These lessons are all very well put together and fantastically useful! As a cadet forces instructor in the UK I really appreciate you making these publicly available. Many thanks.
I've always loves the trumpeters resource. I've been using this aince I was in high school and then college. Bow that I'm a Marine Corps veteran and currently serving in the Army, I plan on becoming an Army trumpet player. Thabk you for all you do and remember trumpets lead the way!
So finally I made the jump and bought a student trumpet in Bb. The journey begins and I will use this video as fabulous starting point to learn this very nice instrument. Thank you again for your great job. Franck from France.
You can use whatever pattern suits the situation. Brass players often use TTK in fanfares where a strong accent is needed after the triplet (TTK T). long patterns of triplets are often easier alternating T's and K's, such as TKT KTK TKT KTK. Whatever works for you is fine.
Hey that's Ginger Turner! Awsome! When she was in Phoenix she played every kind of gig you can use a trumpet on and she was brilliant every time. Some my best best experiences in that town were playing next to her. A true virtuoso.
my band instructor was in the military I think it was the army but I'm not sure. i was very excited when he sent this to us and it was by u guys. the military just does not get enough appreciation for all u guys do keep up the good work!
Emilio, the song that SFC Johnson is playing is 'Someday My Prince Will Come'. The song was written by Larry Morey (lyrics) & Frank Churchill (music) and was first featured Walt Disney's animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
Thanks so much for all these great resources! They really help out my beginners! Thank you for your service to our country! Without military bands, we'd have no bands at all! God Bless!
Soy un Ecuatoriano de la Fuerza Aérea.. y le doy mis agradecimientos por esta información en el área de la trompeta .... Bien amigos de la Armada de los EE.UU... Saludos

A very good video. It covers all the areas you will practice in learning the trumpet, at various beginner and intermediate levels. Best advice is get a good instructor though. Giving a beginner Arban's and saying "have at it" is a lesson in frustration - they have no idea the purpose of an exercise or how it is supposed to sound. You need a plan to progress, and help make those small changes in practice that lead to big results. With an hour a day practice, this is 2 years of condensed info.
Ian, our educational video series is provided to educators free of charge. They are posted here for you to access, as well. If you haven't already, please consider taking private lessons. A private teacher in your area will be able to help you with specific issues you might be having trouble with.
The gentleman who played the flugelhorn has a beautiful sound on the flugelhorn--2 qs-what make and model is the flugelhorn and what mouthpiece ie make and model is he using?
It depends if you're still a beginner or more advanced and if this is a normal thing for you. The best thing to do is to get a teacher who can see and hear you in person! When my tone isn't very centered, it is usually because maybe I drank too much coffee that day, I'm nervous to play, or my air support is poor. Sometimes good ol' practicing will cure it because you'll get stronger if you practice correctly. Always stop when you're chops or mind are tired! Good luck!

I´m very pleased to have found your video. I have deep respect for your feeling about music and I admire your ability to instruct in a playful manner. Thank´s a lot. Karl, Aalen, Germany
What is the song played at 26:55? It's the beginning of the Range and Endurance Chapter. I can not seem to find that song listed in the Credits at 1:27:50 and I would really like to know what it is.
How can I get an original copy of the DVD? I looked on the site and it is not for sale. It seems like you need to represent a school or other institution, it that right. Please let me know. Thanks!
There's something I've been told that directly contradicts one of your teachings. When warming down, I was told to play loud, low notes so the lips could recover, but you recommend softer tones. Should I change my warm down exercises to use softer dynamics?
have you tried just using a 5C or a 7C? (beginner mouthpiece) The smaller the cup size number, the smaller the mouth piece. When you get better at playing higher notes, (above the staff) you move up to a smaller mouthpiece size.
+Obinna Luminary The Army Field Band as well at the other special bands and the rest of Army bands are all positions that are given after an audition. So in a sense, you can definitely volunteer as long as you meet the Army's requirements and win the audition. Do you play an instrument?
CODboyX No one in this video plays on a Strad 43, but a few of us were using Bach Strads with a 37 bell. The section at that time (and currently) use Bb trumpets by Bach, Blackburn, and Yamaha.
David Andres Garzon Sanchez Some of our DVD versions have Spanish subtitles. Unfortunately, we do not have a version with a Spanish voice-over. If you are an educator of any kind, you may request a DVD by contacting our educational coordinator.
A wonderful resource!! Every trumpet student and player should be familiar with this. Thank you!!
Many thanks to the generosity of the United States Army Field Band, and their professional personnel.

Im an intermeadeate player and i had problems with a pinched sound. This video (and a larger mouthpiece) helped me fix that.
It is amazing how our army can have trained killers and trained musicians.
King David: killer & muscian Solomon said it best. "There is nothing new under the sun."
I watched a lot of video to start trumpet and this one is the most complete one. Thank you
That is "Someone to Watch Over Me" by George Gershwin. Originally from the musical Oh, Kay! (1926).

Until I watched this video I had no idea that the trumpet could sound so beautiful and so smooth, especially in a trumpet ensemble.

That army field band uniform has a strong resemblance to the Marines' dress blues uniform. It looks sharp.

This really is a tremendous learning tool. Wonderfully complete. Thanks for posting!
Phenomenal video!
The guy at 4:55 sounds like the guy from the fitnessgram pacer test.
AJ Schlemmer bruh😂
I was WONDERING why his voice sounded so familiar XD
THANK YOU, Sir.

This is great! Now can you parse each chapter into a lesson for us? It would be more manageable, and easier to find content.
Good idea!

Sure is!
The United States Army Field Band what type of mouthpiece would you all suggest for people with big lips?
have you tried just using a 5C or a 7C? (beginner mouthpiece)
The smaller the cup size number, the smaller the mouth piece. When you get better at playing higher notes, (above the staff) you move up to a smaller mouthpiece size.
The first chair trumpet in my band has HUGE lips so dont worry.
