough for $420 Crye pants. All of these brands have gotten so much more expensive since this video.
"I felt them, I felt them a lot, and they feel good." -GT
"I've felt them a lot" (touches pj's inner thigh then gives them the "it's on" look)
oh you have no idea.
I know on my hunting pants I love suspenders yes old man brown suspenders, when carrying items in my pocket that are heavy you never have to pull up your pants when out in rough country in the mountains in Colorado.
I wear cowboy cut wranglers for EVERYTHING ! the best pick up line is a "tight pair of wranglers"
How are Levi Strauss jeans as a tactical pants? I'm poor and I blew all my money on Magic the Gathering cards and Mtn Dew.
kozzy18 unless it was code red or Baja blast, you wasted your money.
The West was won with blue jeans my nigga
Wrangler > Levi's
Pants aren't tactical ... people are....or aren't. Just saying!
levi strauss in anti 2a
great video brother,
can you make a video about comunication systems
It's on the list for sure!
Still haven't done that cold weather gear video yet. ;)
Cold weather? What do I need that for when I'll be LARPing... I mean... operating in doors all the time?
When I was in ycp (basically a psuedo military program run by the nat guard the one I went to was pretty brutal) we were issued standard reissued bdu pants and a sewing kit.......we originally wondered what the sewing kit was for once we hit the obstacle course (which I was surprised to find was actually greened out on Google maps) and later that day before lunch we all learned how to see.....and if our pants wernt in reasonable repair before dinner.......we didn't eat.....2 platoons starved to death that night
Good video. Another to consider is Kitanica. They make outstanding stuff that is overbuilt and bad-ass.
