I will add there are at least 4 spots on the switchbacks where the trail is partially or completely obliterated. I had to hang onto the side rocks to step over 2-3 foot missing trail sections.
Depending on your risk tolerance, you may or may not even notice these missing sections 🙃

Very nice. Great job. You could probably see a long ways from up there.

@@trailcairn1717well deserved congratulations on that summit after last years difficulties. This side from main trail is more scenic anyway I think. Great strategy staying at Trail camp with water nearby and rest before and after summit day 👍 Looks like that worked out.

Did you take Diamox before hand?

No. I acclimated 4 nights at Horseshoe Meadow, Cottonwood Lakes, and Cottonwood Pass, which is 10,000 - 11,000 feet elevation. I also overnighted at Trail Camp 12,000 feet before hiking to Whitney summit. I had no altitude sickness.

Trail running shoes or hiking boots for the Mt Whitney?

Topo Athletic ultraventure 3 Trail Runners. My feet got wet crossing 3 streams, but they dried within 1 hour. Very comfortable, no blisters.
They also double as 'camp shoes' by removing insoles.
