Another enthusiastic vote for 8% yellow! :)

Great testing. The 8% yellow is a very popular color at the moment. Greetings from the Netherlands 🌷

Thank you! And good to know about the yellow. Hopefully I'll get back to that side of the pond one days soon.

I also love the matt finish. My favourite is the yellow and lighter blue.

Great info I like the blues, Maybe for your next experiment you can try single fire pottery or raw glazing there is a FB group on it. Wiating to get my new to me kiln hooked up to try

Enjoy your kiln! I haven't tried a single fire yet - right now my pots often need some touching up and doing that at the bisque stage is helpful since they're less fragile. However if I can get my slip casting process down, I might give it a try.

Thank you for these videos, really helpful. Could you please let me know what temp you fired the kiln too for the glaze firing? Also what casting slip are you using? Take care :)

Glad you enjoy them. I fire my pots to cone 6. As for casting slip, I've tried a few different things and right now am using dry clay which is formulated for slip casting from my local pottery supply shop: shop.clay-planet.com/dry-icelia-porcelain.aspx

While the 8% colors are dramatic, it makes rather expensive slip. Pastel shades are probably a better target for body stains, at least using mason stains, there may be more economical options for some colors.

If price is a primary consideration, then yes one might want to explore other options. A thin shell on the outside would be one obvious way (like in doing carvings with multiple colors). And for some colors various oxides might work.
