agreed. Ranked mode in an alpha make no sense. Not only were the ranks completely random, the game is still bug riddled. Disconnects and drops every game, straight up complete game crashes, half the cast is bugged (literally any other movement skill interacting with Abramhs is bugged, etc.) Game is an alpha, people need to treat it like it is.

I'm done with games releasing early with huge reception and praise only for it to die because the full game isn't finished and people are already bored and have moved on with their lives. Is Deadlock dead? If it is its because they should've CLOSED the beta a while ago and finished the game, then released it. How lame to have a promising product grow stale before reaching its intended potential. This is what happened with Helldivers 2, amazing game. Got hella boring after a while and no amount of guns and patch updates is going to bring back their old numbers. They shouldve closed the game down, then released it with allllll the content, a better main menu, a campaign element, ranking system, and hella stuff to do. When these devs allow us to "play" their games in a beta unfinished state, its a lie, we are working for them for FREE but at the cost of our long term interest in the game.

yh but that wasnt in their control. It ot out because people started inviting more and more players into the game.
(Also i aint disagreeing with you but its not like they could just crunch and work on the game faster to release new content. Hell i doubt even crunch could result in more content since the game is in its alpha state.)

@@b4ttl3f0xbh5 I understand that too. Lets just hope there is a good amount of Valve fans and MOBA fans not participating in this games beta willing to start playing when its released. Hopefully they run a clever ad campaign and it hits the open market in a big way because if its THIS popular in a closed but not really closed beta, itll be huge once its fully polished and complete with all the bells and whistles. Im tired of playing unfinished products only for them to die off when they finally "release".

@colepeltier8472 tbh I think the best move is to just roll with what they have now. Cuz a game being in a state like this is rare and it's giving them a lot of feedback to work with.

The truth is, people suck at deadlock.
To be good at a MOBA requires patience, especially when you're behind on kills, souls, etc.
Being able to play the game out until 30-40 mins and really have a full game, rather than getting ROFLstomped in 20mins because ur entire team is 0-12 cause nobody is making plays, sums up probably about 70% of the people who tried deadlock, the people who left and aren't playing it anymore, are people who are bad at MOBAs, people who are half decent, completely understand deadlock is an amazing game, the devs dont care about player count, they can always add incentives for people to return to the game, which they really don't do- they just patch the game, while taking feedback and adding a bit at a time to perfect their game, they are doing such a good job at making this game, even if it took another entire year to come out fully, people will come back to play it, simply because it's a master piece, even while it's still cookin, and the devs are amazing.

    • @xavmarz755

Exactly, since the game is a moba shooter, there are lots of people coming from shooters like overwatch and valorant with no moba experience who play like its a hero shooter, ignoring cs jungle or map pressure and just fighting the whole game. This is simply not what the game is. I often go 1-4 in lane with a 1-2k soul lead because I'm focusing on farming and denying and my aim is garbage. The stubborn players who mindlessly press w towards the nearest enemies and think they're losing games because they're not winning enough fights are obviously gonna lose interest.
I have a friend who I duo with who's in a similar situation. He's a top 1% cs player while I'm just plat 1 in league but in 25 games he has literally never finished with more souls than me. The thing is he's trying to learn and he's open to doing things differently than he's used to and it shows. I'm actually baffled by how fast he's been getting better from the tips I tell him.

I disagree with the change made to merge ranked and casual queues. Due to this my and my usual duo have never had a balanced match with getting the worst teammates against a high MMR enemy team. I'm not sure if this was due to the party preference system or merging the queues but since then, every single match is a chore to play. The hero balancing has been fine and I haven't had a major issue with one (aside from bebop). He actually swore off the game after an 8 match losing streak because the team comp balancing has been extremely bad.

