Yeah man, still got mine! The is the body that has racked by far the most clicks in my entire camera collection, and it traveled the world with me. It was also the body I used to create ah HR educational TH-cam channel back in 2017 or 2018, so yes, when you adjust your focus manually and let it do its thing, the results are pretty decent for TH-cam. Still works like a charm, and it was my body of choice to shoot during the Dubai 2020 Expo with a 20mm F1.8 G prime.
I like the video quality of the D800 in your video. I have a D610 and the Z5. I have used both as a Webcam for my zoom meetings. Even though the autofocus performs better and smoother on the Z5, the D610 is still far better by a long shot than the Webcam on my laptop. I placed the 50mm f1.4g on my D610 and video is set at AF-F. When I move back and forth, you notice in the video that the camera does autofocus. All in all, the bokeh with the D610 looks much better than the artificial blurred background Zoom produces for video conferences. I mention the D610, because it was released right after the D800. They are within the same generation of Nikon's camera lineup of 2012-2013.
Hello Vahagraphy, I remember waiting in a line at a Photographic show in the UK to order the D800e. I think it was on the first day that you could order it in the UK. What an icon of a Camera it was.
Its tough to shoot AF on a D800, The AF for video is bad and you are limited in functions. if your ok with this , its good, IF you do MF then you will be good.
Vahagraphy let's meet up with Mozman and take pictures this year at This three-day spectacle in the sky will return to Surf City USA® September 29 through October 1, 2023. The world-renowned U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Canadian Forces Snowbirds, and, for the first time in Huntington Beach history, the F-22 Raptor Demonstration team, along with dozens of other military and civilian aviators from around the world, will headline the show's seventh year. Right??? Sounds like fun if were all free and available!!!
You are rocking the D800 in 1080! I still have my D700 and D800, but got the new Z8 at launch. All cameras are capable of producing good work and lighting is the most important part. The newer cameras just make it easier.
THe D800 has HDMI out. so Im assuming you can have a video signal coming out. the AF is not going to be good. if you set it on MF you should be fine. I've never used this camera as a webcam nor have I used the HDMI jack for anything so dont quote me on that.
I do record videos for guitar playing and my old D610 far outshines my Z6ii when it comes to a certain grainy edgy film look, especially with 24 fps with minimal lightning set up....don't know what it is, but if only it had reliable Autofocus, there's no way I'd be using the Z6 ii, the D610 has a beautiful output that really requires very minimal tweaking
have her too,but now af is broken because of water damage. After i bought a D5 for every day use, but was not soo happy-the pics from d800 where somehow nicer-shit😅. Fortunately the D5 took me to the next muay thai gym and we started training together with that crazy guys-now i love love the D5 ( flickr-efc hua hin ) But for landscapes i will order now a second body-D810- and then i am the happiest 60y old man in the universe🙏
Nikon may significantly boost sales by manufacturing a monochrome version of the D850 DSLR, which has the same body as the present model but lacks a color filter on the sensor, as well as a monochrome version of the D750 DSLR. This could be fantastic for Nikon, since the company already possesses the high-quality lenses needed to complement the monochrome sensor, most notably the renowned D lens. Furthermore, due to a recent rise in monochrome camera sales, Ricoh is having difficulty keeping the Pentax K-3 III Monochrome Edition in stock since it is constantly selling out. I just bought a new Pentax K-3 III Monochrome model, which is a fantastic monochrome camera with a touch-screen display, as well as an Ibis stabilization technology that works well with adopted lenses. Because I'm so pleased with my Pentax monochrome camera, if Nikon launched anything similar, I'd be the first in line to get it.
D800 - Great Camera to this day! For anyone interested, this guy still uses the D800 for nature videos to this day: th-cam.com/video/tXUE29IqSbI/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the link. Indeed. Checked out some of his stuff and everything evokes a great feeling (besides the quality being way more than acceptable for social). I had a D600 I gave away after I bought a Z5. Actually wish I’d kept it 😢. Might have to pick up an 800 series camera at some point.
Side note, when I worked in the fashion industry in 2013, I made boss man buy a D800 for video and if had the money, I would buy a D800 just for the video.
I have several of those but one copy has 200k shutter. Beat up to hell but still does the job. And it has not got the best build quality. Its build quality is good but nothing like D700, D3, D4 etc... Those are bullit proof😅
You're using it wrong then lol. We have 8 of them and they all have way over 500k actuations on them and still working fine. The only issue is usually the shutter which is easily replaceable. It has great build quality and has taken many beatings from my line of work.
The manual focus is beautiful. I HATE when TH-cam bloggers use autofocus and it’s constantly hunting for focus.
Yours was nice and stable.

That is so good, the Nikon D800 with the Nikon AIS 50mm f/1.4 lens sure look really good. You got the coolest cameras and lenses Vahagn. Great video.
I bought mine one year later 2013 still using it almost everyday the sensor is still great !

So many older cameras are being used every day !! Well done ! Video looks great !
I remember buying the D800 on release and then using it for professional video for the next 4 years. Loved it.

Yes I agree, using mine every week;

❤
Thanks for proving to me that I don’t need to buy a separate camera for video and can just chill with what i’ve got and maybe rig it out

Hi! Can I sue the D800 as a Webcam of sorts? (I don't need to record video, just send the signal to OBS which will record). Thanks!

@@Vahagraphy thanks! I will likely put a manual lens on it :)

Looks good to me!
I have always thought the 30/40 megapixel cameras yield the best combination of IQ in All lighting conditions
I like that D-800
I have a same experience!🔥🤣😊
I still shoot with mine. Love that camera.
Its usable as it has 1080p. However, the D810 is a much better choice. For a start, it has better white balance.
true but when I bought mine the D810 was not even a rumor and now D850 is even a bit better !
I'll watch the money next time My Man!!! lol;:--))
Confirmation ZF announcement 20th this month of September 23 ! have a nice day Bro .
