    While on the subject of inaccuracies in what has been written about the life of Sadhu Om, I must confess that I have just spotted an inaccuracy in what I said in this video. That is, I wrongly said that Sadhu Om first came to Bhagavan in June 1946 after reading Sri Ramana Vijayam the previous month, namely in May 1946, but he actually first came to Bhagavan on Saturday 6th July 1946 after reading Sri Ramana Vijayam in June 1946.

    Thank you Michael James for all your hard work. I've known of Bhagavan for many years now, and used to visit Arunachala Ashrama, Queens New York, often. Yet it is only now that I have been wanting to dive deeper into His teachings, and the works of His devotees; in this case, Swami Sadhu Om. 🙏

    The first time I came at Arunachalaramana Nilayam,on 10/02/1988,the first words of Swami Dakhapaji = "Om Sadhu said : 'To turn inside,look either at the 2 eyes of Bhagavan or at the pic of Arunachala .' ";all the other things turn us outside.

     @Sri Ramana Teachings Michael, please if I may ask a question which has been playing on my mind: In your opinion, is it possible for devotees to reach the level of realisation for which Bhagavan realised at that young age? My understanding is that we must purify the mind through self-enquiry; although this may bring us to a peaceful state devoid of thought and anxiety, will we not still perceive duality? Practiced to its complete conclusion, does self-enquiry have the potential to remove the perception of duality we experience?

    • @SriRamanaTeachings
      @SriRamanaTeachings  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hello Tommy, the simple answer to your question is yes, absolutely. Self-investigation (ātma-vicāra) will ultimately remove ego, the perceiver of all duality, so in the absence of ego what will remain is just ātma-svarūpa, the real nature of ourself, which is ‘ēkam ēva advitīyam’ (one only without a second).
      This is, when we investigate ourself keenly enough, we will thereby be aware of ourself as we actually are, so since ego is a false awareness of ourself (awareness of ourself as something other than what we actually are), when we as ego become aware of ourself as we actually are, we will thereby cease to be ego and remain just as we always actually are, being aware of nothing other than our own being, ‘I am’. In other words, instead of being aware of ourself as ‘I am this person’, we will be aware of ourself as just ‘I am I’.

    i get the newsletter in my email, read the article a few days ago and not that knowledgeable about sadhu om and even i was a little confused at certain points in the article!
    question: this hurts the credibility of that newsletter which i trusted was credible. should i proceed with caution from here on out?

    • @SriRamanaTeachings
      @SriRamanaTeachings  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Namaskaram May, as a general rule it is best to be cautious with whatever we read or hear, because we humans are all fallible. Only Bhagavan’s actual words (which unfortunately does not necessarily include all the translations and recordings of them in English and other languages) can be relied on entirely, but the meaning and implication of even his words tend to be distorted when they pass through the filter of our minds, so ultimately we must depend only on his silent teaching, which is always shining in our heart as our own being, ‘I am’.
      In the case of this particular article on Sadhu Om, I am sure it was well-intentioned, but whoever wrote it seems to have depended on inaccurate sources and also in some cases to have misinterpreted what they had read in those sources.

      @@SriRamanaTeachings, because the article is to be continued, in order to avoid further inaccuracies and misinterpretations it would be advisable to contact the writer of that article before publishing the second part in Saranagati March 2023. In this way by coordination in advance one could try to reconcile or clear up different interpretations. As I noticed, contributions published in the journal Mountain Path are generally never anonymous.
      However, in the face of the fact that Michael James assisted Sri Sadhu Om in translating Bhagavan's Tamil writings and of having spent more than eight years studying the teachings of Bhagavan Sri Ramana under the clear guidance of Sri Sadhu Om, having published fourty four parts of "The Paramount Importance of Self Attention" in the Mountain Path it is to my great surprise that the mentioned article on Sri Sadhu Om was published without contacting and cooperation with Michael James.

    I have personally seen old copies of Arul in which Sadhu Om as Matha Dasan has written songs on Janaky Matha keeping her as his personal Goddess and as பாட்டுடைத்தலைவி.
    Sadhu Om changed all the songs replacing Matha's name with that of Bhagavan's. As Janaky Matha had surrendered to Bhagavan in and out, the change of name had no effect for her. I studied in Thanjavur and Sri Deenanathan was my teacher. Through him I became an ardent devotee of Matha and Bhagavan, closely associated with Janaky Matha Ashram. I Had the blessings of a long association with Sri Deenanathan and Sri Chidambaram who along with Sri Natarajan/Matha Dasan/Sadhu Om were three Brahmacharis lead Gurukulavasam under Janaky Matha. I can humbly proclaim that i am fully aware of the Purvashrama life of Sadhu Om more than MJ.

      Namaskaram. In order to back up your claim that ‘Sadhu Om changed all the songs replacing Matha’s name with that of Bhagavan’s’, can you show any songs of Sadhu Om in which he replaced Matha’s name with Bhagavan’s name? That is, can you show any songs of his of which there are two versions, an earlier version with her name and a later version with Bhagavan’s name?
      There are no such songs, because why would he want to or need to change any songs in such a way? Though he was later disillusioned by her (in the summer of 1955), he did have great love for Janaki Matha prior to that, so he expressed his love for her in some songs. However, since he was deeply pained and disappointed when she disillusioned him, he naturally discarded all those songs in which he had expressed his love for her, and he continued to compose songs on Bhagavan, as he had been doing since July 1946, soon after he first came to know about him and subsequently met her.

    All silly mistakes 🙏🏻 focus on the teachings of swami and practice efficiently 🙏🏻 Bcz of old age MJ is behind accuracy. These things will be taken care of by Sadhu om compound management. Why should we worry. Everything is past tense like a dream. Correcting a dream is foolish 🌻🌷🙏🏻🙏🏻 Sorry for the comment 💐🌺

    • @josefbruckner7154

      @polepallesatish, correcting a dream is foolish, that may be. But why then do you prolong this dream by writing a comment on this issue ? By the way, MJ is not at all in old age. 🙂

    • @josefbruckner7154
      @josefbruckner7154 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @johnmcdonald260, I think in the same way. As you correctly emphasize:
      this dream needs to be relinquished and Self-enquiry is essentially correcting this dream for good. Otherwise the dreamer keeps dreaming about reality forever 🙂
