Everyone at Coffee Stain has totally nailed the Sci-Fi / futuristic / industrial look and feel that makes Satisfactory stand out from other factory builder games. The objects are realistic, functional, and believable. Everyone knows the feeling of going up on a lookout tower and admiring the factory cranking out products! Kudos to the art, 3D asset, code, and community teams. Keep up the excellent work!
I only really used the hotbar for conveyors and stuff, I've gotten to where I reflexively close build and press Q any time I build, even when I have the item on the hotbar

Honestly, the ethos of "we will release it when we are happy with it" has worked really well for you folks so far. I love the open, honest and occasionally sassy way that Coffee Stain interact with their audience, it means that, despite my inability to play the game (my computer is a decade and a bit old at this point) I still check in every week.
@@buttonasas I have two computers, a PC which can somewhat still run some modern titles and a laptop that can't run anything with the visual fidelity higher than a 2012 title. I downloaded Satisfactory on the PC after seeing the graphics, thinking it would be a brick to run, only to find out it was exceeding 80fps with everything on ultra. That ethos did some real magic to the optimization, probably not gonna be able to make anything big on the laptop without it going into thermal shutdown but unless they can manage to pull some even grander sheananigans before the fated official implementation of lighting in the game I can't see how in the hell they could manage to boost the performance even more without an option for even lower graphic settings.
The redesign of the tools! that right there tells us what an Art Director does! Torsten brushes them off as a minor tweak but they look soooo good. The train station looks awesome too, I'll hold off on my planned mega train station build though just in case there's hit box changes....
Coffee Stain Studios have some pretty amazing artists, even the concept art is on point, got that great futuristic industrial look. I hope Torsten continues to push the art in this direction.
Yes please! I love these interviews. It really feels nice getting more information after the famine that was between updates 2 and 3. I much prefer this information drip with the caveat that it isn't a promise than no information at all.
Oh man, it’s so cool hearing about all the design choices and how little stuff like the uplink moving when it’s in use actually function as a sort of game mechanic in that you can tell without checking the MAM whether it’s finished or not, like that’s SO COOL! I love little details like that.
Also, it’s just very cool to hear about the art from the perspective of the art director and all the thought that goes into creating a cohesive aesthetic for the game, that’s quite inspiring to me personally.
Something I've always been curious about, one of the first things a player interacts with is the personal miner, which has a sort of 'eye' that narrows and gives it a surprising amount of personality. Was it ever the plan to carry that over to the other machines to make them seem more like they had AI in them?
It would be so cool if we could have realtime information from the office in the main building, the one where the toilet is in. There is monitors maybe there could be an all over overview in a new window where we can open details of the production. That would be gr8

Ever since I discovered this game a few days ago, i've been hooked. The community is amazing, your staff is full of charismatic and wonderful people that are also DAYUM TALENTED. Your game has helped me a lot in these trying times. I work as a delivery driver so I'm constantly forced to interact with people in the unsafe conditions we experience now. Coming home from a long day of trying to dodge this virus to my library of games is nice enough, but Satisfactory in particular really helps me achieve elation as i find new and better ways to produce items in the game. I only have 30 hours in it so far, but i'm looking forward to the next 1,200+
Yes!!! They have literally been adding all of the major things I was hoping for in this game. Stackable mergers/splitters, the ability to select a building to build by looking at it and clicking on it, and now multiple hotbars will be a huge quality of life game-changer. And there are so many other things as well. Love this development team.
@@giin97 Maybe, but they already have the whole model/animation for it. If they made the animation separate within the model they should be able to tweak it or make the part modular inside the animation. I don't even care if the arm placements are a little off. It would just be nice to see what I'm manufacturing.

