    Interesting points. I've had horrible experiences dating both Black, White, Latino, and everything in between. I think it has more so to do with the individual's level of education, exposure, and personal background than anything. Even within a Black on Black experience, we are not monoliths and there can be vast differences as it relates to cultural understandings within our families. As long as both are willing to actively listen to the other, and challenge oneself to remove biased thoughts that may have been in your head since you were able to express yourself - I think that's the key to any successful relationship. It's not easy and requires work.

    Hey man. I’m from Detroit where there is already a racial divide for sure. I’ve had many experiences with friends who happen to be black. When I’ve been pulled over the officer always ,asks my black friends for their ID first before mine. Even when there are three other friends they ask,me,last. On one occasion they asked them and not mine. I was outraged but afraid to even speak up for fear of what this dude would do next. It’s even happened when I happened to to be dating a black man in public. Asking for my BF’s ID for no reason but not mine. Thought I would share. Keep making my day “everyday”

    I was with my partner, " Who was white" l loved him immensely and unfortunately lost him to leukemia after 26 yrs. I do understand where you are coming from. But l molded my man and made him understand exactly how he did not know that some of the things he said would be deemed to be prejudiced. A came to realize that some Anglo people don't really know they are sometimes stereotyping other nationalities. I had to explain to him that l loved him because he was him, and l wanted him to love me for me. It was hard being in a biracial relationship, but l wouldn't trade those 26 yrs for anything. I miss him immensely. I don't think l will date again for the simple fact it takes yrs to make a relationship solid, and at 60 l don't have the have the patience to try, so now it will be about me. Don't let love pass you by. No matter what shape, color, or nationality in comes in.❤❤❤

      Great comment. The one thing Samson didn't go into was the 2 of them discussing what kind of person you are. What is your moral code? Do you know what a moral code is? I had a brief a relationship with a white man who was a former priest and we would have discussions about treating each other well as well as others.. It didn't last soley due to me. I was immature and didn't know a good thing when I had it. Currently I'm single but if I were the person I am now I probably could look back over 24 years of happiness and into the years to come.

  • @RecentlyDiscovered
    @RecentlyDiscovered 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I'm sorry you went through that. The idea that "love conquers all" sounds nice, but the reality is interracial relationships take work on both sides. A partner that's right for you should be willing to put that work in. They should have the self awareness to be attentive to your needs and listen to feedback without getting defensive when you say that something makes you uncomfortable. This is something I (white guy) try to strive for when talking to/dating POC, but even good intentions don't stop us from making mistakes. Just be on the lookout for those who are/aren't open to learning from them. And DMV shoutout 🤙!

    I just don't date white guys, I've had the worst dates with them. It's either they are boring or show signs of fetshistic behaviour. I'm Asian and one time I dated this white guy and he assumed I was lactose intolerant! The other time he decided to make "Thai green curry". that shit was so unseasoned I cried for the chicken. This video was excellent. I know it may not have been intended to be funny, but when you talked about the chitterlings and collard greens, I just rolled with laughter for quite a while. I imagine you probably also heard at some point in that encounter that "your not like other black men." I'm from the age of multi-lingualism, where you knew how to speak in every stiuation and being articulate was the norm unless you were speaking hood with your friends. Thanks for a wonderful inspiring clear example of articulating the lack of desire to be fetishized.

      @markbaxter8748 หลายเดือนก่อน

      LOL I dont know what chitlins are but i definitely wont be bringing them on a date. :). I'm from a australia and people think we throw shrimp on the barbie. If a black guy bought me some shrimp I would think it was funny. But as australian we are used to americans not really knowing much about our culture. Maybe because im white and not used to racism i would not be offended by the food someone bought me. It shows I have a lot to learn about being sensitive to other cultures and not overcompensating with their cultural norms whoever they are.

