    Hi Robin …what a great video…friends hanging out together capturing superb images of your country and sharing with us. It’s a pleasure to watch . I may have to dust off the EP1 and the 17 mm 2.8…they are currently languishing on my display shelf as I usually take out my EPL8 with the Lumix 20mm 1.7.
    Great to see Matti with you, look forward to seeing more vids of you both & friends.

    Great seeing the two of you, I hope you both had a blast! I have the 17 2.8 and was trying to use it for video and found the noise it made while trying to focus was way too loud. I switched to the 17mm 1.8 and LOVE the lens for photos and videos! I would definitely recommend the 1.8 over the 2.8 unless you want the smaller form factor.

    • @robinwong
      @robinwong  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The 17mm F2.8 was the first Micro Four Thirds lens, and was not designed for video AF. The optimization for video work happens much later. I don't recommend to use it for video work.

      I discovered accidentally that this humble lens is fantastic for video, but it was in noisy locations throughout.

    Hi Robin! I always enjoy seeing your photo walks with friends (nice to see Matti too!) I know some TH-cam photographers set up photo trips to exotic places for groups of amateur photographers. Have you ever considered doing something like that for Malaysia? Having someone who knows the country and is a good communicator and photographer as a guide might inspire people to sign up.
    It looks like you guys had a fun time!

      Hey Robin (so cool to call another person using my name heh). That is an interesting idea and definitely worth exploring in the future. I have quite a bit of things happening in my life right now, so won't be doing anything crazy any time soon. But thanks for suggesting!

    I just ordered an EP3 from Japan after watching your videos. I have an outdated EPL1, and needed a camera with autofocus and after seeing your videos, I think I'll pair the Ep3 with a 17mm 2.8 since ill mostly use flash at night

      Because motorcycles are much cheaper than cars, it is a popular mode of transport here. So the place having fully park motorbikes is a common scene here.

    Looks like a fun outing. Matti did not behave like the stereo-type reserved Finn. I have both the 17mm F1.8 and F2.8. In spite of the specifications, I prefer the results from the 2.8 pancake lens. I use it for candid photos of the family and vacation travel. Not sure why there are different results. Could be the pancake lens renders differently or more likely I use the lenses differently.

    • @robinwong
      @robinwong  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I admit technically the F2.8 older version has more technical flaws and issues, but I prefer the outcome from the older version vs the new F1.8 lens.
