Same here the 70s were good times, great cars and awesome music, bands, and singers and those who lived it will always miss that era for us it was the best.
I grew up in the 80's-90's... but the 1970's is my favorite era of pop/rock/soul/R&B etc. It's an absolute gold mine just waiting for the younger generations to discover.
Thats the way I like it and (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake your Bootie are two other KC & the Sunshine Band hits that you'll love. Can't really go wrong with any of their songs.
Back then, tambourines were everywhere that music was played - concerts, church, cookouts. It never occurred to me until now that they’re kind of rare now. How sad, they make such a joyful sound.
Yes it was two tambourines but without the skin, they are referred as _Jingle Rings,_ which makes sense since the "tambour"(drum) part doesn't exist here.
Shon, brother, please continue down the KC and the Sunshine Band rabbit hole!! Love your reactions! They were my favorite Band growing up. Next song, That's the Way I Like it. You'll love it!!
This is what I was jiving to when I was 14-15 years old. We had THE BEST MUSIC back in the day. We had ROCK, DISCO, FUNK MUSIC & REAL COUNTRY MUSIC. Tambourine is the instrument
Omg, there's also Boogie Shoe's (one of my favs), Thats' The Way I Like It, Shake Your Booty, Get Down Tonight and many more. All with lots of horns, bell bottoms and dancing. This was so much fun!
Sparky grew up in miami, with 1 of my friends. Practiced for years while most of school kids were partying. He made up for it.still is.😊. A lot of times,he used studio musicians for his backup band.
❤ Loved your reaction! The Disco era was SUCH a fun time to be young and at clubs every weekend dancing. No racial division like you see today. Black, white, and hispanic were all there together for the music. 💃 🕺
65 year old brit here, I worked and holidayed in California in 1977 for a six week period, I was privileged to see K.C. & The Sunshine Band at Disney Land (LA) live on stage.........so many great memories for me during that trip.
They were THE disco band. Hit after hit after hit. "That's the Way (I Like It)" was one of their biggest. Man, I miss disco. I miss dancing, and discotheques. It was such a big part of one's social life to go out and dance. SIGH And how about those PANTS? Disco fashion was off the charts. So colorful, sexy, proud. (By the way, you can still learn an instrument. It's definitely not too late.)
Yup, I'm really grateful I grew up with such great music (of all genres). 😊 Back in the day (in Montreal), the weekends were all about going to the clubs, the discothèque and even roller disco, and grooving and dancing the night away; KC and the Sunshine Band were on repeat! I miss the 70's! You'd love all their stuff, so check it out! Suggestions: 'Boogie Shoes', 'Shake, Shake, Shake' 'That's the Way I Like it', 'Get Down Tonight' etc.
Who would have ever thought that young white boy could be so funky? I was into rock in the 70s and wore a “disco sucks” shirt proudly in the day. Got sent to the principals office on my last class of my senior year in 1981. He called my mom to tell her and she informed him that she bought the shirt for me. Kiss my ass principal! That being said, have mucho respect and admiration for KC and The Bee Gees in the day.
Twenty-five years ago, I took my 14 year old son to see these guys. (He plays a mean saxophone himself and was just a beginner then.) Without a doubt, it was THE most fun I've ever had at a concert. I heard him tell his friend that "that band was amazing"!
If you're looking for disco, you can't go wrong with KC. They had several huge hits. The instrument is a tambourine, btw. I'd love it if you would react to the group Bread (definitely NOT disco, but lots of ballads with deep lyrics). "If" is one of my favorites.
I’m 70+yrs, during this era we thought KC was black too. However, it didn’t matter, it was just good music and great artist…those were the days my friends!❤. Keep reacting, I love your appreciation of the legends!!
KC n the Sunshine Band...Still vibing today decades later .....every dj'd party still fills the dance floor with these jamms in 2024❤ ...great to skate to back in the day🎉
I was out dancing to music like this EVERY weekend!!! Disco NEVER died for me. K.C. and The Sunshine Band was and is FIRE!!! 🔥💖🌟 Disco was VERY popular at roller skating rinks all over America!!! 💕🕺🥁🎸🎺🎷🎹
KC still doing Disco Cruises with many of the musical artists from back in the day! If your a young person please get on board for the time of your life! Oh Yeah! 🔥
God Bless You Harry Casey i am a 64 yrs old music lover and you are 73 yrs old and i want to thank you for giving me 50 yrs of happiness and Good music. Bro you need to react to a few mores songs from KC & THE SUNSHINE BAND like for example = boogie shoes , get down tonight . thats the way i like it or you said you gimme some more. KC and the Sunshine Band is an American disco and funk band that was founded in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida.
That instrument he's shakin' is a tamborine. "Shake Your Booty". " That's,The Way I Like It". "Get Down Tonight". " Boogie Shoes". Gotta get up and dance to this band. Just can't help it.
Agreed, my brother. We need to bring back this kind of goodness. The REAL real. The 60s and 70s had so much good music it's ridiculous. The old stuff just had a more soulful, warmer feel to it. Recording wasn't about perfection, but capturing the players and what they do best.

