I don't like the twist ending. While I knew that this was being sponsored by Ubisoft, it feels like a slap in the face to the people who shared their stories and took their time to take them all the way out there. Accusing them of lying and getting upset because it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. That's what real treasure hunting is. It's gruelling and it's dangerous. The Philippines has a complex history and has been been taken advantage of by many different nations. I'd much rather have seen the people's stories highlighted and shown how resilient they are than to have had it cheapened by "too sad bro, go buy this video game instead."
I don't recall any point where she accused them of lying....we can all agree that tossing away the fist part of the video for an ubisoft ad was bad, but let's not put words in her mouth.
@@soshiangel90 she did say she didn't know what to believe and was implying with other words/actions that she wasn't really believing their truth. she was trying kinda hard to debunk everything they have said..
I wish you did two separate videos, one about the Ubisoft game, even when sponsored, it looked fun enough to see a video about! And one about Rhonie's story, he opened up about the heavy family history and his life's work to hunt for the treasure. It felt disrespectful to have combined these two topics in one. Hope you read the comments, because obviously, we LOVE your videos and this is the beautiful and unique side of YT, where you can interact almost immediately with your audience and they can give you direct feedback. This video didn't feel like you and I hope you start "hearting" supportive feedback comments too, instead of the "positive-only" comments. We all love your work!!
Me too. I hope Michelle will take feedback positively and try to better in the future. Certainty, it was lots of hours and effort , but making someone open up about their past so bluntly to a stranger for them to then disregard their whole goal must be upsetting
As a Filipino, I really had fun watching your videos, especially this one! However, I'm just sad and disappointed that this became like a one big advertisement for the game, than the real "treasure hunt" with real treasure hunters who are dedicated with their work. They shared their family history (which is a very sensitive topic even today in the country), their work enthusiastically, and their passion, together with their time and effort, just for it to be, in the end, never your goal to begin with. Hence, maybe it would be best to separate these topics of the Philippine treasure hunt and the Thailand pirate hunting game. I would really be interested to watching your journey in Thailand as well. Nevertheless, please note that this isn't a hate comment, but an encouragement that hopefully next time you would take time to consider these kind of things. Although the journey wasn't what you expected, I think it would be best to reflect with these disappointments as well 😊
I don’t know. Something about this video didn’t sit right with me. It seems like the whole thing-including the treasure-hunting bit-was very manufactured. There’s no way Michelle wouldn’t have known how much time it would take to go up the mountain, into the cave, and back down. Michelle should have known if it was doable or not before setting out. Also, and maybe because this was staged, Michelle was really rude to Henry and pretty much wasted his time and resources going up that mountain. And I hope the translator is ok. Edit: It also feels like Michelle exploited Filipino culture for the purposes of this ad. It just gave the appearance of a rich Westerner using a poor country for financial gain. I’m sure that wasn’t their intention, but considering Michelle’s arrogance throughout this episode, it seemed very much the case. Moreover, after giving this a lot of thought, I can’t help but think this was staged from the beginning. She would have known all the risks beforehand. And saying that you don’t believe the landowner??? You do realize treasure-hunting stories are passed down through word of mouth and hearsay, right? This video was a miss on all fronts.
I never comment but I love you so much, Michelle. This video just wasn't your best work. The usual level of humility and empathy you show in your videos didn't make itself apparent here. Also the end, where you transitioned into the sponsorship, felt very janky and cold. We didn't get to see what happened at the end of the initial treasure hunt, and the conclusion felt rushed. This entire thing felt very rushed if I'm honest. This man poured his heart out to you and it felt as though none of those connections mattered in the grand "I gotta beat these gamers!" scheme of it. I know you didn't intend for it to come off this way though. I hope you can better plan these kinds of videos out in the future and that you do things that don't put you under so much pressure. Maybe you should go treasure hunting here in the US next time!
This video was a really big oof..did not like michelle attitude and downplay of their stories, also the fact that she only spends a few days on this, unlike her other videos where she spends weeks even months to do them to ensure that she is doing the right things:/ feels more like just a big advertisement for the thailand thing rather than caring for the actual excavation and filipino culture
there couldve been a set amount of things she had planned to do out there. the reason it only was a few days couldve been because no one wanted to share stories of what they may of found. downplaying the whole video because ubisoft sponsor is just unfair to Michelle.
I think I would've preferred if this video was like... Michelle saying "Hey, this didn't turn out well, but we fail sometimes too so we wanted to show you what a less than stellar video looks like. Here's what it looks like when an experience doesn't go according to plan!"
Agreed, this is the first video that I thought was more annoying then interesting. "Im sure the game Skull and Bones is more fun than any of this" what? You couldnt even wait for the tunnel to open up to actually explore and perhaps find nails beyond the literal opening of the cave? Seems like this was a very forced video just for the sponsorship.
