Trail should be opened... hike at your own risk. I've hiked trails nearby with obvious storm erosion and had no problems. They are taking away our right to recreate on US Forest land.

July 12, 2024 I will add there are at least 4 spots on the switchbacks where the trail is partially or completely obliterated. I had to hang onto the side rocks to step over 2-3 foot missing trail sections. Depending on your risk tolerance, you may or may not even notice these missing sections 🙃 Few people brought required Bear Canisters. Used WAG BAGS everywhere! Bring back the latrines!!!! No...

Any suggestions on how to clean transmission from coolant contamination. I had the SMOD happen to mine at 210,000 miles. I replaced radiator and coolant side of things are fine. I keep draining transmission and filling only to find that it is still Strawberry Milkshake.
My suggestion is to continue draining transmission until you no longer see milky fluid. Cheaper than a new transmission, just lots of elbow grease and $$ fluid. I'm sorry this has happened to your beloved Ridgeline. I've heard others say to keep draining until clean will fix this situation without long-term damage. Good luck 🙏
I just painted my ridgeline purple!
Excellent 🟪 !!!
Going to KY this weekend to buy a 2014 SE black. One of the last Gen 1 Ridgelines made. It has all the options, but I think I will add the step bar and backup sensors. Full size spare is a great idea.
Added rear camera to my 06 rtl with all factory options. Added to nav!! Life saver. 172k❤
Instead of replacing your radiator, bypass the transmission heater tube inside the radiator. You certainly don't need it in the desert. There is a separate transmission cooler
Great suggestion. Unfortunately, it does get cold here during the winter in the desert. I also travel up to the mountains outside Vegas where it snows and temps drop down close to zero.
Dealership is ROBBIBG YOU.
Thank you 🙏🙏
Your video is absolutely mesmerizing! The landscapes are captured so beautifully. Thanks for sharing these amazing views! sub & 👍5
Thank you very much! Welcome to the channel ✨️
Incredible! Definitely wanna walk to that one.
I figured the last part must be a rock scramble because I could make out with my phone camera the people at the top of clouds rest. I was in Yosemite Sunday- Tuesday. When you started it was cold. I hiked to May Lake.
Beautiful hiking in Yosemite. Glad you got to enjoy this time of year. Clouds Rest was amazing! I want to hike to May Lake. I'm sure it's gorgeous.
Awesome photos 🙌 Great views
I'm definitely returning with a backpacking permit. Probably overnight at Gem Lake with day trip over Morgan Pass to log cabin at Lower Morgan Lake.
Wow, this is too cool. And encouraging, I’m always worried about crowds in Yosemite so I don’t drive all the way up there. Looks like you timed it right.
You def should go. You would make it up to Clouds Rest for sunrise 😊 It's amazing up there!
Beautiful reflections on the lakes, great views!
Hey, nice to meet you on the trail this weekend! I’ll watch out for your videos. Happy hiking!
Hi, it was great meeting you too! Take care
If facing the rear window, look on the passenger side of bed. Kinda closer to the window, you will see a small plastic plug on the right side of bed. Pull plug out. You can mount your spare with the original center screw that holds the spare. I have not tried a full size tire yet, but it works with the donut.
Excellent. Yes, I'm aware of the spare tire mount on the bed, but I don't like leaving it there as someone might want to permanently "borrow" it. 😒 I've not tried to mount the full-size spare there. I doubt the hardware will work cause it's probably too short. Let me know if you try it.
Just getcha a locking brace lol. I love my 2013 sport, just now got my headliner done (bad for 1st gens) LED bed, map, dome, ect. and LASFIT headlights. BTW, Mechanic friend of mine said if power steering pump goes out, get a third party (not cardone) BBB looks like a good brand. He said not to get a honda power steering pump, he said, don't know why, they are crap...
Love my 2006 RTL :D
Keep giving your RTL tlc 🤙
I just bought a 2008 with 100 thousand miles, but the rear frame is rusty. I dont pay attention to that so I will try to figure out how to fix or put on sale
Thank you it’s on my list
they can handle the 110 degree Vegas heat. I didn't know that.
They are happy asses in the desert heat ♥️ as long as there's water nearby.
