  • The Greatest Movie of All Time - It Was Shot in 12K in 1962
The name of this movie is: Lawrence of Arabia directed by David Lean and cinematography by Freddie Young.
It is a masterpiece of cinematography, directing, acting and also won the Oscar for best picture.
In my opinion, this is the greatest movie ever made and nothing, absolutely nothing can match the visual of this film.
Ben-Hur was another film that got close to this quality and of course many others would be worth mentioning but if I ought to pick one, Lawrence of Arabia would be it for me.
Do not get hung up on the resolution, 4k, 8k, 12k, a million K, what matters more than the resolution is the DETAIL, without it, 12k would not do justice to the quality of an image.
The grain in 70mm film and/or IMAX is also almost invisible which is how I like it.
If you have a chance, watch this film and you will thank me for it especially if you are an aspiring filmmaker, cinematographer or director.
There is a lot more to talk about regarding this film, and I might definitely make more videos about it but for now, I hope this will inspire you.
There is the 60th anniversary edition which I have not purchased yet but they say, it will blow your mind, the film was scanned at 4k.
Here is the 4k edition if you wish to buy it on Amazon: amzn.to/3R9qfoz
Even watching it from any online streaming platforms will be better as TH-cam compresses it way too much.
It makes me feel as if I am there with them, the effect is like no other movies.
After watching it for the first time years ago, I remember being in awe of it!
P.S.: 70mm standard film might be more like 8k technically but to my eyes, it looks way more than that.

So beautifully shot, and of course the acting was 10/10 from all the actors. Stephen Speilberg always said the camera angles and shot composition were great inspirations.

I first saw it as a child when it premiered in 1962. I’ve seen it a dozen times since then, & of all the blockbuster movies, there’s never been anything that comes close to Lawrence of Arabia. Truly, it’s the greatest film ever made.

I must have seen it 60 or 80 times over 60 years and it’s not only the most beautifully filmed picture it’s the most beautifully written and acted. There are monumental themes, subtle nuances, triumph and ultimately tragedy. Everything in that film has a point and a counterpoint, it is a conflict of will with capability, a sense of knowing a precise plot and losing one’s plot utterly. It is identity and ambiguity. The most stunning film ever made.

I saw the rerelease ... in 70mm ... where it originally screened in L.A. ... the old Cineramadome ... that's when it became *my* favorite movie as well.
    Thumbs up.

A fantastic movie and superb cinematography. Great cast and acting. Great locations in Jordan, Morocco, Spain and London with iconic landmarks. All hail David Lean who was a master of epics. Sweeping music by the famous Maurice Jarre who was the father of Jean-Michel Jarre of electronic music fame. TE Lawrence was a remarkable man of the ages. He wrote a great book about his adventures: “Seven Pillars of Wisdom”.

I love this film. But for me, the greatest film of all time is BEN-HUR. (1959)

I haven't seen a single list in which this is the greatest movie of all time. Though it is certainly a great movie.

That's why I decided to make this video because to my surprise, this film doesn't get listed as much as it should. I feel like it's the pinnacle of a true cinematic and film look.

There’s no accounting for taste. It has the best cinematography, writing, score and acting aimed at a fascinatingly romantic yet somehow remote subject. Tragedies don’t head film lists, feel good movies do. Lawrence is ultimately a tragedy…

Well, you know who loves their lists? Americans! You know what LOA is? Not American.

Watched the remastered version in a Theatre, one of the greatest cinematic experiences ever🤯
So freakin tired of Multiverse dumb movies, and this is coming from someone who loved Tim Burton's and Christopher Nolan's Batmans, Del Toro's Hellboy, etc
No genius here, but people in general are dumb, and people tend to like dumb things

completely misleading to say Lawrence of Arabia is 12K when its shot on 70mm film, so its not comparable.

I wouldn't call it the GREATEST (The Seven Samurai is) but it is a wonderful piece of art.