Yes. Exactly. Like I would have been fine with that and Im sure it still would have gotten great views regardless of if it went well or not and then she could have turned the Ubisoft thing into its own separate long video because that would have been cool to see more fleshed out as well.
yeahhhh for sure. I also would have preferred 2 separate videos. If you want to do an interesting video that's an ad for ubisoft, that's okay! Let me see the competition against the gamers as its own video. You don't have to be bashful. But something I always say to myself as a gaming content creator (tiny lol) is that I can record and if I don't like it I NEVER have to upload it. Literally never. I know it probably feels like a bigger deal when you are traveling countries and have to scrap a video, especially with employees whose livelihoods depend on you. I get that. It just.... still left a sour taste in my mouth and I feel like anybody who watches would have been okay with a vlog style video being dropped on us out of nowhere saying hey this happened, and that's okay because life's not perfect.
Am I the only one (or one of the only ones) who wishes there was more to the actual treasure hunting? I get that IF they found something they couldn't post it due to the fear of being targeted n stuff, but I was SO invested in it, I was a lil disappointed with the twist. I was hoping we'd see an attempt at going inside the cave the next day, or them getting home safe. Even if nothing was found, just looking at the cave and how it was made. I always love Michelle's videos because she puts her 100% in everything and always does things so in-depth, this doesn't have the same vibe. I guess since this was planned right before the event they wouldn't have had the time to go back, though I would LOVE to see a full video of treasure hunting similar to this.
I stopped watching it. Didn't like how it felt... There was a show on the History Channel called Lost Gold of WW2 that followed treasure hunters in the Philippines. Highly recommend it if you found this interesting. I'm still hoping they'll bring it back for a third season.
Yeah I was also disappointed by the twist. Why not make this skull and bones thing a separate video? I would probably have watched it, but it just felt like Michelle and team were using Henry and his story to set up this fake treasure hunt. Which really sucks for Henry because he's put his whole life into this and I'm sure he thought it was going to be a video dedicated to his family's story
@@gearsandsteam1 If they told her they couldn't include more footage about it because they potentially found something then I'd get that. But I feel like she would have been told about the rules/laws before it was planned, to which if a genuine attempt at treasure hunting was made, she could have gone somewhere within the US, or somewhere where if people do find things, the government wont take it away.
I absolutely love michelles content but this one was very misleading and disappointing in the end. What was the point of dragging all those people out to the jungle when you never intended to actually try and find anything? And in the ending when you were looking for the emeralds it happened within like 3 minutes so it made it very hard to be invested in at all. I feel like there was no point to this video aside from the sponsor. I would have much rather seen a fun more in depth treasure hunting video for the emeralds and that whole scenario.
I think the ubisoft event was interesting, but I preferred a separate video about it, instead of taking time from the real treasure hunt. I wanted to see the cave :(
Kinda disappointed the actual treasure hunting part was just thrown away for the Ubisoft event thing. I was really invested into Henry Roxas story and the hidden treasure, it really felt like those people were just used for an ad. The poor guy spoke about his father's murder and his family history to someone who never really cared about any of that. It was a big waste of time for not only Henry but those other treasure hunters. I feel like those treasure hunters are never going to want to open up like that and share their stories again to another youtuber, I hope Michelle returns one day to give them an actual video. congrats on your win though
The add completely ruined the video. I have a feeling this was kinda a money is too good to turn down type of video. The pirate ship video wasn't that long ago and the game came out before this video was released. So something doesn't add up considering Michelle's usual once a month upload. Just seems rushed overall.
I am a huge fan of your videos, and this one had me hooked as always. However, I wanted to share my honest thoughts about the ending. While I was fully invested in the suspenseful nighttime adventure after the hunting and genuinely concerned about you and your group's safety, the abrupt shift to a more lighthearted atmosphere caught me off guard, as it went from danger and darnkess to sunshine, jokes and laughter. To be honest, the Ubisoft treasure hunting segment being wrapped up in the last 2-3 minutes felt a bit rushed to me. I hadn't been able to process the fact that everyone had safely made it out of the woods, and the lack of a proper goodbye to the people you met left the ending feeling somewhat incomplete. In my opinion, breaking down the Ubisoft treasure hunting into a separate video would have offered a more immersive and joyful experience. Alternatively, if they had to be in the same video, giving it a bit more time might have struck a better balance, allowing the serious and dangerous vibe to linger until a more satisfying resolution for the initial treasure hunting escapade. That's just my take on it, but great video regardless!
I agree, and that's a very good way to say it from a creator-viewer dynamic standpoint. Editing was a bit off. Things happen. I can't imagine the pressure of having to scrap a video when you have employees working for you whose livelihood depend on you... but yeah I would have done things differently. There's always next time, right?