    • @Babymem15
      @Babymem15 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@markbaxter8748 This instance isn't about an "overcompensating with cultural norms" The individual was simply racist and fetishizing his Blackness. There are numerous racist undertones about this encounter that you may be unaware. "Chitlins" are pig intestines, made into delicacy food by enslaved Black people when they were only given the scraps to eat by the white people who enslaved them. This is deeper than bringing someone food of their culture. It's ignorant to think that someone would like chitlins, just because they're Black.

  • @beverett1747
    @beverett1747 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I directly asked the black man I was dating if I could be fetishizing him. He said, “Will you introduce me to your friends”, and I said absolutely. He said, then no. I dated a black man for the first time earlier this year. We are now just friends and that is great. All the moment, I am only interested in black men. I think it has something to do with being denied even friendships with black boys when I was little. I was raised in the 60’s. To me at the moment, I think I am a white boy going through a healing process around racism. I am fortunate to have these loving and open black gay men in my life who desire me and I desire them. It is just natural for me to have compassion and empathy when they share a story about something that has happened to them that is either racially motivated or at least culturally motivated. I totally agree that love is love even within our queer community and being open to that love is the most important thing.

    • @jerronwesley4473

      Love is not just love. In America not that long ago Blacks were openly lynched in front of everyone and no one has been held accountable.
      No reparations and no hate crimes bill protecting ADOS either.
      FBI reports that Blacks have more hate crimes against us than any other ethnic group here.
      Blacks are the only group in America whose right to vote is voted on every few years.
      And Black newborn babies were fed to alligators across America and no one has been held accountable. But they do have dolls here depicting this absolute horror.
      And there was a time when Blacks could not marry one another ....not that long ago either.
      Love is not love and miscegenation laws are still on books across America.
      In fact successful business districts bka Black Wall Street originally in Durham ÑC was bombed, looted and destroyed by Caucasians because of swirling or accusations of it. Also another Black Wall Street aka successful business districts filled with former slaves in Wilmington NC was bombed looted and destroyed in 1898 by Caucasians. Happend again in Knoxville TN, E St Louis IL, Tulsa Oklahoma and Rosewood FL too.
      Love is not just love and when Blacks mix with Caucasians we lose our wealth, identity, culture, land, lives, history and more.

    It is important, that in every relationship, there is going to be some educating to be done! Wherever there’s a multicultural engagement, we must lead with love & understanding. One of the most important factors should be open and clear communication between the two. There will always be family challenges. It should be about the two individuals but alas, I feel your pain and can see your point of view.

    Sometimes I hear folks say we are all the same and that we should focus on what we share. And certainly as human beings we do share a lot regardless of race or ethnicity. But there is lot we DO NOT share in terms of culture and history. White folks most often don't recognize that. They want to minimize the differences to their own advantage. They focus on what they see as black culture not the totality of it. Hip hop and collard greens, as you point out. Few get it. I'm not saying that is true of every white person but I have to say it is more common than not. But unless a white person is truly immersed in the black community and knows it's history, I think that is is perilous for black men to date white men. And even then their are issues to confront. What I find so curious is how many interracial couples don't' even deal with the issue or discuss it. Again not all but many.

I've been reading Black authors and studying Black history since I was a kid, so at least I had a clue what he had to deal with, and of course in 20 years I saw plenty of the mistreatment he experienced. But instead of being bitter, he was incredibly loving and generous.

    I’m so very sorry that happened to you. My mind is blown. I understand about dating someone that can relate to your own experiences but please know that not all white guys are like that. That has to be an extreme case of ignorance on a whole other level. Why can’t men in general just be themselves and learn about each other rather than imposing stereotypes that make exactly no sense on each other. It’s ok to be curious and ask questions about culture but what that guy did was insane. As a white man raised in the south, there are stereotypes made about southerners in general that just aren’t true or just extreme. I love your videos and i learn a lot from them.

