The first photo was well balanced, I like how the sea has enough movement in it. On the close up of the rocks, the sea looked like mist around huge castle 😯 very atmospheric
What a challenging location, it takes skilled vision and composition techniques to get some good photographs there I'm sure, and you did it! I especially love that last one, looks like a beautiful painting, and that is meant as a compliment :) We just got home from visiting a museum of fine arts and honestly I believe your work is excellent. Thanks for the detailed explanations of your thought process and techniques, very interesting to hear.
Thank you so much as usual. I think it is a stunning place to photograph. One of the country's best photographers, Colin Prior, was doing a workshop there so he must know its potential. I think I struggled because I was tired and the light was flat. I would like to go back again as I'm sure I can do better. The last photo was my favourite too. It didn't look real so I can see the resemblance to a painting. Maybe I could do an exhibition at that museum one day. Did you go to see your photos? 🤔
It's always a good feeling if you like the potential of a place that it makes you want to go back. I hope you do get a chance to go back again. It can be so disappointing when you go to a great place and the lighting doesn't play the game! Well, sadly, I think we are outnumbered and will likely never be in museums. 😆 I think that last image here particularly has an epic composition and a story to tell, nice combination to have!
Was there in 2014, the name Ardnamurchan is "badass" and there was a parking lot right in front of the tower, it is/was insane. Like visiting a drive through museum.
@@JohnGreenwoodPhotography Well I didn't, why the hell they made a parking lot right in front of the tower, 5 mtr closer and the cars were in the tower. Allmost glad all my pictures where out of focus, only thing missing was a McDonalds. It was a total waste of time
John, really enjoyed the vlog. As a fellow photography vlogger I found your explanations excellent. The Pano really worked I feel - the textures linked / aligned as there is a natural flow area between the rocks and the shot was as good as you could have got given the light you had. Ardnamurchan Lighthouse is a long way West and I have never been, though I shoot and vlog Scotland regularly. Can you get a shot with the breaking waves in your foreground and the lighthouse behind it? Is there really only one composition when shooting this light house? Would love to get feedback on that. Once again, I loved the vlog and have subscribed. Regards, Fergus.
Hello Fergus, thank you very much for your kind words. I was very tired and it was cold and windy so I didn't really give the place the time it deserved. I just stayed close to the carpark. However I really think there are some good opportunities there in good light or stormy conditions. As I didn't walk around much I can't recommend any viewpoints, however after a quick Google it is possible to get your viewpoint from the south. At the end of the video I pointed to a beach I wanted to go to. I. The end I didn't bother but I imagine it's about 1/2 a mile walk. It's not my photo but I found this www.westhighlandpeninsulas.com/site/assets/files/2209/lighthouse_1.640x800.webp. This also gives you a better background with the mountains. I want to go back soon and spend more time in these locations exploring every vantage point. It may be far from you but I can't recommend it more. The whole peninsula was one of the most beautiful places I have visited so you wouldn't go just for this. If you check out my video on portuairk, that was where I went afterwards instead of going to the beach I pointed out. I don't know if I made the right decision but at least you get to see how stunning the whole area is.
@@JohnGreenwoodPhotography John, thanks for getting back to me. That is a smashing photo you procured and certainly answers my question in that there is another location from which you can shoot the lighthouse and with the big vista it gives a second option to your own composition in the vlog. I live on the Southern Coast of the Republic of Ireland. I spent some time in Scotland last Summer and hope to be back there in 2023. I would say that they are the Cuillin Mountains on Skye in the Background. THanks for getting back to me. Best of luck with the photos if and when you get back to this peninsula. Regards, Fergus
@@ferguscooper you are most welcome. Though now I've found that photo I feel bad I didn't make the effort to walk there. Oh, wow, I have always wanted to go to the southern and western coast of Ireland. I have seen photos from the ring of kerry and it looks amazing. I would really love to see blogs from your home.
Hi John, I prefer very natural exposition from a wonderful place you was...the pictures look freeze.Sorry I don't know if really I have good explanation...what I feel about the pictures...because for me the picture need to say more...and sometimes I wait hours....the time...the observation ...I take many pictures ...time change...picture change...and show how magnific are the Nature. Thank you very much Marlize. It really was a wonderful place. I would have loved to explore more and get different photos. I want to go back later in the year and maybe get different views of the same lighthouse. All the best.
Thank you Thomas. I don't usually take enough photos during a shoot so have to stretch the videos out somehow. But I'll consider this in future, thank you.
Amazing work my friend, Nice vídeo 👏👏👏
Thank you so much. I am itching to go back as there is so much more beauty there to capture.