Nice crisp morning, thanks for having us along! Cool to hear your thoughts on your Whitney experience. Highly recommend going back. First time is overwhelming, but it keeps getting better.
Yeah, I'm thinking of a repeat but from Kearsarge Pass out the portal.
haha I was there yesterday with my 06 Ridgeline camo out!
LOL now that's a coincidence 😅
Wow, cool to see the erosion. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video and hike. Thank you for sharing. Wishing you a wonderful week and a fantastic day 😊
Thank you for the sentiment. Same to you. Nature yourself 🌞
Are there bristle cone pine trees there? I'm glad to be in Northern Cali now while the the inland is very hot.
Yes, there are beautiful Bristlecone forests here. Jealous that you're in gorgeous NoCal and cooler weather. It was 108 F today 🥵 I'm ready for fall 🍂
I’m thinking of buying the 2024 ridgeline or the sienna 2022. What are your thoughts . I need to be able to sleep in them for traveling. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I would buy a Sienna AWD to travel and sleep in.
@@trailcairn1717 I’m just not to sure about those new hybrids, and the fact that the 2022 hybrid siennas has no spare tire. Just a can of fix a flat. That’s not going to help if I have a blow out on a mountain in the middle of nowhere where with no phone service. 😳
I didn't know Siennas were hybrid and didn't have spare. You can sleep in the Ridgeline, but you cannot get comfortable in the back seat if you're tall. I'm 5'7" and sleep in the fetal position.
You’re hiking alone/solo?
I always hike/backpack solo. I carry Garmin InReach in case of emergency.
Trail running shoes or hiking boots for the Mt Whitney?
Topo Athletic ultraventure 3 Trail Runners. My feet got wet crossing 3 streams, but they dried within 1 hour. Very comfortable, no blisters. They also double as 'camp shoes' by removing insoles.
Did you take Diamox before hand?
No. I acclimated 4 nights at Horseshoe Meadow, Cottonwood Lakes, and Cottonwood Pass, which is 10,000 - 11,000 feet elevation. I also overnighted at Trail Camp 12,000 feet before hiking to Whitney summit. I had no altitude sickness.
wow we were the campsite next to you where you mentioned people just getting there that afternoon
th-cam.com/video/V8fqCE3avjs/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=PrimalMindOutdoors your tent is at the 4:36 timestamp I believe
Awesome! Were you guys able to summit?
@@trailcairn1717 yeah we summited the next morning. it looked like it was going to storm but luckily it passed
Very nice. Great job. You could probably see a long ways from up there.
Thank you 🙏 Yes, the views all around were fantastic!
Was there any thunder and lightning with the rain during this trip?
There was definitely thunder. A clap of thunder woke me at 3am along with rain. Because I was asleep, I don't know where the lightning bolt hit or if it was just cloud to cloud. I was surprised that there was a lightning storm so early in the morning.
Woo! Way to go, look forward to the video.
Thank you 😊 I ♥️ Mt. Whitney
@@trailcairn1717well deserved congratulations on that summit after last years difficulties. This side from main trail is more scenic anyway I think. Great strategy staying at Trail camp with water nearby and rest before and after summit day 👍 Looks like that worked out.
Thank you, it was a wonderful trip.
The pits all over Nevada. Mainly in the higher elevations. There are quite a few behind Summerlin. Many were destroyed to build homes in Summerlin and the SW valley.
I know and it's a shame how $$$ talks.
You almost lost me with that " Global Warming " comment but I decided to stick with you for the rest of the video. Thank you for the tour. I am planning to visit Parhranagat later this year. Thanks again.
Thanks for taking a chance on me 😃 Enjoy your visit!
great idea about the full size spare I will do the same with my 2014 ridgeline
I'm jealous that you have a 2014 🤗
Just hit 500k km, just keeps going!
Wow excellent! What year is your Ridgeline?
@@trailcairn1717 2009, just regular oil changes and the timing belt has been done 3 times. Struts / shocks for the first time this Friday. Oh and Krown spray every fall.
@alexd.3246 Have you done the high pressure steering line and pump yet? Good thing you do the Krown every year as rust is the downfall of this truck.
