The question every AEW wrestler dreads to hear right now. They have to watch their words, you can see the anxiety all over them. It very much sounds like Tony is too far in the other direction from Vince, when really a wrestling company needs someone in between the two. Someone who's a boss without being cut throat. Someone who's approachable but not a pushover.
Nicest guy in the business. Tony will watch this inteverview and be over the moon, not reading between the lines of what Dustin's acutally saying. Translation: Tiny's the biggest money mark the business he has ever and probably will ever see. He's a pushover that I can talk into nearly anything, and he gives me complete control to help Swerve along.
That's the great thing about Tony as a boss, he will smoke weed with you and give you some of his coke and he wants to be friends with everyone. And he doesn't care if the company makes money or anything. He will even let you use your own ideas in matches and promos, he just wants hugs.
So you want the wrestling you watch to produced by people who are passionless and couldn't give less of a shit about wrestling beyond the money it can make them? The fact the Tony is a nerd means he actually wants to put together the kind of show he wants to see. I remember regularly watching WWE PPVs from around 2017-2019 and you could feel how little Vince cared about giving people a good show. It just felt like each PPV was just treading water and refusing to go in the direction the audience wanted it to. Part of the reason AEW even exists is because former watchers like me got sick and tired of how bad the product was so we jumped ship.

That is how the NWA was. When it doesn't work, those people go away for a while, then come back. It worked for Brian Cage. If failed miserably for Andrade. It is good and bad. Those stories aren't always good. It is a different method that have fails some, but succeeds other times. Skye Blue, Hook, Julia Hart, Willow, and now Queen Aminata have thrived with this. On the hand, guys like Nick Comorato and Griff Garrison should take any offer they get from NXT, because AEW has misused them.
@@Ghost-fc9hw Sorry to post again, but I wanted to give an example of long term booking that WWE fans don't understand. Athena was initially pushed as a babyface. It didn't really work to the level of her talent. They turned her heel and sent her to ROH. Over time, people said they were wasting her because they didn't get instant WWE-like gratification. Now, after a long time, look at her. She is the forever ROH Women's Champion and Minion Overlord. She is now one of the best built long term characters. She just retained her belt against Shida and is believable to beat any woman in the ROH and AEW division. I love Bayley as a wrestler, but her recent babyface turn was so boring and uninteresting. I think WWE fans don't like anything that isn't predictable and simple. Look at Cody. The whole storyline with the Bloodline was so simple. WWE just insults my intelligence too much. That is my opinion.

So in other words tony is what would happen if any member of the IWC actually had money.
i play serious wrestling booking sims. the fun way to play is to get the most money and most fans. "God Mode" gets boring fast. You want numbers and you want to compete. That makes games fun.
I've played Universe Mode before and once you get bored you start booking random gimmick matches, this is the perfect description of what TK is doing

He's getting it in AEW. They take him seriously and give him tittle shots against top guys.
AEW is treating him great
Tony is obviously on the spectrum. This is also why he claimed he feared for his life from Punk yelling. Tony is daydreaming about Starrcade 88, playing with wrestle buddies, hugging his favorite wrestlers, and recalling the matches while everyone else is trying to produce an episode of AEW . Meanwhile the Bucks and their crew are feeling they don't need to do anything in a way that can actually get the business over and that they can do carnie no sell bs. It all makes sense now.
Dustin is speaking diplomatically, but what he's saying is Tony's a Money Mark. He's a fanboy with a bank account.

He’s so on the booger sugar

So you want the wrestling you watch to produced by people who are passionless and couldn't give less of a shit about wrestling beyond the money it can make them? The fact the Tony is a nerd means he actually wants to put together the kind of show he wants to see. I remember regularly watching WWE PPVs from around 2017-2019 and you could feel how little Vince cared about giving people a good show. It just felt like each PPV was just treading water and refusing to go in the direction the audience wanted it to. Part of the reason AEW even exists is because former watchers like me got sick and tired of how bad the product was so we jumped ship.

@@Ghost-fc9hw WWE fans will find anything to hate AEW for. AEW does not push one person and neglect most of the roster. They give stories to most people, then let their talent succeed or fail.
Dustin spoke a bit more freely about McMahon years ago in a shoot where he said he despised him but respected him thats the difference he probably loves Tony but the respect is not there because of the 'fan' mentality he has for the business
