- Deep Space Bovine
- Raiders of the Lost Book
- The Princess of the Frogs
- Cluck Around the Clock
- The Final Chapters

This game does not seem finished. Excessive enemy spam to the point where they even overlap each other regularly, bad hitboxes, no checkpoints, minimal healing opportunities to compensate for all the damage you'll end up taking, and absolutely no i-frames to prevent getting double and triple-tapped from enemies and attacks overlapping. The level designs also need some work, as they seem to be randomly generated from chunks, which can lead to a bad level-makeup for one life, and a completely linear and boring line for the next. The story could also do with some work, to better understand what is going on.
Markilplier/Jacksepticeye said it best, a game that is challenging but fun and creative is good, but when a game is frustrating, challenging, and tedious - it is bad.
The Beethoven boss is definitely the most interesting idea out of the other ones I've seen from this game. I just kinda wish they would time his attacks with the music instead of just having him randomly press a note on the piano

Listen, I get it. Two people made this game, and I will say there are some good things in this game, but you can't make it hard and bad at the same time. Then it becomes unfair.
Enemies spawning constantly, no phase animations, and shielding certain attacks. They aren't bad concepts but they aren't executed correctly. Worst part is that there is no invincibility frames when you get hit, so you can get hit by the same attack multiple times
Some of the boss concepts are really cool and you can tell which bosses took inspiration from the ones in cuphead in terms of level design. For example, the princess’s level having many similarities to Cagney’s fight. I feel like if they tried making the attacks less randomly generated/all over the place and refilled your heath at some points it would be alright. There’s a ton more criticisms that could be given to this game that I’m not gonna type out lol. Coming from a massive cuphead fan it’s uh... yeah, I do not have the patience to play this game myself idk how you do it
The general ideas for the game, like the bosses and stuff, are actually pretty clever. I wish they had been given time to be actually good

Perhaps if they focused more on the boss fights and the changing art style gimmick it would've turned out differently.

it had earlier concepts perfectly mastered whilst leaving out the main features they shouldn't have skipped on such as never being invincible or the actual balance between the difficulty and the Assisting of the player to be a fair game
you can’t possibly defend a game that is devoid of sound effect other than stock hit sound effect
And genuinely frustrating levels design, no i-frame whatsoever on hit
Tutorial doesn’t even tell you how to deal with other colored enemies until you looked up yourself
And wand magic feel weak, feel like it does nothing and most important, terrible game balance and story
And cost for $20? I say bullshit

It costs 20 bucks just like Cuphead, add the DLC and Cuphead still costs more than Enchanted Portals. Yet Cuphead is cheap for all the content we get, here it's worth about 5 dollars tbh

last fight feels like they had a bunch of character ideas with no place to put them, so they're all just jammed in as different phases with no connecting points
The problem is that there was clearly passion and good ideas, but it either didn’t have the time, direction, or budget to be polished enough

I agree with every criticism aside from no checkpoints. Neither does Cuphead but then again Cuphead balances difficulty in a fair way that isn’t just enemy spam.

In terms of difficulty for this game, this is a throwback to hardcore arcade days.
No mercy, no "easy mode", you either "Get gud" or you lose.

I had to go back and watch Esther Winchester's boss fight to fully grasp everything wrong with the animation during the buffalo fight.
Its like the devs just looked at the space and said.....Nah there needs to be 6,000 more of these guys right here, oh and just for a kicker, we'll give the player hearts, but they won't last long at all. I love your vids Dawko🤟

It seems that for the Cerberus boss, the lightning is summoned in the location of the bubbles that get shot by the pug, after they pop. Communicated very poorly, since there's no indication that the bubbles and the lightning correlate at all. Even something simple as adding some crackles of electricity around the bubble as it floats would improve the readability of that attack tenfold.
i think they literally just left enemy spawns and boss attacks up for random chance or something like that lol
I think the key difference with this game and Cuphead is that Cuphead honors the fact that it's based on old school Mickey Mouse/Popeye styled cartoons. Which is why the visuals, sound effects, gameplay and difficulty are a lot more hectic.
Enchanted Portals, though similar to Cuphead, unfortunately doesn't have that same energy. All it has is the artstyle. The sound effects doesn't breathe any life to the game in my opinion. It falls flat. Just like a lot of other elements in the game that I wish had a bit more polish.

