We just lost out on our new home due to timing, having no ties when you aren't in your 'forever' home is smart, not to mention the financial commitment of renting. No one knows how someone else spends their money, we all prioritise differently & spend as we wish for our lifestyle, plans & needs. I've learnt never assume the people splashing the cash are always wealthy & never assume the people with the crappy car are poor.

Shelby! I'm the same age as you (28) and I totally identified with the lack of need to drink as much as I did in my early 20's, now I only do it maybe on the weekends if I'm feeling up for it. Outside of that, I don't feel like its necessary and you save so much more money when you don't drink as much! I have friends who are happy to drink during the week and I've just realized it's not for me so you're not old, you're just listening to your body and being smart about it so I feel you haha also your apartment was beautiful but if it's the more cost-effective option to move into the townhouse and save for a place, that's an awesome move!!
just put a clause in your rental apartment lease that if you buy a home/condo or the company you work for relocates you ( moves you out of city/state) then your lease can be automatically broken with out any penalties. This type of clause in a rental agreement is very common. 😊

The expenses and how making that much doesn’t feel like a ton is real. I think the big issue is how that same amount isn’t guaranteed every year. I also feel like this year will be way weaker.
You are smart with how you are managing your money. Just because you make a lot of money doesn't mean you can't get into debt and go broke if you don't manage your finances. Don't make nearly what you do but I was in debt for a long time. Ended up taking me over 2 years to pay it off. Never Ever Again. Now I am way more intentional with my spending and am investing and saving. $1,000 is not a lot of money to have but it's a lot of money to owe.

There's a reason millionaires are millionaires.. not by spending it all, even though they can "afford" it. I think younger people see big numbers and think they can just spend that same amount. That's why you get stuck where you're at. You have to invest, save, be prudent about your spending, if you want to stand a chance at retiring ever. The people who actually save are the people who are going to be rich. I'm sure many people have seen the stories of people who obtained millions, only to lose it all not long after, whether lottery winning stories or however. Take a note from Shelby and Monica young people... save, save, save. Don't spend just because you have the money. Build that safety barrier and retirement fund.
Yes, of course it's a generalization. Most comments are generalized on the internet as they aren't meant to individually call out very specific people. Good for you and the others that are like you. I tried using the voice cloning to help with my girls’ voiceovers!! But I agree it’s not quite accurate enough yet! It would only work in a pinch! It’s crazy the possibilities though. Like a video editor could just use your cloned voice to put in the voiceovers.

I've been looking at homes and the newer built homes that you could get for 1.5Ms to 2.5Ms are literally double the price with less to them... like no pool, pool house, yard, and less space... many of them are using lesser grade materials also. Its as if you have to buy a tiny home like Elon or spend too much money to build one yourself.... I figure you could get the homes from the early 2000's that had the pool house and such because they still are around the 1 - 2Ms and you get the yard and stuff with them because the people that lived in them haven't updated the home or kept them up as much... Oh yeah, I also live in GA where 1 - 2Ms get you somewhat a bigger home still today.....pending what and where you buying..... so you just buy one with good bones and somewhat nicer materials than what is used to build new these days, because contractors are cutting corners... then upgrade and update the home at around the same cost to build one back in the early 2000's because for some odd reason inflation is still a thing under Biden....LOL. For me I may end up just getting a Boxable like Elon //// LOL

I hardly ever drink I've been thar way since my late 20s. I'm just over 50 now
