That rail squeal is absolutely grating to the ears
Yeap, these are very old Metrorail trains. We're pretty much used to that sound here in South Africa.
Thanks for video and the info. Makes one really sad to see what has become of Prasa.
Thank you Mark. It is very sad indeed but I have hope that at least most of what has been damaged can be rebuilt over time.
Great footage from the train, Marval!
Thanks Theo
Thank you for the footage, Marvel! Were those broken cable wires around 3:58 into the clip?
Sadly, yes. The cables were cut down by copper thieves during lockdown but they are being fixed. It will take some time though. Thanks watching Gemma
I like the way it stops at Pretoria

Thank you very muchð
Correct me if im wrong, but those cables appear to be gooonee!!
Yeap, that's correct. This whole corridor has been completely stripped of cables, the only place that has them is Pretoria station.
@@marval44039 thats hectic, even here on our central lines, close to where i stay, they've started stripping cables.
Its surprising how Gautrain wasn't affected by cable theft ð 2:09

I see EMU's have turned into DMU's.
Haha, sad but true. It's not how things should be

Yes, we must be the only country in the world that has electricity powered Metrorail trains hauled by diesel locomotives. It's a temporary solution to an on going cable theft problem we have
