Good review. Americans do like their cars to have power, but at what cost, our opel insignia also has a 2 litre engine, with a fair bit lower bhp. 140 some go up to 160. europeans go mostly for diesel engines, but here is the reason we choose this type of insignia, fuel consumption 76 mpg. with a combined cycle of around 60 mpg. Quite frankly, your type of insignia would not sell well here, emissions on our car are C02 98 mgs. Which would mean Zero road tax in England, and 180 euro road tax for the year in Ireland, which is very low for Ireland. I do agree with you that both cars look well on the road, i am guessing your one has a boot, or trunk i should say, we go mostly with liftbacks as they are more useful than a boot.
I wonder would you if given the choice, chose a european spec buick regal, with european fuel figures, and the same basic look of the regal. I would hazard a guess and say not, but thats fine, each to their own, but, damn, 22 mpg. but then again, what you pay for a gallon of petrol, we pay the same for 1 litre. The video ended kind of all of a sudden, i was just starting to enjoy the spin.
It seems that American automakers only build for pwr and not fuel efficiency. I would love if we sold more diesel engines here. It would save us hundreds of $$$ because our destinations are so much further to drive and it's almost a must to have a car in most cities. I lived in Germany for 8 yrs and places were so close that you really didn't need a car. But when you did want to go somewhere a car was needed, getting there didn't take much fuel. I'll be getting the new 2018 Insignia Sports Tourer (Regal TourX) soon. While I do love the car, I wish it did have better fuel economy... and a 6sp manual gearbox to go with it lol.
michael, your mpg is not the same as ours... it is not an equal measurement

How is the Regal after a few years of owning it? I had a 2012 Regal Premium with the 220 hp turbo 4 and at 90,000 miles had the timing chain starting to go out. Made a chirping sound intermittingly. Just wondering if it was a freak thing or something that engine is known for. I have considered buying that exact spec you have.

Which is better all arounder . the Volvo s60 or regal gs ? Same generation. Leaning towards the regal gs with 6 speed manual. Does the Volvo come in a manual?
Nice video. What color is this? Gave up on finding a G8 GT and started looking for one of these. Just missed a silver 14 with AWD and 20's that was just near me. I found a 15 awd in black diamond tricoat. Not sure how I feel about the color. Has all options except 20s, including both confidence packages and is certified. Would you still recommend getting one of these? It will be a DD for me. Thanks.
vettepwr23, the technical color name for this is "Smoky Gray Metallic". It just so happens that I owned a G8 GT for a few years! I will say that the GS has a much better interior (in all aspects) and handles corners better than the G8 did. In terms of shear power, the G8 would have won hands down, but that's to be expected when the engine is 3x the size.
I would still recommend the car to someone if they were interested in a quick, AWD, turbocharged vehicle that offered a good suspension setup. There's a lot of cars out there that meet these criteria; however, they're typically German and come with a pretty hefty price tag. That's not to say anything is wrong with them, but for the price, it's really quite hard to beat the Regal GS. I will say that the AWD system was a must for us, and I would highly recommend you keep that in your criteria. When we drove the FWD variant, there was some torque steer. With a tune, this issue would only be multiplied.
In terms of reliability, the car has 60k miles and I believe we've owned it since 42k miles. We've had a handful of issues with the car, and unfortunately GM only covered one of the repairs under the power-train warranty (70k miles). We had the rear drive shaft fail (loud humming), the RR wheel bearing fail and a coil pack fail on cylinder 1. The only part that was covered by warranty was the rear drive shaft. I'd be lying if I said that we weren't frustrated with GM's lack of coverage on the power-train warranty, but that's completely outside of our hands.

Is there any type of manual shifting on the car? I don't see any paddle shifting option.
Chris, the shifter has a gate that allows manual shifting. It will automatically downshift to keep it from stalling, but it will not force an upshift.
About to buy one. Any issues with the gs so far? What color is that exactly? Nice!
Are the only differences between the GS and the normal Regal just the front bumper and rims?
Bumper. rims. brakes. a GS mode and muffler I'm sure I missed something

No foglights?
I found this quite odd myself Ryan. That is correct, there are no foglight on the Regal GS. I believe all of the lesser trims had them available, but it was eliminated when they were designing the front fascia on this trim.

Purchased and installed my own. The fogs actually replace the 2 fake plastic "vents" just in front of the front wheels. Looks great.

Dude...I dont know what you are doing with that microphone....but I had to shut off the surround....and then literally stop watching the video on the TV...which is too bad because its a nice car and a good review (aside from your sound issues) EDIT: wow tried to give your video another go but its frickin hurtin.....never heard anything like it in the last 20 years...LOL...and nobody says shit about it....I still will never understand what you are doing to get that "Bear-mauling-the-mic" sound.