The treasure hunters got people interested enough to view what they have accomplished and the dangers they have to deal with. Exposure of documented experiences means the facts get preserved. That's treasure!
Ikr it really pissed me off when she said that its was extremely disrespectful to everyone involved, it’s not their fault you wanted to try to dig for gold with a time limit of 2 DAYS so you could go to your Ubisoft even smh
I am glad that I am not alone in being disappointed that the historical treasure hunting aspect was almost a bait and switch for the ad. Considering so many of the comments focus on that, I hope team challenge accepted will course correct and properly honor the actual tunnel exploration
So you got all those people to work and drive you up there and you didn’t even go in? Afraid to get wet? Travelled 7 hours to get a half hour of daylight with no water? Who planned the trip? This was by far your worse video ever!
in her defense it was getting dark in 10 minutes and she said its very dangerous to be in jungle at night time with no service. im kinda mad she got the hunters to tell stories and about family just to say i cant wait to get back because its going to be more fun. i feel like she should have made it there own video not just dedicated to the other video she was gonna make. i think she could have handled it way more mature but there car was not running and imagine if it was even more dark then what it already was. i think she should have put about 1-2 weeks into a video like this not 48 hours so that she can get to the "main" goal of the video!!!
Please don’t be rude, I agree w/ you, but please don’t say it like that I’ll give u a better way to say it, because this comment may cause a lot of arguing: "I do not like the fact you got all those ppl to work and drive you up there and you didn’t even go in. I was disappointed you were afraid to get wet. You travelled 7 hours and got the people to work so hard and it was just for an ad? I really am disappointed and in my opinion, this is one of your worse videos."
dismissing the treasure hunting to say it was never your goal to begin with was not expected. that man poured his heart into treasure hunting, spent time and effort to tell you about his family history and take you to a tunnel...and it just ends at "just kidding?" yikes
Yes, I agree. I love Michelle but I was shocked upon hearing that this was all just for an advertisement. It feels insensitive for her to tag along with the man who has a deep rooted passion and reason for hunting for the treasure only to promote the Ubisoft event.
Kinda sounds like the treasure hunting part was actually Ubisoft's marketing and not a real deal (not saying she didn't do any of that for real, I mean the treasure and the stories)
I was honestly SO invested in the actual treasure hunting, I love stories like that so the idea of them actually finding anything valuable/going inside the cave was what made me click the video, I didn't care for the ubisoft thing. I was hoping that they got home safe but went back the next day to try again. To see that its likely they never went back to try again, and/or used the idea to promote the event is disappointing. I really wanted to see a genuine treasure hunting video.
exactly! She went out there and listened to all the history, met all these people, had them bring her hours out into a forest and dug into the earth for hours, just for her to use a piece or two of equipment for a few seconds and say they need to give up. It put such a sour taste in my mouth.. I feel really bad for all the guys involved, especially the man who inherited the property.. Knowing nothing of treasure hunting and dismissing everyone like that was very harsh and ignorant. I've loved all her other videos but this one? Oof.
I don’t like the parts of where she says they aren’t allowed to know where they are going or be told to the mountains but yet the whole way there there’s clips of them literally showing where they are going and all the people involved and the cars w the license plates and even the guys museum and his founding from his dad like I don’t think that’s smth to be filmed and exposed to evb and now he’s maybe even in danger of the fact that evb who watches knows how much he holds and how valuable it is. This was honestly such a heart aching thing to watch because as a Filipino I feel for my people and I feel for there lives than I do your entertainment purposes and endangering them.
I don't know ... I would think that the team would discuss with the treasure hunters if it's right to put these thing in a video, but if they didn't ... oof. You seriously think the people can get endangered by these clips?
I couldn't care less for the game, I was super invested in the cave she visited all for it to be a huge ad? I get it says ad in the description, but I thought it was like other videos where she did the thing as in-depth as she could, then she explains she did this for another thing, such as an event. Like for the chess boxing match she made an entire video for that on her training & the actual show. this just feels disrespectful to the people who helped her get to this cave for her to not actually go inside/look around.
True, I haven’t played the game yet (and I don’t plan to, I don’t have that kind of money for a pricey subscription) but it kind of feels like sea of thieves with the advertising. I’m not saying every pirate game is a rip off of sea of thieves, but my point still stands. Sorry for the tangent, I’m just iffy about the game.
True! So many things she experienced, tried, did. It's amazing. It's also amazing to see the journey from the beginnings to know. The videos always were amazing but they really get better and better still!
