Scott - This is out of site. Normally I have to use layers to create a sky that I fee may need to be changed. This gives me a whole new way to attempt to keep the original sky which is much preferred. Really great video Scott. Thank You.

Hi Meyou. I hope you are well. The situation took me away from my channel for a while. Everything is back to normal now so I am back to my beloved channel 😀
I've always used the Haze Removal filter to emphasize the sky, but you end up with a lot of blue in the clouds, this is much better. Thank you.
The haze removal tool is OK but as you say it can leave colour artefacts. There must be a way of performing a cleaner dehaze using local contrast and a couple of other operations. I will have to look into it.
Yes please can you do another video on Sky replacement ~ One where the sky selection it is a bit more difficult, such as through a leafy tree, which I can never figure out how to do correctly.

Cheers Samuel. I am looking into creating an advanced selection video for skies etc. I want to make sure it is something easily repeatable and concise. Selections of complex objects like trees and leaves from complex backgrounds with clouds are particularly difficult to get right.

You are very welcome. I use the develop persona to adjust layers quite often. It is a quick way to make multiple adjustments. Especially when adding clarity.
@@ScottWilliamsPhotography Unfortunately it's a destructive way to edit.
@@Tim.L You can always make a copy of any layer before you edit. Being destructive or not is down to the user. Apart from that, this method is not destructive at all as it makes a copy of the sky before moving into the other personas. As the original sky is perfectly intact it is not destructive.
When I use this method, my photos on zoom look very grainy. How can I fix it?
This method enhances detail so any grain will be enhanced too. You could denoise the area before enhancing. This will be true of any method that brings out detail.
You have a Nikon D600, don't you? I see an oil spot.
This was taken with a Sony a6000. It was my first camera and this was on my first trip out with it a few years ago. I did own a d7200 for a while but I just couldn't get on with a DSLR after using mirrorless so I sold it after a few weeks. I preferred my little a6000. I think the little blurry spots you are seeing may be insects close to the camera. I remember there were swarms of midges that day.

I know! That image was taken with a Nikon d7200 a few years ago. It was brand new. My first day out with it. You would think the sensor world be clean from the factory. It was a nice camera but I didn't keep it very long as I prefer mirrorless cameras.