The lack of telegraphs from the attacks for some of these enemies and bosses is insane. The only half decent looking boss is the Beethoven fight, since that fight has a clear attack telegraph. This game looks unfair most of the time.
I think it’s silly that you can only harm enemy’s with there specific colours when in cuphead you can harm them with any weapon

Cuphead: Cuphead lost his and Mugman's souls to Devil by not listening to Mugman's words of reason and thinking that luck is on his side. Now he and his brothers have to beat up guys to take soul contracts from them and bring it to Devil to have their souls. In the end they either overthrow Devil and free everyone or join Devil and rule the islands with him.
Enchanted Portals: Two kids decided to cast a portal in process of cleaning the house... now they have to catch the book they used to cast the spell. But for some reason they beat up a princess who is just resting near the lake. And the only thing that is story-wise connected to your problem while beating the game - the book that is met in almost every cutscene(cutslideshow to be precise).
It wasn't underfunded... It was a RIPOFF WITH THIS UNIQUE COLOR MECHANIC BEING DEVELOPED 5 MINUTES BEFORE RELEASE, AWFUL ENEMY SPAWN AND DESPAWN, SAD AND BORING LEVEL DESIGNS, NO INTERESTING(or at least logical and meaningful) STORY. This project has no soul because of this because it has 0 aspects other than animation which are good.
Keep up the good work Dawko. Thank you for being willing to do a second part of this even though it is stressful. I will agree that it was a cool idea for a game, but the implementation was rough.

I think this game has a great concept and, like you said repeatedly, the aesthetic was overall great. I think they may have not spent enough time on the actual gameplay though and that's why this feels rough.
The problems with this game are that there's no tutorial text for what button is mapped to what so the melee and the block go unused by players who forget they exist or where they are in normal gameplay, the randomized levels have unreasonable bullet hell gameplay in some parts that are merely enemy spam and not much else, and the stiffer controls give issues with precise aiming, particularly in bossfights like the frog Princess.
Honestly, beating this game is a test of mental and physical energy, lol. Thanks for the fun playthrough, Dawko! ❤

This is probably what Cuphead would've been like if the studio didn't pour ALL of their life savings into it and remortgaged their house just for the sake of completing the game. The passion is there but many game design aspects either felt rushed or poorly thought out. Plus, the rng aspects of the levels and enemy placements does nothing but ruin levels for the player.

Why does the cerebus not have an idle animation anymore, that sounds nitpicky but there’s no point in scrapping all this pretty good looking animation
I feel so bad for Dawko. This game could be good, but its like the devs just said "let's fill every nook and cranny with adversaries and projectiles and make it damn near impossible!" Definitely needs some work. At least you can get hit more than three times without dying, though.

This kind of reminds me of the level randomness in "Dragon's Lair II: Time Warp", because that one also features going through the Garden of Eden, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and has a part with Beethoven too.

Yeah this game is sadly rough under the hood. The art is pretty cool, and fundamentally this type of game works (it's cuphead).
Sadly, randomly generated (but varied) threats in overly long, mostly flat stages with a (nice looking) rage inducing 3 phase boss, with no I-frames or health between stages. Great watch though Dawko, it must have been pretty harsh but you beat it😅.

I agree w/ the opinion The Game Salmon had about Enchanted Portals. It'd be better off as a boss rush game exactly like Cuphead and severely limit, if not eliminate altogether, the run-and-fun side-scrolling levels.
The bosses are actually really cool I wish the best for the creators and hope their game gets better
I just finished beating the game on Normal. No way in hell am I touching Insane Mode. What a miserable experience.
Edit: Dawko made the game even harder by never shielding. The block makes you immune to damage so you don’t have to dodge all the spam.

Actually, for the Frog Princess, you can also aim diagonally down if you lock your character in place. Still not good game design, but just letting you know.
If you do this game again but multiplayer when the potions in this boss are falling go backwards instead of forwards because forwards makes you get hit more

I'm strangely intrigued by this game. Cuphead is one of my favorite games ever, and I'm totally baffled as to how you spend years developing a clone but manage to fail in every conceivable way.
Did the creator ever test run the game? Cause to be fair if it’s possible for the creator, it’s possible for us. But some of the spamming is crazy.
