  • 15 years after a majority of Californians voted in favor of Proposition 8, banning same-sex marriage across the state, KQED sat down with the two couples who sued to overturn this law. Paul Katami and Jeff Zarrillo were two of the defendants who fought for the right to marry each other and ended up making LGBTQ+ history. The fight against Prop. 8 was a landmark case that ultimately helped lead to marriage equality nationwide. This is the first part in the two-part KQED News series on this history.

    Wonderful interview! I just saw The Case Against 8 in HBO and wondered about them all these years later.

    Guys all they want is to get married. They defiantly won’t come for your kids right after that. 😂
