    Thank you for putting these romantic clips with this great song.. I've never seen this movie after listening to the song makes you wonder is Albert Finney going to be cheating Audrey? If he is a great song for it. Wow when they gaze at each other they make beautiful couple. Thanks again for the great video clips and song

      The movie is not really connected to the lyrics of the song, so its worth it to see the movie as its a good one.

    Lesley is a golden treasure of my teenage years. In 1964 I was 15 years old and all of us loved Lesley Gore. Her vocals and lyrics spoke to our hearts in the love language of the era. She is precious, gorgeous, intelligent and I just cant say enough great things about this lovely lady.

    I was not much of a rock and roller when I was 13 years old, back in the mid 1960s. But one night at midnight, my local radio station played Lesley Gore's Greatest Hits album in its entirety. At that moment, my entire life changed. A few years later, I was a DJ on that very same radio station, playing all my favorite Lesley Gore songs. Thank you for everything, Lesley, and for 30 years in radio broadcasting. "Look of Love" is my favorite and it would have been a much bigger hit, if those four guys from Liverpool, England hadn't been dominating the charts in 1964.

    I was saddened to hear of the passing of Lesley Gore. Her music, back in the early and mid 60's never failed to put a smile on my face. From everything I've heard and read about her she was a very down to earth, caring individual, who never took herself too seriously; in spite of the fact that she was such an awesome, singer/songwriter and performer. This old world is a much poorer place without her in it. R.I.P. Lesley. I will miss you and your beautiful face & voice.

      Please check out YOU'VE COME BACK. Lesley recorded it after hearing the composer's demo, the great Van McCoy. She said she broke down and cried after hearing it for the first time. I did also when I flipped the SUNSHINE, LOLLIPOPS AND RAINBOWS 45 over wondering what gem Lesley backed her latest hit with.
      Lesley always delivered and never disappointed.
      RIP, Lesley. The heart and soul inspiration of the 60's.

    • @freeguy77
      @freeguy77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MadredeAgua9 "The heart and soul inspiration of the '60s" is way too much credit for the entire 10 years. You could make a better case for the three years she was one of the best and influential in the narrower 1963-65 years, because she had few hits after 1965, and not many adults cared about the teen pop scene, so it was for us teens then. For me, it was the early-'60s, pre-Beatles (U.S.) 1957-63 songs from the great girl groups (The Chiffons, The Crystals, The Shirelles, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, etc.), Neil Sedaka, Bobby Vee, Bobby Rydell, and the others cruelly thrown away or ignored after Jan. 1964.

    LOVE the background vocals of those girls. In '64 this was one of my favorite songs. Of course, EVERYTHING about 1964 was magic, and the quality of this pop song personifies the era of the golden mystical magical mid sixties. What a pleasure to have been there. Thanks Lesley!

    probably if it had not been for Beatlemania, this would have been a much bigger hit. kind of sad that Lesley Gore, along with so many Motown acts and girl groups, took a back seat to the Beatles in '64-'65.

    • @davedvlaries7764
      @davedvlaries7764 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, and it wasn't just the girls and it wasn't just Motown. I think Rick Nelson and especially Roy Orbison were unfair casualties of the Brit Invasion. After "Oh Pretty Woman," the singer Springsteen once called "Caruso in shades and a leather jacket" suddenly couldn't hit the side of a barn. Maybe changing music tastes will always leave some wreckage.

      @argieav 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Ransomhandsome That was my understanding too. Motown was huge in the 1960s, outgrew Detroit and relocated. Some Motown acts were favoured over others, and some prospered more than others - I think Martha Reeves felt that the Supremes were prioritised - but the Brit invasion didn't hurt Motown.

    This is the original version of Look of Love featured on Lesley's 1964 album, GIRL TALK. When Mercury decided it would be Lesley's next single, for release in December 64, Quincy decided to speed it up a bit and add jingle bells to it. Both versions sound great.

    Truthfully, because this is one of my all-time favorites by the wonderful Lesley Gore, I've always strongly preferred the simpler version--mainly because the beat is stronger & her vocal is cleaner. That said, I still own the 45, & I love it also. What a voice, & what a cutie, back in the day. And oh yes : the TAMI show was filmed/ released, in Late '64. Not '65. I know, I was there, & Lesley was nervous but wonderful. " Surfer Girl" was the finest vocal of that entire concert. Wolfsky9

    Good job, sounds great and it's always good to hear Hal's drumming. Leslie's voice brings me back to early 60s Brooklyn NY.

    Miranda, glad you love the oldies like I do, though I was born in 1953. Later in the 1980's, I was a fan of the Bangles. Expose, Belinda Carlisle and Martika. You probably are familiar with their music, too. The 50's and 60's music bring back so many cherished memories for me when I was a kid and teen and when times were much more simpler than today. Regarding this movie, it was NOT a love story but a couple with MANY marital problems! Great theme song from the late GREAT Henry Mancini!

    The word when Lesley Gore was recording in the studio it would take just one take for her track

      Though, on this and other tunes, she double tracks herself. She sings it again, and they mix the two vocals together.
