    Hello and welcome to my channel! My name is Johanna Janatuinen, I´m a physiotherapist, animal physiotherapist and riding instructor. A big passion of mine has always been training horses and also rehabilitation. This channel is all about horse and rider wellbeing, and horse and rider training and development. You will find tips to improve your riding in and out of the saddle, and especially on how to develop a better seat in the saddle, which I think all good riding eventually comes down to.
    I have worked with horses and riders for more than 20 years, first training horses and teaching riding in Finland where I live and also abroad. Later I studied to become a physiotherapist and after that also specialized in animal physiotherapy. I treat and train horses and riders, my biggest focus being to develop the connection and understanding between rider and the horse.

    I often let this fundamental element slip off my radar. I need to schedule a reminder for myself each month to revisit this video. Thanks

    Thank you! Thats very similar to how my instructor explained it, difficult skill, but so valuable! We also shorten a canter stride like this, don't we? Through the series of half halts,but the leg is still on?

    I’m a beginner and I didn’t quite understand what you meant about leg aids. You’re applying pressure with the legs at the same time? Like seat and hand say slow but legs say keep going?

    • @johannajequestrianphysio
      @johannajequestrianphysio  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes but very light pressure, just keeping the leg close to the horse to maintain the cadence, not to actually push the horse forward. There are so much nuances to it and you really develop the feel just by practice😊

      @@johannajequestrianphysio Ok, thank you! I’m working on lesson horses at the moment and I’m not sure they respond well to subtle leg cues 😅 But I will keep this in mind