Shon Glad you liked It, song suggestion's "Boogie Shoes 👞👞"and "Shake, Shake, Shake, SHAKE your Bootie!" 🎵 💃 🕺 💃 🕺 💃 🕺 🎶
I grew up in the 70’s and KC & the Sunshine Band was one of the premier bands. This is disco and Boogie referred to dancing. They have so many other fantastic songs!
Get Down Tonight was their first huge hit. Boogie Shoes was chosen for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, one of only a few on there not written by the Bee Gees. For a different real treat, look for a live version of I Get Lifted--that whole band can dance!
It hurts my soul that some of these young people don't know the basic instruments. I'm 65, and I'm sure I knew what a tambourine was even as a young kid. It was also sometimes the only instrument used in churches back in the day. The term 'boogie' means to dance. I have a ticket to see them in February at the MGM in Maryland. I will have on my 'boogie' shoes 💃🎶🤗
8:20 back in the day we were surrounded by actual music and musicians who inspired us. Sadly i was never allowed to play an instrument but i received inspiration from the music just the same...we lived for listening to the records and radio❤
K. C. and The Sunshine Band has so many hits. They have a nice slow jam I know you would enjoy, "Please Don't Go." Also, you'll love "That's The Way I Like It," "Boogie Shoes," "Shake, Shake Your Bootie," "Get Down Tonight." Shon it is never too late to learn how to play a musical instrument. There are so many online music instructors for which ever instrument you want to learn how to play. The instrument you were talking about is a tambourine. In order to play that one, is that you need to listen closely to the music and get in with the rhythm of the music. Pick up a tambourine and give it a try. Great reaction. Continue with K. C. and The Sunshine Band, you won't regret it. LOL!
Miss this SO much. Going to dance clubs in the 70s was so uplifting…ALL varieties of people just groovin together. Best feeling. Glad you liked KC and band.
I grew up in this era!! We'd play KC & the Sunshine Band records on the record player & make up dance routines. They have a TON of huge hits. KC & the BeeGees (among others) are really the faces of disco (and funk) in the 70s.
It was a simpler time. Disco was all about dancing to the music. It was the "last time'" couples danced together with ballroom-type moves. You should look up some old footage of disco dancers. It was fantastic and exciting to watch. I hope clubs experience a revival of partner-dancing. (Shon, you know this; every hottie loves a good dancer!)
In addition to this huge 1976 hit, the group had hits with "Get Down Tonight" and "That's the Way I Like It" from 1975, "Shake Your Booty" and "Keep It Coming, Love" from 1976, "Boogie Shoes" from 1978, and a few others through the end of the decade, including a couple of slow love songs. As you can probably guess, they were also a popular live band, and KC was a heartthrob. Girls had posters of him all over their rooms. There was a lot of other great disco-funk from this time period, as good as this even, from groups like Brick, the Commodores, the Brothers Johnson, Ohio Players, Parliament, etc.
Music was EVERYTHING to us in the 70s. I miss those days.
Sure was....I miss those days so much 💯💯💯
Same here the 70s were good times, great cars and awesome music, bands, and singers and those who lived it will always miss that era for us it was the best.

I love *Get down tonight* by them....used "shake a leg" to it 😂😂Granny from Germany 🙋♀
I grew up in the 80's-90's... but the 1970's is my favorite era of pop/rock/soul/R&B etc. It's an absolute gold mine just waiting for the younger generations to discover.
Back when brothers actually played instruments almost 50 years ago and still touring today.
50 yrs? I was a teen when this came out. Damn I’m old. Just seems like just a few years ago.
MORE than 50!
they are tamborines! Let's BOOGIE!
Or tambourine
No racism just lights and dancing, everyone just having a great time.
So many people don't get this at all....we were all doing it together! 🙏
@@anns6215oh please! There was plenty of racism. This is a group of people working together, not people hanging out together. Big big difference.
AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? IF YOU WERE NOT THERE IN THE SEVENTIES AND EIGHTIES.@@JadeK297
@@JadeK297 I bet you watch Joy Reid. Religiously.😉
Back when blacks and whites sat together and watched Archie Bunker followed by the Jeffersons and laughed their arses off!
If this song doesn't want to make you boogie, you've got issues.

No you can't go wrong with KC and the Sunshine band.

I love seeing the black & white musicians grooven together..
Sly and the Family Stone were leaders of equality too
They played for the love of music, color be damned! Grew up loving all the genres of music during the 60s and 70s; the music was all that mattered!
Who cannot smile with this music video?
You definitely need to go down the KC and the Sunshine Band rabbit hole. They never disappoint!!!
They were entertainers, not just a band.
This is still a banger. Can't believe it's almost 50 years old!
What you saw was a Tambourine
It was two tambourines I think. He doubled up.
@@Particulator Huh. You learn something new every day. 🙂
The tambourine was a staple of the 70’s. Ah good times you would have loved it!
I grew up on this. How lucky am I?
KC and the Sunshine Band was the highlight of the 70’s. Love them still to this day.
Omg yes 💯💯💯
Best music era ever, real vocals, real musicians, dance music and good times, you are right, bring it back, let's dance again.
Makes me miss roller skating! The ice cream man used to blast KC when he hit the neighborhood too!

I was a kid when this came out, I am 62 now and I still have to get my creaky old self up and dance around my house when I hear this, ha!

Its a song about a radio DJ playing the hits anytime day or night.
