    Pretty thorough and elegant presentation! Been trying to see what the heck is wrong with my random orbital sander, after replacing its Velcro pad. You actually helped me understand a lot about my sander and the function of its break. Many thanks and greetings from Greece.

    My pad and break assemble came loose while I was sanding, and I lost one of the three screws holding the pad in place. Found them at Lowe's....Stainless Steel, Pan Phillips Machine Screws, 8-32 x 3/4. Worked perfect! Couldn't find these anywhere on the web and Dewalt doesn't offer them as well.

    Excellent info and visual. I followed your instructions, especially how to install the springs, and our sander is like brand new. Thanks!

    This was a great video & great advice to order a second set. Note that the metal springs are individual not a set. Thanks.

    To make good videos that viewers can see, your shop needs more light. Your voice and words were very good clarity.

      This was actually made for a friend. It was never supposed to be this popular.

    Thanks for the video. I’ve done this on mine, but the pad is binding on the brake. Any ideas?
    Thanks

      The "spring" behind everything has these little "feet" that wear out, and they start working like a chisel, binding up every so often. It took me forever to find a replacement, but that is most likely the culprit.

    Hey I wonder if mine is having this issue, when I turn it on it spins but once I play it on what I’m going to sand it stops and starts like dragging. I opened it up and behind the pad that aluminum sticker looks a little word and the brake has a part that looks like it was some kind of foam circle that melted

      Sounds exactly like yours needs to be replaced.

    I installed according to your directions, however, the brake is rubbing against pad bottom and the brake is melting. Springs appear to be fine. Why?

    • @BIGDH2000
      @BIGDH2000  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you have the four stems of the spring in the correct slots when you reassemble. It sounds like they are not and causing the breaking system to be too tight. I had the same issue which is why I tried my best to point out the spring placement in the video. Another user had the wrong items for the model with similar issues. Confirm the correct parts were bought for the correct sander.

    I just did this because mine was dragging, not running fast enough and smells hot. If I run it without the brake and pad it spins up fast. So it isn't the motor, it is this brake and pad combination. Any advice?

      @BIGDH2000  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put in a new one.

      bigdh2000slingshotchannelstuff I did. I just replaced the brake and pad. I just came across something that said my oscillator bearing might be stuck?

    • @pjcassidy1
      @pjcassidy1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That did it. The bearing was froze up. I got it loose, now it works OK.

      Forgot all about that. Every time I open mine up I hit the bearing with WD-40.

      @@pjcassidy1, I'm having the same trouble as you. Any chance you can let me in on what you did to solve the problem? I know it's been a while but anything you can recommend doing, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks and stay safe!