@@trailcairn1717 yes, pump has been done twice and lines once. Also had the rad replaced at 350k . When the mileage is this high everything is a wear item 😀
Most of my wear items started going at 13 years and 160,000 miles. Enjoy your amazing Ridgeline!!!!
I love the end lmao. If someone rear ends you - it is their problem 😂
I saw a lot of snow up at Sonora Pass (9,624 ft) couple days ago, but its melting fast judging from the fast moving river below it.
Thank you so much for the trail report. I've read Whitney MT switchbacks are flowing with snow melt. 🤞 that I don't have to pack an ice axe. Be safe out there 🙏
Yep radiator fittings, water pump, any seals, all fitting for suspension. brakes and pads, tires tread, check underneath the back seats for the supporting bar to check to see if it's fitting into the seat, easy fix, check underneath the carpet to see if there is water do the same thing up front of the cab to see if the sunroof is leaking. Check the locking cable for the trunk bed storage easy fix just need to look for the cable with the ball at the end that goes into the unlock on the lid of the trunk storage, just need zip ties to fix it. check for yellow tape on the cable pull back and zip tie it. Make sure if you get one get a inspection on rust too. Either don't buy that one or if it's just a little bit take care of that first.
How are they for road
The thick midsole absorbs the lugs pretty well on the roads so they don't poke into your feet. They also grip the road during dicy weather conditions. They grip nicely on light snow-covered trails.
Thanks for the info 👍 😀
Get a small camper, they have cheap notes just about $120 and up to about $250 if you get the smallest ones.
You do have awesome videos.... thanks. I was wondering what happened to the ridgeline? Id like to buy a gen 1, but also looking at f150. They seem huge to me. What is your current vehicle? Thanks again!
Thank you. I sold the Ridgeline and purchased a Honda Pilot AWD to camp out of... more comfortable. The Ridgeline was great for 17 years. If you can find a 2014 in good condition, I'd buy that before going with a Ford F150. Just my opinion. Take care 🙏
So what IIIIIIII do is remove my front passenger seat. It’s a game changer I promise. I level out the floor bumps with various folded U-Haul blankets. Super easy. Allows me to stretch out and it’s easy to exit from the front passenger door without ooching too much Actually opens up a lot of room for storage and organizing and you’ll have easy access to your ignition and ventilation controls/fir cracking open or closing windows. I also have window visors and slip on mesh window screens from Amazon. Also using the right rear seat folded down turns it into a pretty cozy lounge 😃
Wow excellent! Love your setup.
I think you will find gas mileage will drop with the AT tires. I have the Cooper AT3, and I average about 13mpg.
Definitely a drop in mpg
How tall are you?
5'7"
can you stretch out completely?
No. I'm sleeping in a fetal position.
@Trail Cairn what size spare is in the truck bed? My donut is useless and I tried both 215 and 225 on an original rim (not spare) and still won’t fit inside the locking truck bed.
OEM P245/65 R17
How are those kuhmo tires holding up? Thoughts? How many miles since
I replaced them after 32,000 miles with Falken Wildpeak Trail. Wildpeak is an excellent tire. Better than Kumho. My 2 cents
@@trailcairn1717 did you realize the kuhmo not so good quality? I’m looking at a used set of alloy wheels that have the kuhmo on there and I’m not sure how they’ll hold up I usually drive very fast and hard too
If you're not driving off road using AWD, then the Kumho are fine. I needed a more rugged off road tire which is why I got the Wildpeaks. Sounds like you're getting a nice set of rims and tires 👍
exactly about the toe issue i was asking myself.. thanks
NB hiero v7 is better has much more stability and has much more interesing foam. Forefoot is eaven vider than in trabuco. I have both. Trabuco and speedgoat are completly difrent shoes and compering it doesnt hawe a any sens. About speedgoat there is a mafatespeed also. Nice cuschion good control and much better then speedgoat but not too good for streat walking. I am using for long hiking hoka stinson. Good impact, very good stability, pleanty of room in forefoot, very good for a streat and also for a woods. Kind of all terrain shoes. And cuschioning much better than in bondai or trabuco becouse of stability with it and the impact back is super great. Con is that driving in car is a little bit difficult.
Excellent feedback! I'm going to look at Hoka Stinson for this summer's hiking. Thank you 🙏