Once steam version is released, steam and epic will be same versions, but epic is going to get the hotbars early to try out in the experimental branch.
On a new multiplayer game, we still had the same bug on certain parts of land (such as bush, rock, trees) the host of the game uses the chainsaw to clear the land, for the second player, the land is intact and even can use its own chainsaw to harvest endless wood / leaf resources. And when we save - reload the part the resources have reappeared for the host
This is kind of cool, I've been looking on what Torsten have done ways before he joined you guys. He's really talented in my mind so this is great news!
I always thought it would be cool if the M.A.M. had like a little Glados robot that played with the item while it was being researched haha. Love all the new concepts can't wait to see what they will look like in game! I like seeing concept art even if it doesn't make it into the game.
I would love to see more concept art under the premise that nothing's a promise, seeing your art style will do nothing but inspire your community, these designs are absolutely STUNNING, every detail looks amazing and I suspect any changes would only improve!! The modding community would boom even harder in the model and texture front with more concepts too ;) Torsten, you handled that very well and keep up the great work with the team, you guys definitely produce some quality products. We really need to talk about pipe systems and how you intend on expanding them. Wether it be a new faster flowing pipe, faster pumps, dual output extractors or what, not knowing anything makes building pipe based factories kinda difficult if you want to make them expandable for future updates at the moment.

In general the artwork in Satisfactory is astonishing, this includes the characters the machines and the world in general, without doubt one of the best looking games I've ever seen (in 40 years of gaming so far) congratulations to everyone involved in this, I can feel the love in it. If you stand very close to a locomotive in the game you can see a picture of a building and a parking lot (not the factory) in its windows. I am confused. What did I discover?
the epic games hq ? it's by default when you develop a game on UE4, it's simply something to show when there is a refraction. you can see the same thing on the mercer sphere.
I love the new design of the train stuff, or at least the concept. One thing comes in my mind, when I saw the imiges, is the freight platform still assimetric. Looks cool, but if you have to place the freight platfroms in opposite for feed than the station direction, it just looks bad, and split the walkways aswell.
My two main wishes for satisfactory: A second body slot (not being able to Jetpack in a nuclear factory is annoying) And Character customization (helmet types, body types, gender swap, and color customization option that changes your suit and equipment colors)
Well, I think that would mess with balance and wouldn’t make too much sense. I think that a second body slot should be further down the tech tree and that instead of more body slots, they could make like a movement suit that combines the blade runners and jetpack or a protection suit that protects from radiation and poison. I think that these sort of upgrades being deep within a tech tree would produce the same effects but keep more balance and make more sense.
Great update. Nice to see the new hotbar. What about being able to equip more then one item on our person? :P Also great work Torsten and the art team! Looking great with the reworks. But I did like the current MAM for decor. Those 3 computer screens just looked fancy for like a factory control panel. Would like to see it stay as a décor item in the shop.
Something to be mindful of with regards to design is making sure buildable structures are modular. How will the train station interact with the other buildable structures in the game? Can you build next to it so the platform is flush? Does it look good if you have a bunch of them next to each other? Etc. For instance, the current train platforms do not mesh well if you try to build around them. One of the window types doesn't lie flush with walls built below it. If each part is like a piece of a jigsaw, players will be able to put them together in creative ways to make nice areas
I would like to see that the water extractors need a little bit less power because it really needs a lot of your freshly produced power especially coal like if you have 12 coal generators they would need the capacity of 4 not overclocked water extractors + pumps (depending on your location) and as you get 600MW of power just for water you yould already need 100MW (80MW for extractors but higher because you often need pumps). so what about taking the power needs of the water extractor to 10MW instead or 15MW at least? Also, I think the old textures for all the items and power poles, boxes and stuff looked at loot more satisfactory, sometimes I feel like it´s not the game anymore, so I would love to see an option where you can chose between new and old style for both types of players :D Keep efficient everyone!
I like this video because it creates some real hype for the train station redesign. Even if it doesn't look anything like what you showed us, we know your art team is more than competent, and we know it'll look dope.
I noticed on the MAM that there was what looked like an integrated personal storage chest? It would be really awesome if the MAM had a small inventory in a future update.
I report there are ABSOLUTELY no issues with multiple hotbars, you can release them already. It was cool to see another member of the team and all the art.