All the little racist/sexist micro-aggressions he would throw out(that would become more prevalent when he drank). I had to let him be for a moment cuz i'm not far from slapping the full fledged sh*t out of him for that ish he was saying. I already had to tell him about himself😒
    Anyway, i appreciate your video's so much. I found you in January. I loved your stand-up, short movies and all your content. My son came out to me a little over a year in a half ago. I had no problem, because i'm a bi/ w/ a pref of women myself. I definitely worry for him for a million reasons.

    I have a black coworker that is whitewashed and strictly dates white guys. I be trying to explain to him that 90% of these boys want you for the wrong reason, but to him it don’t matter 🤷🏾‍♂️. White washed gay black men also hate to see two black men dating each other. It be eating them up inside, especially if the couple is cute.

    • @LordArkanaNavy
      @LordArkanaNavy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on with this it’s because black gay men aren’t desired unless it’s the thug trade stereotype (for 🍆) and then you’ll get thrown under the bus and stripped of this so called “lgbt privilege” we are still black men and face the same things straights do with other races in society. You can even be a Butch queen with a completely male wardrobe and no makeup wigs or nothing the minute you display any sign of feminine even if it’s dominante femininity it’s a problem that also comes from the black straight community they only accept gay stuff if they date outside the race because it’s like well you sold out to the white, Latino, etc there’s your manhood even it’s a thriving black gay couple they hate to see it just look at Places like ATL, NYC, DC, Chicago etc where it’s more common idc tho I can’t date outside my race

    I just saw this video and I have had two black Lovers, partners, and long term relationship.
    One way in New Orleans unfortunately I lost him to diabetes.
    After 6 years together.
    At the time I met him his younger brother had just passed from diabetes.
    While we were together he lost his mother.
    His loss to me was horrible and traumatic.
    We lived together and traveled and enjoyed our time together.
    He was a Navy guy and a great young man.
    My second relationship with a black guy was after I moved to San Antonio Texas.
    We became so close I ended becoming great friends with his sister and her daughters.
    His Parents would come to my house and his mom would cook, we did great fun things together.
    We lasted for about 3 years but again he was a Military man and was finally transferred to Germany.
    Naturally this ended out relationship but I remained friends with him family.
    Yes, we had to learn things about each other and our separate cultures.
    Other wise I have found that Black men seemed to be looking for more financial support and help.
    However, I understand and respected our differences but I will say I have found it difficult to be in a relationship with a Black man.
    Even though I have met this past year a super nice black guy and we seem to click and are really soul mates.
    Love life is absolutely beautiful and fantastic for each other because we care about each other and how each other are satisfied with sex, cuddle time and just being in each other’s company.

    I don't give a flying rat's ass about a person's color. If he's white and treats me right, then he deserves my attention. If he's black, Latino, Asian, Native, Pacific-Islander, Middle-Eastern ( you get my point), and treats me right, then he gets my attention. For me, personally, I have had NOTHING but issues & bullshit when dating my own fellow blacks. So, it's not that I haven't dated black men, I have, which is why I no longer do. Get it? I much PREFER white men. That's MY preference, and there's NOTHING wrong with that. We ALL have preferences, and there's NOTHING wrong with that, either. Without question, MY personal experiences while dating white men has been much more pleasant, much less difficult than MY experiences with black men. I choose to be happy in this life, and for ME, I have been happier, less stressed, less argumentative, less having to deal with bullshit, less having to worry about someone pulling their own weight, less having to pay someone else's bills, less worried about cheating (should I go on?) with white men compared to black men. That's just MY experience, and noone can speak on MY experiences but me. I'm NOT saying there aren't any good black men out there, I'm just saying that I have not met him, AND I'm no longer even looking. I found EVERYTHING I'm looking for in my white partner of eight years.

