Available in over 30 languages and able to transmit bespoke news stories faster than ever, its threat to the mainstream media is clear. But can we trust it? And would anybody actually watch a channel that lacks the human touch? The Guardian visited the channel’s creators in Los Angeles to find out more - and to audition for a role

Any AI model released into the public domain must be open sourced.
This is just another example of the Billionaire Class restricting 0:02 the Worker Class from enjoying the pursuit of happiness.

Fine, but viewers/consumers need to be able to choose whether or not we support AI by viewing it.
AI generated music is already being passed off as human-generated here on youtube, & it's frustrating that we don't have a way to opt out.
We need an accurate mandatory labelling system so we can opt out of AI if we want to. Because lots of us want to.

Yes that would certainly be helpful. But difficult to make happen perhaps. Internet legislation hasn't had a great history so far! Rich

I think if more people read The Guardian or BBC or al jazeera more people would give up on American media. Because those 3 are the most unbiased news organizations these days.

Of course I don't watch TV news. I read the articles in those 3 news organizations.

The models are ruining their futures. Once they have you as an AI why would they hire you again. I would never fall for the AI trap. The AI people are just trying to get in on the ground floor and cannot be trusted.

This isn't a bold new step, it isn't even a tenth of a step. The full step won't be AI anchors producing a single media for mass consumption, it will be each of these AI anchors communicating output designed specifically by genAI tailored to each specific audience member. No longer will specific broadcasters cater to specific demographics, instead each broadcaster will be able to compete for every individual's attention by tailoring their individualised anchor's output to the audience member while weaving in arguments that might convince the audience member towards the ends of the broadcaster.

Certainly the bespoke element is being worked on. Channel 1 are keen to stress that they want to provide a balanced news diet. What exactly that looks like remains to be seen... Thanks for your comment, Rich

Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a source where we could see only our elected officials, politicians and anyone else that the news is about. Just what their speeches in their entirety, unedited or interrupted by a panel of commentators we don’t know for a hole in the ground. And If there were a Q&A at the end the questions would be free of presuppositions, direct and to the point.

    • @theGuardian
      @theGuardian  วันที่ผ่านมา

Do you think people would watch that in significant numbers? I'm not so sure. But certainly it would be harder to misconstrue or add spin to their words I guess. Thanks for the comment, Rich

Yes it can and it will. As the billionaires continue to enslave us. You however Guardian have helped. There is some good reporting but most of you are lazy. Facts incorrect, even basic stuff eroding the confidence. We have got to the stage where only a small amount of people actually read news and go to social media where they pick up conspiracies.
Don’t get me wrong you are top tier, but the damage has been done by your expense accounts and laziness. If you are in this for money, just leave please. You are supposed to be an important part of society, clearly you know you are not anymore. And you are far more trusted than the BBC who’s legacy he been destroyed in a decade. Now they are just protecting abusers, pedophiles and rapists. So much so nobody wants to pay the license fees. The BBC has been killed internally and the head still wont resign.
You created this reality and we already have AI news. The level you reported on will be here in 5 ish years and there will be thousands of sites selling fake information and conspiracies.
Your fault. If you are lazy please get out of the media. It’s not just you doing a shit job, its killing sense and accuracy but you are killing the World.

Some models are purely AI. I suspect in the longer term that might be an easier route to go down. Less mess when you can just create humans from scratch... Fun! Thanks for your message. Rich
