  • USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) is the lead ship of her class of United States Navy supercarriers. The ship is named after the 38th President of the United States Gerald Ford, whose World War II naval service included combat duty aboard the light aircraft carrier Monterey in the Pacific Theater.
    The keel of Gerald R. Ford was laid down on 13 November 2009. Construction began on 11 August 2005, when Northrop Grumman held a ceremonial steel cut for a 15-ton plate that forms part of a side shell unit of the carrier. She was christened on 9 November 2013. Gerald R. Ford entered the fleet replacing the inactive USS Enterprise (CVN-65), which ended her 51 years of active service in December 2012. Originally scheduled for delivery in 2015, Gerald R. Ford was delivered to the Navy on 31 May 2017 and formally commissioned by President Donald J. Trump on 22 July 2017. She is expected to leave on her first deployment around 2020.

    What a beautiful ship! Built in Newport News, Virginia. And if I remember correctly, each time an island is fitted upon a carrier being built, a silver dollar is placed under it as it meets the deck. Good luck, I believe or Good Sailing. Something like that. Rock on, US NAvy from an Army Paratrooper veteran!

      Billy McAuliffe Actually if we're going by that logic, China is ruled by a migrant because China has been Conquered by different ethnic groups who claimed to be the real China, also Trump didn't draft dodge smart one, he got a legitimate medical deferment, something you wouldn't know about

    Anyone who says this carrier is a target is correct, its a huge target. If those people continue and also say that it would be easy to take this thing out need to punch themselves in the face. There is no country on this planet that has the technology or advanced systems capable of taking this thing out. And to the person who said that countries are going to start shooting nukes and nuke tipped torpedoes at it, if it comes to that and a country decides to start shooting off nukes then we're all screwed anyways. Oh and I hate to burst the bubble of someone who spoke about our debt but we're planning on a few more of these in the years to come. 12 total actually. #sorrynotsorry

      Pierre your comment doesn't make sense. Can you clarify please?

    • @Bgmgcraft
      @Bgmgcraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Ward I would like to correct you on your third statement wich is : "There is no country on this planet that has the technology to take this thing out". Actually you don't seem to know how far technology has risen and how deadly some of the new (and not even new in some cases) submarines are... Exercises have shown that the "protection bubble is penetrable with a successful 3 hits.... One torpedo is already extremely devastating compared to what movies / video games tend to make us think so 3 is near lethal... Anyways this think may be huge but it is far away from being invincible : after all it's a just a big boat like another

    • @kevinward3230
      @kevinward3230 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This is why carriers don't travel alone, always in strike groups. So even if a sub could get close enough to fire off a torpedo they couldn't get a clean view of the target anyways. Also there are only a clutch of countries with the kind of torpedoes that you're referring to. Russia, Iran, maybe China, and us of course. I said as much in my previous post. These are called supercavitating torpedoes. And before you start giving me specs on how they work and all that just don't bother cuz I already know. And as far as the super stealthy subs that you mentioned there are 3 countries that have something like that. Russia, China, and the US. And we have the latest in that line. Plus were on good terms with those countries. It sounds like you're dreaming up a scenario in which the US has to go to war with 6 countries at once. Regardless of tech, there is no country in the world that could stop us 1 on 1. Most other countries that do have these things don't have but like 1 or 2 anyways. And they would be the first targeted. So we're good. And before you argue again just understand that I work in this field as a civilian. With a higher clearance than you so please don't try and argue global readiness and weapons platforms for other superpowers. Thanks.

    • @Bgmgcraft
      @Bgmgcraft 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Ward Lol I have no proof of your "clearance" so I'll count that as false (you can copy paste articles about whatever you like I don't give a fuck it doesn't prove your knowledge). Judging by your first statement you simply don't want to understand what I'm telling you. Even in close formation with the "protection bubble" surrounding your carrier, 3 torpedo hits have been marked with the sub remaining undetected the whole time. Some countries that aren't as big have way better than technology than your "area 51" can only dream of but you Americans only work in numbers... You have shit ton of tanks and planes Wich are very good but not the best. Your power comes from the fucking 12 carriers (how useless you said it yourself a scenario of 1 vs 6 will never happen) and 600B budget Wich could be used on other important stuff (not building walls btw) so pls dude stop talking to me like you know your shit or like you are allowed anything cause you simply dont listen thus you will never know the truth, only what you want to believe... Pls don't reply I never meant to be aggressive but you took it that way so go ahead and nuke the entire world that will end well for all of us

      Their hunger will go nowhere even if trillions are spent on their food arrangements.
      They will be hungry next day.
      Only giving jobs and employment can reduce hunger index and that is responsibility of the respective country for it's people not USA.