I think the concept behind unloading the whole tank is for two reasons, it's possible for one train to go out and do a freight run and then a fluid run without having to change setup. In universe, its faster to remove the entire tank and then fill/drain them passively rather than quickly

I just love the game. Keep on tweaking. WISHLIST: We need Signs to place on belts so we remember how much items per minute are on there. Fluidtrain cars should have higher capacity. Blueprints for building machinees so we can plan some machines to place and build the factory around without actually building the machines until we have the materials to build it (Until then you would just see a reflection or empty shell of the planned machine).
Can you add some sort of Signage item in the game? Or an ability to "name" a conveyor belt or storage unit at least haha idk. I want to be able to see at a glance what line is carrying what and where it's going.
So, not sure if the developers look at the comments, but you know how where the oil nodes are? The giant ocean? Is it possible to add boats, so we can traverse it? Maybe even have cargo ships, kinda like how the train stations are set up, but a autopilot system like the trucks? Just a idea, you don’t have to, I still love this game!

the epic games hq ? it's by default when you develop a game on UE4, it's simply something to show when there is a refraction. you can see the same thing on the mercer sphere.

I love the new design of the train stuff, or at least the concept. One thing comes in my mind, when I saw the imiges, is the freight platform still assimetric. Looks cool, but if you have to place the freight platfroms in opposite for feed than the station direction, it just looks bad, and split the walkways aswell.
My two main wishes for satisfactory:
A second body slot (not being able to Jetpack in a nuclear factory is annoying)
And Character customization (helmet types, body types, gender swap, and color customization option that changes your suit and equipment colors)
How about four body slots? (Jetpack, Gas Mask, Nuclear Mask, Blade Runners)
Well, I think that would mess with balance and wouldn’t make too much sense. I think that a second body slot should be further down the tech tree and that instead of more body slots, they could make like a movement suit that combines the blade runners and jetpack or a protection suit that protects from radiation and poison. I think that these sort of upgrades being deep within a tech tree would produce the same effects but keep more balance and make more sense.

Great update. Nice to see the new hotbar. What about being able to equip more then one item on our person? :P Also great work Torsten and the art team! Looking great with the reworks. But I did like the current MAM for decor. Those 3 computer screens just looked fancy for like a factory control panel. Would like to see it stay as a décor item in the shop.
Something to be mindful of with regards to design is making sure buildable structures are modular. How will the train station interact with the other buildable structures in the game? Can you build next to it so the platform is flush? Does it look good if you have a bunch of them next to each other? Etc.
For instance, the current train platforms do not mesh well if you try to build around them. One of the window types doesn't lie flush with walls built below it.
If each part is like a piece of a jigsaw, players will be able to put them together in creative ways to make nice areas

I would like to see that the water extractors need a little bit less power because it really needs a lot of your freshly produced power especially coal like if you have 12 coal generators they would need the capacity of 4 not overclocked water extractors + pumps (depending on your location) and as you get 600MW of power just for water you yould already need 100MW (80MW for extractors but higher because you often need pumps). so what about taking the power needs of the water extractor to 10MW instead or 15MW at least? Also, I think the old textures for all the items and power poles, boxes and stuff looked at loot more satisfactory, sometimes I feel like it´s not the game anymore, so I would love to see an option where you can chose between new and old style for both types of players :D Keep efficient everyone!

I like this video because it creates some real hype for the train station redesign. Even if it doesn't look anything like what you showed us, we know your art team is more than competent, and we know it'll look dope.

I report there are ABSOLUTELY no issues with multiple hotbars, you can release them already. It was cool to see another member of the team and all the art.
I am so hyped for multiple hotbars. Also PLEASE add a power cable that places power poles mark 2.

What about a fluid train station, with a pipe going to the top of the fluid car.
this is already in the game, it loads a tank onto the car just as a normal station loads a box
@@alienXcow24 I know, but after that it doesn't make sense to load and unload the entire thing, seeing how the station itself is currently a copy of the normal one but connected with pipes. Just needs a little love
I think the concept behind unloading the whole tank is for two reasons, it's possible for one train to go out and do a freight run and then a fluid run without having to change setup.
In universe, its faster to remove the entire tank and then fill/drain them passively rather than quickly

I just love the game. Keep on tweaking. WISHLIST: We need Signs to place on belts so we remember how much items per minute are on there. Fluidtrain cars should have higher capacity. Blueprints for building machinees so we can plan some machines to place and build the factory around without actually building the machines until we have the materials to build it (Until then you would just see a reflection or empty shell of the planned machine).

So, not sure if the developers look at the comments, but you know how where the oil nodes are? The giant ocean? Is it possible to add boats, so we can traverse it? Maybe even have cargo ships, kinda like how the train stations are set up, but a autopilot system like the trucks? Just a idea, you don’t have to, I still love this game!