This was really sad, actually. My heart hurts for Mr. Henry... and he called her ma'am so politely! And Alma was so sweet and reassuring even in the circumstances... Was there really no way to plan a campsite, with 24 men available for manpower, to do the thing properly and stay for maybe 3 days? I mean I guess schedules and flights and such but if you have it planned couldn't you just work backwards from due dates with Ubisoft? That would be a great video on its own, it doesn't need to hijack. Ugh, what a bummer and a man who has already got the short end of the stick for his whole life just got it again after opening his arms. Idk my heart hurts. Maybe it's the way it was edited; maybe it was a last minute plan and they had to fit it into their schedule after already planning the event, I know Michelle has her heart in the right place with things. just... ugh though. I can't wait for other episodes to come, as always, but dang. As a viewer I almost feel like I was shortchanged 2 videos: the real couple of days of a treasure hunting experience (even though if you found something you couldn't show it for his safety, there are other ways to climax a video like a fake fall or something through a trap door) and also the Ubisoft one which seemed amazing on its own.
I usually really like her videos, however this one just felt like a mockery for a couple reasons. (1) I felt like she was sort of disrespectful and uninterested in Philippines which was highlighted when she sais she couldn't wait to be in Thailand. Overall as well, she did not feel too interested. (2) It was clear she couldn't complete the video and could've easily said this was an unsuccessful mission, and we would have understood considering it's an impossible task and undertaking it alone is admirable. When she tried to swerve the whole thing into another video it just felt as if its a mockery of the viewers. Like, yeah , these people will eat up ANYTHING
I’m not going to lie this video made me see her in a different light… it was bad completely dismissed the treasure hunters, acted like an entitled youtuber, tried to act like she was in charge, over exaggerated everything…like comon a two hour walk! “We have to start thinking of rationing water” gtfo she needs to give that sponsorship money back and take down this video because it’s not serving her reputation
ikr!! I was so disgusted by how she spoke and the facial expressions she made.... like girl ur the lucky one to even meet Henry. It sounded so privileged, and felt like a mrbeast video 🤢 idk if i wanna continue watching her if this is her true colours
I say this every video: thank you for giving us dads an incredible role model for our daughters. You’re the living definition of “you can do anything you want, and make the world a better place doing it.”
@@zenzero64 it wasn’t my favorite video of hers by any stretch. But from all the times I’ve failed, it’s always the little injection of encouragement that gives me the strength to receive the constructive criticism. Just figured I’d be that here and let everyone else do the later.
You have done some insane things. However, my personal favorite video was where you work in garbage collection. Something everyone sees but takes for granted. You need to do more of this. Water treatment, custodial work, teacher, retail work. That sort of down to earth thing.
@@chelsmeister There are tons of jobs, careers even, that she could highlight. I just gave a few off the cuff jobs that many look down on. I would honestly love to see her work construction for a week, even as a manual laborer. Bus Driver? All sorts of jobs to highlight their contributions to society as well as the issues they face.
Normally I really like Michelle's videos, but this one feels very weird. There were like 2 separate videos here. One with the real treasure hunting which was awesome and I was super invested, only for that to get cut off abruptly and then there was a super summarized version of treasure hunting game with youtubers, which could have been super great to watch too if we had gotten a full video of it. Like half way through the end part with the youtuber treasure game, I thought ok anytime now she'll cut off the preview of that video and then she'll release the full video later so I can watch everything that happened, but she kept going and I realized that there was never going to be a video. Love your content Michelle, but I really wish this was 2 separate full length videos.
This felt so disrespectful 😕 Henry opened up about his family history including the death of his father, was super kind and accommodating, and as I’m watching this video I can see as Michelle starts to grind on the groups nerves. The tone of everyone’s voice changes as she asks annoying questions while everyone is trying to make the trip work, she complains about not being at the Ubisoft event infront of them despite this being her idea…. I liked her FBI academy video and the comments say normally videos are different, but damn….
@@aroojfatima2245wow thanks for spoiling the video. i was honestly expected the best in this video, but now she's like NAS Daily, expoitling the Philippines for the videos
Ive been a subscriber for a looooong time and watching Michelle finally go to my country made me sooooo excited. But 20:34 tho :( People spend years researching about it, blood and sweat, and her team thought they can magically find something in a couple of days. This couldve been presented in a respectful manner.
Genuine thoughts: while I was initially very thrown off by the suddenly change and conclusion, knowing Michelle's quality of content and storytelling, this it not usual. I was hoping for a better conclusion to the treasure hunting part of this video, and a separate proper video of the Ubisoft treasure hunt video so that each portion got it's limelight. Personally I enjoyed the starting part where they went to the history museum and were taught how to look out for Japanese caves. That was really interesting! Later on, idk if it was just me but.. it felt like Henry was a bit sus? Am I the only one who feels this way? At the start I felt he was very earnest with his story about his father and dedication to treasure hunting.. but from the sword being so pristine on the inside and almost toy-like, to the railroads built by the Japanese occupation - based on what we've studied in history classes (I'm Singaporean, so yes we were occupied by Japan during WWII and we do study this portion in our history classes) - spanned FOREVER. It was odd to me that they found one.. just ONE! piece of railroad metal that seemed cheap and somewhat not-very-WWII-esq in the middle of that forest? That they could casually pick up and throw aside like that? Was it planted there by Henry because they knew cameras were coming? And when Michelle kept pointing out there was a pipe inside, he kept gaslighting her and saying nonono it was a railroad. But it was obviously much wider, rounder and longer? So this set off the alarm bells in my head. Things just didn't add up to me and something seemed really off. I'm sure there's a really good reason based on Michelle's track record and dedication to her own craft on why that part of the video was concluded so haphazardly. Maybe we'll never know what happened behind the scenes. At the end of the day, I hope the translator lady's fall wasn't too bad and that everyone somehow got back safely and quicker than what was mentioned on video since the bikes came about at the end.
