I am an outspoken anti-communist but i have to give props to the Red Army. They weren't fighting for Stalin, or for the regime they lived under. They fought against insurmountable odds and suffered heavy casualties while their superiors watched from behind defensive bunkers, fully expecting them to die. They fought for their homes and their families when the Germans invaded *Their land. Their people. Their blood.*
the effects of the war were so devastating, so horrid, that its effects are still felt here 80 years later the people serving in our army never serve for their country, or their superiors, or the president, but only ever serve for their people, their families, themselves, for this very reason
True. my great grandfather always told me he fight for Russian people and his land.he hate Stalin and communists, but hitler was more worst than Stalin.
Possible, I've searched numerous sources but all gave me the same lyrics and "Nunc ad bellum" isn't present in any of them. If I did get it wrong, terribly sorry!
@@theeldonte Well, honestly you're probably more correct than I am. The "Nunc ad bellum" part is speculation, and it's mainly because I saw another commenter mention it, and because it fits the song ("Nunc ad bellum" > "Now to war"). But your version is probably just fine. Again, good work,
world at war wouldve been completely indominable if you could also play as a part of the axis armies. Germans during the blizkreig and operation barbarossa, italians in north africa, japanese in the pacific ending with your character dying in the battle of iwo jima. If it had this on top of what we got it could never be topped
When your game can even humanize every character from the soviets and Americans to the German facists and imperial Japanese by even seeing your enemy throb in pain on the ground making even you regret and even feel guilt and feel sorrow for what you are doing
My grandpa fought in Italian resistance in the communist brigade. He fought with might and courage, glory to every red-stared fallen, respect to the others.
Dude the couple first seconds fucking gave me GOOSEBUMPS and I felt a chill crawling all the way down my spine and to my arms, and then when the music rose ah the tears
Dragovich, Krevchenko, Steiner... All must die, but these words weren't be a thing, if Dimitri Petrenko Wouldn't help Viktor Reznov back there in Stalingrad. WaW (the Russian campaign) is a beautiful prequel to BO1. Both of this games are my favourite cod's by campaign. Most memorable, even the soundtrack. WaW and BO1 are the only games I'm going back months after months just to listen this epic metal riffs between classical/folk music. The brutal history with little cinematic aspects is the best thing I experienced in video game, I think we will never be able to get this type of game anymore in times when you cannot even tell the truth publicly without getting censored or even banned.
I love this game's campaign for lots of reasons, but one thing in particular was always my favorite. It showed both sides on the Eastern Front as the monsters they were. We don't like to think about it much, but the only real difference between the Soviets and the Nazis was their particular hated groups. Genocide and slavery were norms in both. As Reznov put it "the flag may be different, but the methods are the same". And while that doesn't mean a whole lot in the context of Black Ops, where one country operates very differently from the other, in WaW it rings so true. Which makes lots of sense, as the world had changed a lot between those two games, and Reznov was locked in Vorkuta for most of it. The ruins of Stalingrad, the war torn streets of Berlin. They look almost the same. You hear the screams of women play as you fight through Germany (not a huge question of why if you've read about the particular things both sides did when invading each other), and you and your comrades celebrate as the Commissar makes very clear that military or not doesn't matter to the Red Army when he says "abandon your posts, abandon your homes, abandon all hope!" I'm not saying the Western Front was sunshine and rainbows. The single largest naval invasions in history occurred there, and the allies basically pushed all the way through the German forces from multiple directions in bloody battles. But the way the Eastern Front was fought was more a gigantic list of war crimes than an actual war. And this game does a good job at showing that.
Your right the two were both cruel but it all comes to who started it and who couldn’t end it. Hitler could’ve just give up before war reached Berlin. This war was existential crisis for both sides thus it was brutal and this soundtrack portrays it beautifully.
What the hell is this stupid liberal "both sides" ?? Nazi Germany literally started the whole war with the CLEAR intent of committing mass industrial scale Genocide against EVERYONE in Eastern Europe that was considered "subhuman" that is why so many Polish people died that is also why so many Soviet people died. The 40 million dead in Europe were mostly direct victims of the NAZIS and of course also including the 6 million Jews. The USSR did NONE of that ever, give an actual example instead of just lying. The reasons the war in Eastern Europe was so awful is the same reason the war in China was awful, because of the Genocidal actions of the Axis countries.
If you listen closely while playing Nacht (I believe the Black Ops version) you can hear the Fall of the Reich play either at random or after Undone finishes playing on the radio in the mystery box room
The switch from Red Army Theme to Reznov's/Stirbt Mit Mir (Brave Soldat) was fucking chilling @ 5:55 - 6:00 This game never ceases to give me the same chills I had when I was younger. I'm in my 30s now.
Reading the lyrics and translating them to English. I always would hum along with the words as I couldn't understand. Now that I do, this song sends even more shivers down my spine...
45s was the most epic moments I have ever been in hearing that song while fighting your way through Berlin so many memories why can’t we have these epic moments anymore

the people serving in our army never serve for their country, or their superiors, or the president, but only ever serve for their people, their families, themselves, for this very reason
True. my great grandfather always told me he fight for Russian people and his land.he hate Stalin and communists, but hitler was more worst than Stalin.

I'm back after so many years... This music is still so powerfull !
This is awesome! A small note: I could be wrong, but I believe at 2:06, "Nunc ad bellum!" is sung. Great job!
Again, good work,
I replayed it a few times and yeah, sounds like they say nunc ad bellum before the next line
behold. the OST of the last great WW2 campaign on Earth
world at war wouldve been completely indominable if you could also play as a part of the axis armies. Germans during the blizkreig and operation barbarossa, italians in north africa, japanese in the pacific ending with your character dying in the battle of iwo jima. If it had this on top of what we got it could never be topped
@@swagalisgoodra2121 imagine playing as a squad of US Marines landing on iwo jima and then switching to a group of Japanese defenders for the campaign
@@swagalisgoodra2121 Nah that would mean you have to put in actual effort and risk a public stunt to not portray them as cult like followers
When your game can even humanize every character from the soviets and Americans to the German facists and imperial Japanese by even seeing your enemy throb in pain on the ground making even you regret and even feel guilt and feel sorrow for what you are doing
I think World at war has the best World war music

Probably the best version of Red Army campaign theme 💗💗💗 🔥🔥🔥 💪💪💪 greetings from Polish passionate of CoD series
I honestly just enjoy the speech in the beginning bro
Nah whenever I heard this theme I felt invincible never had so much patriotism for a country I’ve never been to.
You understand me
I don't even think I've loved a country more than the Soviet union that was portraied in this game
A country that doesn't even exist any more*
I love this game's campaign for lots of reasons, but one thing in particular was always my favorite.
THIS SONG WILL PLAY IN MY FUNERAL
"IT WILL BE THEIR LAND! THEIR BLOOD!"
This song did a great job of describing the Eastern Front...
