2:13 evokes the feeling that after having endured seemingly insurmountable catastrophe and immeasurable suffering, the Russian bear has finally awoken, and the red tide will now surge west and expel the Fascist invader... Fucking sick
Fitting, because that’s what happened. I can’t even comprehend how United States would change if it had to endure something as traumatic as what the Soviets did.

as to how russia survived ww2, i have no clue, but this song really represents the loss, sacrifice, grieving, and ultimate victory that the people of the USSR experienced.
The enemy was brought to lack flexibility on one hand, and tenacity on the other. After freedom of maneuver was attained, there was not much they could do to win. And the rest of the world never knew how it was done because international messaging was interceptable. So, the most the West ever heard of the matter was Reich propaganda detailing glorious victory after glorious victory - but careful listeners noted every one was always on the defensive, and always one river closer to Berlin.

0:00 - 1941 - Operation Barbarossa Begins and the western regions collapse. Kiev, Sevastopol, Smolensk and many more fall, Leningrad fights on and the Germans reach Moscow 1:32 - 1942 - Battle of Stalingrad begins, Operations Uranus and Saturn turn the tide and for the first time, the union marches west 2:05 - 1943 - 6th Army is destroyed and the Battle of Kursk takes place 2:56 - 1944 - Leningrad relieved, Sevastopol is retaken, and Operation Bagration breaks the German Army 3:25 - 1945 - Poland is liberated, the Allies cross the Rhine from the west, and Berlin falls
it's genius how the song begins from a slow and solemn opening, possibly matching the sheer gruesomeness of the opening days of Barbarossa, to become an almighty crescendo of noise and sound equating to the sheer waves of Soviet Rifles and Steel. glorious
The way the Soviets kept fighting even after the pigs reached Moscow gives me a feeling I cannot describe. I think the USSR is the unique true winner of the ww2
Listening to this while watching Eastory's animated eastern front is awesome. You get to see the German advance whilst listening to a sad tuned Russian song, then in 1943 (if you skip to there) you'll see a Russian counter-offensive that'll keep going backed by an upcoming, more enthusiastic beat. Finally in 1945, the Russians have made it to Germany and the Balkans where the failure of Barbarossa bites back on the German's heel. It is just an extraordinary feeling.
I don't think it's that solemn. Although the flag was raised, the war in the streets of the city most likely continued. Personally, it seems to me that this part of the composition is suitable for how soldiers return to their homeland, to wives and children.
Idk if it was done on purpose or not but the music begins somber, just like the soviets in 1941 then throught the song it gets more intense, and more triupmhant, peaking at the end, like did the Red Army in 1945
It took me 5 minutes to take mp3 file from the game files and upload it here, i wouldn't say i deserve it, but it always feels good when something you upload gets this much attention. Cheers!

You know what really fucking gets me? We sent a human into outer space, beyond the Earth, for the first time in our history - and it wasn't a monarch, a banker, or an oil billionaire, it wasn't a Rothschild and it wasn't a Rockefeller - it was the humble working-class son of a bricklayer and a milkmaid. Our first cosmic representative was a socialist, and he was a worker. And even if everything goes to shit, if the hourglass runs out on climate change or nuclear warfare, if we never reach our full potential as a species - the story I will tell my grandkids, between munches of lizard kebabs in our solitary Himalayan cave, is that for one hour and forty-eight minutes, we were humans, and we fucking won.

Apple trees and pear trees were a flower, River mist was rising all around. Young Katusha went strolling by the hour On the steep banks, O'er the rocky ground. By the river's bank she sang a love song Of her hero in a distant land. Of the one she'd dearly loved for so long, Holding tight his letters in her hand. I like how at the start of the song, I in a state of was awe from the beauty of the strings instruments, then when things started to pick up the pace, I enjoyed the feeling of the track, it sounding more militant; until the drums hit in which was like a little warning for what was coming up, making the song even more militant, then in a instant, I get drop kicked in the jaw by low brass, which it seems they have as much low brass players as the Soviets had soldiers, now it sounds like the embodiment of what the Japanese felt when they got news that the Soviets were attacking after they just had the first atomic bomb drop on them and hearing that they somehow managed to sneak tens of thousands of soldiers into Manchuria; after getting jumped by the low brass, the strings got my back up with a more relaxed tone, for the low brass to immediately drop kick my in the jaw again. It’s beautiful.

as to how russia survived ww2, i have no clue, but this song really represents the loss, sacrifice, grieving, and ultimate victory that the people of the USSR experienced.

Apple trees and pear trees were a flower,
River mist was rising all around.
Young Katusha went strolling by the hour
On the steep banks,
O'er the rocky ground.
By the river's bank she sang a love song
Of her hero in a distant land.
Of the one she'd dearly loved for so long,
Holding tight his letters in her hand.
Oh, my song, song of a maiden's true love,
To my dear one travel with the sun.
To the one with whom Katusha knew love,
Bring my greetings to him, one by one.
Let him know that I am true and faithful,
Let him hear the love song that I send.
Tell him as he defends our home that grateful,
True Katusha our love will defend.

Stalin: yes