kinda feels like she just disrespected the treasure hunter mans’ history and all the others’ effort to helping her go treasure hunting and she just threw it away for a game ad. coulda been a really good video.
"We're not alouf to know where we're going or see where we're going..." She said recording out the window and then going on to describe the hills and villages they went through...also knows they're lost but apparently doesn't know the destination to know they're lost...
If you really want gold, there so much of it in the foothills of North Carolina. There are nuggets so big they been used as doorsteps before people realized it was gold ore.
I'm just gonna add on and say I wish there was more of the Philiphines and while I didn't expect to see the real treasure being found I think more of the tunnels and things of the nature would've been far more interesting.
This is the first Challenge Accepted video I've watched where I've been really disappointed. Felt like a complete half-ass, which is never a word I'd associate with Michelle and her team before.
Im Filipino, I love the Philippine representation and history! I just wish there were more though. I feel bad they couldn't enjoy the short time they had here, I get that they have REALLY tight schedules, but I sincerely hope they get to do this again but without worrying about getting on a pirate ship on time.
To be honest, I usually love your videos. But using Henry like that especially since his father died because of it is really wrong. Like girl, when you said 'just kidding!" I was so upset. I wish this whole video wasn't just an ad, since the real treasure hunters pour their lives into it.
That gold Buddha's head also came off and inside it was filled with cut and uncut diamonds. The government had also supposedly given Roxas back the Buddha for publicity purposes, but it was a bronze replica, not the one he found. It's amazing that Michelle found Roxas's son to go on this expedition, unreal. She makes very smart and entertaining content.
@@juandenz2008 if there were diamonds inside it isnt solid gold i guess 😂😂😂 but seriously if there were diamonds then its possible it was gold plated/mixed metals including gold
I know many people have already said this but, I feel kinda bad for the people that really tried to explain the story for you and you just kinda threw it away by showing the hunting game in to make it more “interesting”
Really disappointed with this. Using the story and trauma of that man's father and several of his colleagues imprisonment, torture, and murder just to dismiss his life long hunt for this treasure (inspired by his dad might I add) with the "real treasure" bit. And he was nothing but respectful yet you questioned him in such an interrogative way. Even saying they got you lost yet you don't even know where you are going in the first place? Apparently as you said you weren't allowed to film the route because it could've put those people in a life or death situation but you did so anyway? Its very confusing and not entertaining like some of your other videos I've seen. It all felt very icky and overly dramatic instead of real and kind.
glad to see by the comments that I'm not the only one disappointed with this vid. No hate intended whatsoever, but this was the first time one of your vids didn't hit. Maybe try be more focused with the content instead of trying to squeeze 2 videos and a brand deal in one
I never comment like this, but those poor locals were probably so annoyed. Continuously questioning them the way she did and constantly referencing the little information she had (nails and pick axe marks) was ridiculous. Let the people who know what they're doing lead at their pace. No one would want a vocal skeptic along on their journey. If you were going to be negative, you shouldn't have gone. Of course it was going to be dangerous, what made you think it wouldn't be?
The last five minutes of this show felt like a completely separate video compared to the actually really interesting stories and history that come from the actual treasure hunters.
I am gonna be honest here Michelle I really wanted you to find the treasure or at least go inside the cave just to see the insides yet i am happy that you didn't risk anybody's life there and you did a great job but i really wish you visit the cave again and this time with with support love you and love your videos
i didnt like her vibe this episode. she seemed rude and dismissive about the adventure hike those people took her on. wanting to go home and continuously doubting what they believed. even at one point saying she didnt believe the metal detector?! like what the metal detector was lying? idk. got a bad feeling from her this episode
"Remember that time we phoned in a video about treasure hunting and disrespected the time and stories local people gave us, so we could advertise a crap game that no one remembers?"
@@WS12658yeah I’ve just finished the video and have no idea what that game was called but I remember everything about the history of what the local people talked about. The ending to this video felt really messy. The start and everything about the treasure hunting and the history was such a treat to watch but I didn’t like how they rushed the ending. I’ve watched all of Michelle’s videos and have never seen this done but I was really taken back and not in a good way. We can’t all make great videos all of the time but I hope she reads the comments, criticism and feedback and improves!
