I enjoyed this! It was interesting to listen to others- plants you won’t get me to agree on (they have ancient properties and correspondences that are older than tarot itself) but I definitely feel you on food decks or famous people!
I'm starting to think that some decks aren't that deep and well thought out (in terms of meaning/symbolism, cleaver concepts illustrated with intention) is because the average person doesn't have, or want to acquire the depth of knowledge that some studious, learned readers have. It's like mainstream music. Two dimensional, same formula over and over, but the average person loves it.
The wonderful thing about those things is that you can practice them in ways that feel authentic to you without engaging in whatever is making you uncomfortable about its representation in pop culture. And I have had moments of feeling that way too, gotten too comfortable at work and been quickly reminded that a huge majority of the population still sideeyes the occult. If that is any comfort to you
I detest Insight Editions/Titan Books. They make the laziest decks ever. But they’re not even really meant for tarot readers, their market is for fan girls/boys/nonbines…cash grabs. I bought the Caticorn tarot which I like and I have two other cat decks but those two I never use 🙈 I have one ai deck but when I got it I wasn’t as knowledgeable about ai decks and the detriment to artists. I pay more attention to that now. You two cheer me up, I’m slightly sad I missed the live but I had plenty of giggles watching it afterwards 🩵
I used to enjoy the thought of fandom decks, uuuuuntil insight editions absolutely slaughtered all of the ones they’ve launched thus far 😵💫 unless it’s a well thought out indie I avoid them like the plague. You both are right, most publishers think we are ignorant or blind to their half efforts
watching the replaying , i enjoy these videos

True! If every deck were a Mary-El or a Star Tarot, it would be extremely overwhelming.
i mean tarot, paganism and witchcraft are all so "pop culture" these days. it's a complete shame.

actually, i do think that some, sort of pop, decks are great for children if one is looking to introduce a little one to tarot.
