    Hi from England
Thank you for posting lots of these Alan Whicker documentaries/series from back in the day
I was only born in 1965 so only remember watching episodes aired by the BBC around mid to late 1970's.
Alan was for me the greatest journalist of that time. Looking back its such different times and different people.
Were they better times? In someways maybe

I'm blown away how he's able to rock a suit like that in Thailand without melting.

These Wicker's World episodes are great time capsules of different parts of the world. Also they look great as they were filmed on Film.

I am shocked these women spoke almost perfect English in 1972......Even now it would be rare to find any Thai women that speak all but perfect English....

These women are from the upper class of Thai society. They would have been educated in English as they were growing up.

too hot to wear suit, shirt and tie in thailand. i reckon Whicker only rocked the suit & tie for a few minutes to film the take then peeled it off and strutted around in leopardskin speedos

It’s funny to listen to his amazement that women can be so successful. He is slightly condescending, but I suppose it was 1972.

His tactless, blunt questioning does come off as rude, but the women handled that admirably.

No, 50+ years ago even until now, the Lord... He was and Is and Is to come....
Moving in the midst of this people, that they would know Him. True! Even back then and before....

I still see how the prevalence of the monarchy and Buddhism merge to mould this society.
However as I've become very familiar with Thailand over the Centuries its been somewhat warped.
Women arent just tycoons but theyre more than that.Theyre the leaders, bosses and bankers in the business and life.
Fsmily is everything in Thailand and women do anything for their family and men are happy with that but they're very much the inferior when it comes to being a leader.
Whicker touched on it but couldn't say it as mentioning Buddha snd the king in a negative way isnt acceptable and could result in the ultimate punishment.