My favorite TH-camr was in the Philippines??!! But also, I wonder if Michelle understands how dangerous this could have been. Both the government and insurgents are to be feared in remote areas. Glad the team came out safely and didn't linger too long!
I'm still hoping we see more seasons of Lost Gold of WW2 someday. It's a really fascinating bit of history, Yamashita and the Golden Lily. Cool to see a member of the Roxas family here - what the Marcos regime did to them was dirty.
(BLOW THIS UP SO MICHELLE COULD SEE IT)I’m Filipina, and let me tell you.. I was so invested in the cave exploring, and I love you Michelle, but I wish you didn’t just make the cave exploring an big advertisement. The people you met told their stories to you, so I hope you go back there to explore the caves again more deeply. I see a lot of people saying the same thing, so I hope you see mine or their comments so you can go back there. I love all your videos, but I want you to go back there even if you don’t find any gold! Usually you spend so long on your videos, but this time you only spent a few days. This is definitely not the normal Michelle I know. I was really excited about watching this since I was so excited about this video but I guess I’m not anymore after watching this ad. PLEASE COME OUT THERE AGAIN AND MEET THE SAME PEOPLE. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH🙏 SHOULD MICHELLE GO BACK THERE?? 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 👇🏼
You can tell Michelle is disappointed about how it all turned out. She wouldn’t plan a 20hr plus jungle trip with no outcome for “views” - that’s just how it turned out and that’s also the reality of treasure hunting. I honestly wonder if she was scammed.
I HIGHLY suspect she was scammed. There were A LOT of reg flags that popped up in my head, and scammers are common in a lot of SEA countries. Unfortunately I'm sure there's a lot she can't share nor would she want to put someone down, but people shouldn't be slamming her so much without thinking about the possibility of her being scammed. Knowing her usual quality in videos and her dedication to her craft, there must be a reason for such an abrupt ending.
This was by far the worst episode I've seen on your channel... you gave up so easily....you literally got 1 step into the cave and showed nothing. You brought a melt detector that went off instantly, followed by picking up like three rocks and gave up saying it was so deep it'd take hours. No explanation to what the pipes were that this dude who discovered the cave says don't exist even tho they're right there in there entrance....topped off with a nearly 5 minute long ad for a new series coming up. Disappointing
tbh i wasn’t really impressed with this video, i find it rude how michelle just moved on with the treasure hunting not realizing the family and people put their effort into at least trying to get into the caves. Idk if it’s the editing but it made michelle look like she was the only one complaining while everyone is trying to get home safe. obviously treasure hunting isn’t safe!! also, with the fact she didn’t believe in what the people are saying but continue to film just in case something actually happens just lack of effort and interest
literally my exact thoughts. throughout the video, I was a bit surprised because Michelle seemed very insensitive and ignorant at times. The man poured his heart and soul into this passion, explaining the history and his family's tragic story only for Michelle to completely gloss over that. It looks like she was complaining alot during the excavation, and how she has ZERO trust or belief in the hunter. Asking questions like "did you put that pipe there?" Or "are you sure that's man-made?" the dude spent his entire life doing these kind of things, only for her to think he's, in a way, "lying". I didn't want to think this, but it just felt like she was using them only for this market campaign for ubisoft, and not because she actually cares. Why was she even complaining like you're not gonna find literal treasure in just two days when the people have hunted it down for decades!!!
For once I don't have the feeling of a complete video .. It doesn't feel like a real good hard core video... The FBI academy / the fire fighter / the garbage picker videos were real good .. not getting that feeling now ...sorry
This was really disappointing. Those people were giving so much to make it an experience for you but to just end it and go home without showing more of the tunnel and claim it was all just the basis for an ad is really disrespectful.
I really enjoyed the video but chalking up a man who took the effort to take u and tell u about his family heritage just to dismiss it as not being the reason of the video when it LITTERLY the videos thumbnail and title like??? Anyway love the Philippines 🇵🇭
I don’t want to be hateful cause I really love this channel. I was really interested into the story and the idea and then it turns out that the goal wasn’t to find the treasure it was for you to beat the gamers . Which felt like a slap in the face for Henry and all the other people who helped. And I could tell from the beginning you weren’t very optimistic about it. Like I get it’s really scary but that’s normal for you, you’re the person who did Houdini’s impossible trick you made it possible. I just wish you really put your mind and your time to this. You gave yourself like two days to find gold and I think we both know that’s probably not enough time. I know if you were really determined to find this gold you would have found. 😢
23:17 what do you mean it wasn’t ever the real goal ?! you’re so weird for this weird twist. you used those peoples stories for your own gaming story? Could’ve been a whole different video instead of dismissing and disrespecting those poor people who have you all their time and personal stories for YOUR content.