    Why this game will die.
1 people never asked for ranked, they wanted to see their rank in the original match making
2 ranked prioritized solo que in a game where you get invited by a friend? Yeah lets go dota2 way and make it a solo que game... (game is ded now)
3 over nerfing heros (bebop etc) making his bomb build completly useless cuz beginners couldnt handle it when it was his worst build ever.
Yeah if you force people to just play the standard style and u cant do flex builds outside of meta then the game will die cuz its so boring right now

deadlock is good at its core, but i've barely played it since last patch two weeks ago tbh. it can get old pretty fast and i feel like they really nuked the matchmaking last patch, which has been my biggest issue with the game lately. at the end of the day, the game is still unfinished, so i'm not faulting it for anything, but it has definitely lost a lot of its appeal after the novelty wore off. the patches are kind of exhausting to keep up with and there are a lot of frustrating things about the game, both in terms of balance and the actual game itself (bad matchmaking, bad optimization, semi-frequent bugs, constant leavers, etc.).
i want this game to succeed whenever it does happen to eventually release (which will hopefully actually happen someday), but i can't justify spending the time and effort it takes to keep up with this game and improve at it when there are better, more consistent options out there. for the time being, i still log on for a couple games here and there, but i've taken a big step back from it lately and i don't blame others for doing the same. i don't plan on fully quitting yet, but depending on how the next few patches go i wouldn't be surprised if i were to stop playing deadlock altogether until its full release.

  • @legendfox2000

my issue is the matchmaking. after they merged rank and norms, the ques are longer and i'm with people that are borderline new to the concept of mobas. i think the separate rank mode should still be there so that both the casual and competitive players don't have to argue about whether or not they should be playing if one or the other player "cares" enough in a competitive environment

One problem that I also see as consumer in video games is that
To be fair we are actually extremely used to wait for things, games in general are now so big and complex that they started this culture to create the hype around a certain game and the public having to wait years for it, and besides that, we are also used to have the hype and wait for years to a game to flop at the end, like overwatch 2, no man's sky and cyberpunk
Só I think it creates this sense of urgency in us, where if we don't see it thriving, seems like it might fall short at any time, because the market is really unstable nowadays with a new game every week

  • @carvode7428
    @carvode7428 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

The main problem is that there is very little “full release” magic. The game is always at its greatest at initial start be it a full polished game or a public beta test. If the numbers die out so quickly it just doesnt seem like deadlock is going to get any big even if they make next week’s patch “the full release”.
Reason for that is actually pretty simple, when I invited my arena shooter/fps friends to try the game they disliked farming, last hitting, macro and ability heavy gameplay. And when I invited my moba friends they just couldnt find any character that would allow them to be impactful without good mechanical shooter skills. It just leaves deadlock with a very niche playerbase

    • @MrNotSpecified01
      @MrNotSpecified01 หลายเดือนก่อน

Deadlock has a very high skill ceiling and steep learning curve. This means you have to invest lots of time and energy in the game, and even if you do, you might not get much better, especially because there's a lot of macro concepts that people who are new to MOBAs (like me) have not figured out yet that experienced players take for granted.
It doesn't make the game feel unfair, but it does make it feel frustrating when you get stomped and you don't understand what you could have done differently or what you can improve.
Also, I think the game is running into the classic issue of people reaching their MMR and games becoming more stressful than fun because of how hard you have to try to perform well.

My problem is that Deadlock is being treated like a beta. It seems that they have already settled on a game design formula and are scared to anger the existing playerbase.
Every two weeks, it feels like they just adjust urn and soul numbers. There are no big map changes. No new heroes are being added to the main gameplay mode. No true ability reworks. Barely items being added.
But they had time to add ranked to a closed invite only alpha.
An alpha is SUPPOSED to be unpolished and haphazard. Why are they scared to change things up? By adding ranked, they tied themselves to an unspoken obligation of keeping things polished. Good riddance to ranked.
Their priorities are not in the right place. They need to stop trying to appease the playerbase's want for a balanced game at this stage. These players are looking at Deadlock as if it's a released game. Too bad. It's an ALPHA.
Valve needs to be throwing shit at the wall instead of trying to get it perfect. It's an alpha, not a beta! The refining is supposed to come later. There's still a need for balance, but not at the point where it's actively hindering change.

Deadlock will always have a big playerbase.
People gotta understand its under heavy development still & its still invite only.
If this game was free to play in its current state (assuming hackers didnt run wild) it would average double its current average easily. Hypes died, but the game is healthy & Valve is valve. They are unlikely to fumble it.