    In the past I have dated white european men, Spanish, Latvian etc, and have enjoyed them all for their different cultural characteristics. In relationships like that I have always ensured that they (and most importantly their immediate family) see, understand and respect me has an equal period!.
    I remember in my first serious relationship this was an important factor has the family (spanish) were all from and based in an isolated historical spanish village (me being the only black person in the village, although their son was out and gay) and looked upon as a 'lesser' equal from their point of view.
    I am biracial ,and have been raised with black, white and biracial cousins and their different cultures. Therefore I suppose I do not let anyone's ignorance or intolerance deter or make me question myself, and always let them see, that it is 'they' who have to work for this....not the other way round.

As an australian who occasionally meets black american guys i would love to be better educated on what is offensive. I'm not that ignorant. But it's always great to get the perspective from a black guy. There are nuances that I may not be aware of. I think I'm pretty mindful of not entering into stereotypes or fetishizing. But i'm always keen to learn more to improve our encounters.

    I'm so sorry you had this experience, Sampson. I'm a gay white male who predominantly dates African American men, and I can really relate to your story. One time I was on a date with a black guy, and we were at a club and neither of us drank. We both just had water. So driving back to his place, he was driving, we were pulled over by a cop, who was white, and the cop did nearly the same thing that you described! The cop said that we were swerving across the center line, but I know that was not true at all. Because again, we didn't drink anything at the club, just water. So then the cop flashed his flashlight in the car at my date who was driving, and then at me, and then he took my date's driver's license, but he didn't take mine. My date had an EXEMPLARY driving history, so after about what seemed like 10 minutes, he came back to my date's car, handed him back his license, and said something like drive safely. 1) He was not swerving over the line and was driving perfectly. 2) I could tell my date was a little embarrassed and I felt terrible for him because there was no reason for him to be stopped. And 3) we were having a great night out but it was ruined because this police officer pulled us over for absolutely no reason. So we went home, went to bed, and I went back to my home the next day, and we talked on the phone a few times, but that was really it. I learned that African American men and women have a different experience when driving then every other person on the road, and it doesn't matter what time of the day or night. They must be EXTRA careful. Cars are very important to me, as is driving, and cars were important to him, too, which was part of our mutual attraction. But the fact that African American men have to be careful when driving to work, driving on the weekends, and just driving anywhere never even occurred to me before that night. And this event took place 20 years ago! So to all my gay black friends out there, PLEASE be careful and stand in your truth.

      I’m pleased that you’re honest enough to admit that BLACK men have to deal with constant racism & discrimination by these white cops every time they get behind a steering wheel.
      It would be great if you and some of your white friend would start a campaign by sharing this information you shared here and by making it a mission to educate your fellow white counterparts about the hurt, pain and danger they impose on us black men who are just trying to enjoy the gift of life like y’all are.

    Great point to your video, I am so sorry you experienced that... But i do want people to understand that when it comes to interracial dating it's not always just black and white dating.. you have black with Hispanic, black with asain, black with middle eastern possibly. Not everything all the time is just black and white. It still surprises me that in 2022 that people still think interracial dating just involves just white and black. I am black and I am with a Hispanic man and he is so incredible. He supports black people and he is even more black that i am when it comes to culture 😅 trust me. The world, it gets better because not everyone is the same shitty white guy he explained in the video. Again I'm so sorry you had to experience that. We are a community that's supposed to stand up for equality and acceptance likes act like it and not be racist towards one another.

    Just to respond to your intro and haven’t watched the whole video, you are right about blacks throwing shade at other blacks and I’m not black but have noticed that. I actually noticed that blacks have always out here in Cali competitive with other blacks. Whether it’s the how they dress, dance, car they drive. I just thought it was the culture bc I grew up hanging out in a black neighborhood back in the days and it was like that even with the straights. Kinda happy for you in your face, but talking a bunch of smack behind you back. East coast might have the brotherhood, but I’ve seen shade out there also. Look at the east coast ball scene and it’s lovin’ and all, but when it comes to who’s gonna be number one, true colors come out and it’s all about them. I thought it was a cultural thing . Anyway, this maybe a different perspective.