Don't start an expedition like that before another big event. It could have been something huge, one big exciting, interesting adventure. And instead she just threw it all away in the end and didn't seem to appreciate the real people and their life and stories, and was in a rush to get away from there. I hope the real treasure hunters could go back there and gain their bonus for their work and that they are all safe and no one got in trouble for the info that Michelle did reveal with this video. This guys family story and everything was so interesting.
I found this video very unusual and very disappointing. Michelle is usually very respectful, and the adventures are honouring the subject matter. The video could have been a lot more respectful in attitudes and in its content.
As an Indian American, you inspire me Michelle to be the best version of myself possible. The way you face any challenge while highlighting the people who do the actual work is remarkable. You inspire me every day, thank you!
Bro I’m straight up speechless of how amazing this video turned out😮 good work & thank you Michelle. & Ubisoft and everyone els 😊 This intro gives the goosebumps on how good it is 0:52 🎉❤
I would LOVE a more in-depth video about the real treasure hunting and the history and conversations that were had with the guides on how they felt comfortable on camera and all.

I agree
I don't recall any point where she accused them of lying....we can all agree that tossing away the fist part of the video for an ubisoft ad was bad, but let's not put words in her mouth.
Agreed
@@soshiangel90 she did say she didn't know what to believe and was implying with other words/actions that she wasn't really believing their truth. she was trying kinda hard to debunk everything they have said..
@@soshiangel90 its pretty obvious from her tone what thought
Not how ads works tho
This
Two words: Use SponsorBlock.
Although the journey wasn't what you expected, I think it would be best to reflect with these disappointments as well 😊
I don't think those Filipinos really thought she was serious or that there was any treasure, they were just happy to go along with her youtube video.
Well said. Agreed.
ThIS thank you, well said :)
Agreed ❤

@@melime_gamer186 i just had a lot of thoughts. It was a very off-putting video
This video was a really big oof..did not like michelle attitude and downplay of their stories, also the fact that she only spends a few days on this, unlike her other videos where she spends weeks even months to do them to ensure that she is doing the right things:/
feels more like just a big advertisement for the thailand thing rather than caring for the actual excavation and filipino culture
I agree
there couldve been a set amount of things she had planned to do out there. the reason it only was a few days couldve been because no one wanted to share stories of what they may of found. downplaying the whole video because ubisoft sponsor is just unfair to Michelle.
I think I would've preferred if this video was like... Michelle saying "Hey, this didn't turn out well, but we fail sometimes too so we wanted to show you what a less than stellar video looks like. Here's what it looks like when an experience doesn't go according to plan!"
Yeah I expected cave adventure and we got ripped off on this one.
Exactly
yeahhhh for sure.
I guess since this was planned right before the event they wouldn't have had the time to go back, though I would LOVE to see a full video of treasure hunting similar to this.
it's just content for views, comments, and money
Yah this was basically a big ad
I felt the same :(
Yeah so disappointing 😞 😢
Same feels. It could've been a beautiful and exciting video but the ad really throw it out the bus.
The add completely ruined the video. I have a feeling this was kinda a money is too good to turn down type of video. The pirate ship video wasn't that long ago and the game came out before this video was released. So something doesn't add up considering Michelle's usual once a month upload. Just seems rushed overall.
Exactly dude
200th like❤😊
I agree, and that's a very good way to say it from a creator-viewer dynamic standpoint. Editing was a bit off. Things happen. I can't imagine the pressure of having to scrap a video when you have employees working for you whose livelihood depend on you... but yeah I would have done things differently. There's always next time, right?
Those treasure hunters wont ever deal with any youtubers ever again 😂

So you got all those people to work and drive you up there and you didn’t even go in? Afraid to get wet? Travelled 7 hours to get a half hour of daylight with no water? Who planned the trip? This was by far your worse video ever!
AGREED
in her defense it was getting dark in 10 minutes and she said its very dangerous to be in jungle at night time with no service. im kinda mad she got the hunters to tell stories and about family just to say i cant wait to get back because its going to be more fun. i feel like she should have made it there own video not just dedicated to the other video she was gonna make. i think she could have handled it way more mature but there car was not running and imagine if it was even more dark then what it already was. i think she should have put about 1-2 weeks into a video like this not 48 hours so that she can get to the "main" goal of the video!!!
Please don’t be rude, I agree w/ you, but please don’t say it like that
I’ll give u a better way to say it, because this comment may cause a lot of arguing:
"I do not like the fact you got all those ppl to work and drive you up there and you didn’t even go in.

@@abi.heart1frrrrrrrr!!!!
Exactly
I don't know ... I would think that the team would discuss with the treasure hunters if it's right to put these thing in a video, but if they didn't ... oof. You seriously think the people can get endangered by these clips?
I was so invested in this treasure hunt just for it to be a big ad in the end?😭
Jarring and bizarre ending. Seems like you were trying to salvage this whole thing.
the amount of money ubisoft threw at marketing a shit game is amazing
It's always that way.
Sorry for the tangent, I’m just iffy about the game.

..........Mic drop.......
Michelle
Just a 30 minute ad. Really should’ve realized it when she said the video was sponsored by Ubisoft.
The real treasure was the sponsorship made along the way.

But 20:34 tho :( People spend years researching about it, blood and sweat, and her team thought they can magically find something in a couple of days. This couldve been presented in a respectful manner.
definitely agree
Vibe was off for this one sis.

Yeah, she didn’t even attempt to go inside the cave, she gave up when they were close.
This was the most disappointing video of all the amazing videos of Michelle's adventures I've watched over the years.
True
I can’t wait for Michelle to explore Concentration Camps and hunt hidden WW2 gold, sponsored by the next Wolfenstein game!
But didn't Roxas' son admit in court that there never was a solid gold buddha ?
@@juandenz2008 It's possible, but I hadn't heard that.
@@juandenz2008 if there were diamonds inside it isnt solid gold i guess 😂😂😂 but seriously if there were diamonds then its possible it was gold plated/mixed metals including gold
Every time I watch her I’m so impressed because she’s doing so many dangerous things and still keeps going and never gives up .
She didn’t much in this one. I didn’t see her do any digging.
This video took a huge turn
I know many people have already said this but, I feel kinda bad for the people that really tried to explain the story for you and you just kinda threw it away by showing the hunting game in to make it more “interesting”
Is it just me that her attitude went slightly sour when they got to the actual place?
am 2 months late to this comment, but im so glad i wasnt the only one that noticed. her face looked a bit disgusted.
What did you learn? When a Sponsor invites you to an event, go to it, instead of mounting an expedition...
It all felt very icky and overly dramatic instead of real and kind.
completely agree it was incredibly insensitive and disrespectful
this was just an ad? GAAHHH bro.
glad to see by the comments that I'm not the only one disappointed with this vid. No hate intended whatsoever, but this was the first time one of your vids didn't hit. Maybe try be more focused with the content instead of trying to squeeze 2 videos and a brand deal in one
I love that Henry says yes ma’am, it is so polite.
Before watching the video I thought the comments were harsh...but after watching it, they seem justifiable 🙃
tbh.. not justified enough..
You Filipinos cry about everything
the amount of unbelievable stories Michelle is gonna tell to her grandkids... :0
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH🙏
SHOULD MICHELLE GO BACK THERE?? 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
👇🏼
I agree wholeheartedly
bump
100% agreed

Michelle‘s résumé is going to be filled with amazing experiences. She’s gonna get hired for any job.
That Skull and Bones treasure hunt looked like so much fun!
No it didn't, stop lying.
I really hope this man doesn't find himself dead by suspicious circumstances.😅
This video definitely felt very off..
She been on for a month we’re have she gone…. *this video definitely felt off..*
The comments were right, the ending of this video was clearly not what i expected..
So what is your profession?
Michelle: Yes!
All the jobs in the world.
All the jobs in the world.
All the jobs in the world.
All the jobs in the world.
All the jobs in the world.
Only Michelle would go on an ACTUAL treasure hunt to train on how to win a treasure hunt!!!! lol
you should try synchronized swimming! 🏊🏼♀️
Is nobody talking about how she straight said she's going to join a bombsquad academy?
yeah, she did lol 😂 she just posted it too
She just seemed so rude in this video like it was gonna be easy this is work like it’s. It easy
This was really disappointing. Those people were giving so much to make it an experience for you but to just end it and go home without showing more of the tunnel and claim it was all just the basis for an ad is really disrespectful.
LETS FCKNG GOOOO! 🔥 Philippines represent! 🇵🇭 ♥️
Michelle has so many more jobs and experiences than barbie herself 😭
I found this video very unusual and very disappointing. Michelle is usually very respectful, and the adventures are honouring the subject matter.
The video could have been a lot more respectful in attitudes and in its content.
Agree , the whole video she's very dismissive
As an Indian American, you inspire me Michelle to be the best version of myself possible. The way you face any challenge while highlighting the people who do the actual work is remarkable. You inspire me every day, thank you!
Bro I’m straight up speechless of how amazing this video turned out😮 good work & thank you Michelle. & Ubisoft and everyone els 😊 This intro gives the goosebumps on how good it is 0:52 🎉❤
Agreed.. im amazed!!
I would LOVE a more in-depth video about the real treasure hunting and the history and conversations that were had with the guides on how they felt comfortable on camera and all.
This reminded me of my late grandpa he used to take me out “mining for gold” we were just digging in to dirt but still the memories we made together are life long❤️❤️❤️
