      @@83442handle It's more than just peak performance though. Those are workstations, If you look at 9:20 and 10:02, for extended, multi-hour workloads, The M2 Ultra handily beats the M3 max by a decent margin, even the M1 ultra beats the M3 max in most extended tests and has a tie/draws at worst....Many youtube creators are mostly doing tests that last less than 10 minutes......The laptops will eventually throttle a bit but the Ultra models won't, they have bigger, beefier coolers, power supplies and fans....not to mention, double the display engines, double the thunderbolt ports, double the amount of displays.....the M3 ultra will also support 256GB of memory....that plus 24 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores.....all that memory and cores are great for running multiple Virtual machines on up to 8 monitors.....Are the M-Ultra's overpriced, absolutely.....but they still have their place for those who need them.

    Blender is not optimized for the m3 ray tracing yet; Blender will add MetalRT, mesh shading, dynamic caching at some point and only then there will be the best results for 3d apps.

    • @Teluric2
      @Teluric2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No No. When your mac is not that fast is not optimization.
      Its funny how fanboys blame optimization when they feel scammed cos the mac is not fast as expected.

    • @teo__
      @teo__ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      in this video (in german) an M3 max reaches the same performances of an RTX4070 and is close to an RTX3090. Blender is optimized for Metal RT as far as I read on the web, but it has to be activated in the options. Is still is more expensive than a cheap PC with the same RAW performances, but not
      so much if you compare it with Dell's high-end laptops and seems promising for people who love the mac's battery life and design, and/or do photo/video editing and, seldom, 3D.

    As someone who purchased their first M1 Macbook Pro 13 inch about 4 months ago, I realllllllyy wish more people had liked the touchbar. It has become an invaluable feature for my music production as I no longer have to carry around a separate midi keyboard or be forced to use keyboard keys for playing notes. I don't think I will be upgrading until they bring that feature back which based on how much people hated on it will likely have to be in the form of having both the function row and touchbar at the same time so people can have the best of both worlds. For now M1 does all I need it to do for a reasonable price.

    • @developerTayfun
      @developerTayfun ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As you said, the real problem was the removal of the F keys. As a software developer, Function keys are indispensable for me. If the two were used together, touchBar could create a revolution. But in its current state, it is nothing more than a useless toy for us.

    • @drissalaoui9674

      I am getting same CPU but 64 GB ram and 2 TB machine. That is what I can afford. I am using it mostly for machine learning and chemical engineering modelling software (Aspen, Sima Pro). Do you think it is a suitable choice for my application? I think it might be overkill but I want a powerful machine that will last (not looking to upgrade for at least 5 years). I also want the added benefit of being able to edit and render footage seamlessly and maybe get into 3D modelling on Blender. Let me know what you think.

      14 or 16? I want what you’ve got minus the 128ram. 48 is enough for me. I’d love the 8tb of ssd but it’s so expensive and considering an external hub like LaCie big dock 32tb. But idk. Hello there,
    May I ask what version of Blender did you use to run the benchmark?
    There is a huge feature coming for RT capable M3's in Blender 4.0 that will dramatically speedup the compute and I was hoping to see it in action.
    I think it can be enabled in current 3.6.5 version in the settings, but it's still considered an experimental feature.

How about battery life M3 Max vs M2 Max?

  • @motionblurgamer
    @motionblurgamer ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Disappointed that they only included AV1 hw decoder and not an encoder. If you want to use a Mac to stream games to others you either have to use the low quality h.264 hardware encoder, the better hevc hw encoder that limits you to TH-cam streaming, or a slow CPU based AV1 encoder. Granted the SVT-AV1 cpu encoder is pretty fast, but is the quality that much better than x264 during real time encode?
    Essentially the AV1 decoder in the M3 Apple Silicon will only help with playback performance and battery life when watching other people stream. Hopefully the M3 Ultra will add AV1 hw encoding.

I've been wanting a laptop that can run on battery and have power to render even on battery since I use public commute a lot and sometimes in some places there's no way to charge. I want to go in a library to get in the focus zone. Or just work on my desk at home. I'll definitely be saving up for this laptop and make sure I get the extra RAM and storage in there.

    Hold it- I’m writing this at the 4:50 mark in your vid and while you spout all these benchmark tests the M3 Max beat the M1 and M2 Max, you didn’t indicate if the M1 and M2 were configured identically to the M3, as far as RAM and how similar as far as GPU/CPU cores. You did say you had 8 TB on at least one of your prior Max machines. Not to mention, the machine you spec’d is almost $8,000.

    I love how much you love Apple devices (i feel the same with your camera reviews). It's so enjoyable to watch when someone who wants to be impressed, wants to love a device, and then the device delivers on his expectations. Even if a viewer wasn't a fan of Apple (which I'm guessing most viewers of a channel with iPhone in his name probably likes Apple products), it still must be fun watching someone else having so much fun. It's much more enjoyable than some other channels that do whatever they can to find a problem with a device and focus on that alone, while ignoring anything positive about it. Thanks for another outstanding video, iPhonedo. Just like this MacBook exceeded your expectations, your videos always exceed mine. Have a great night man.

    @2:55 Disk Speed.. If I choose 4tb ssd instead of 8TB, rest all same configuration. Will the write speed will the be same? as shown in your video 8300 approx? or I need to buy 8tb ssd to get the same write speed like yours? Let me know.

    Nice work on your review.
    Can you do the test of running Stable Diffusion and DiffusionBee on that Beautiful beast? I kinda curious how much ram that it use when it comes to AI related topic.

    Hi I'm buying the MacBookPro M3 Max and would like to know which of these two configurations you recommend at the same price :
    M3 MAX CPU 14 + GPU 30 + 96 Ram
    M3 MAX CPU 16 + GPU 40 + 64 Ram
    More CPU/GPU or more RAM (for Cinema4D+Redshift) ?
    Thanks !

      If you're doing 3D computing you should without a doubt go for a 16 inch model, as it has better thermal dissipation, and 40 GPU cores as it is what gives you raw compute power

    Amazing review as always! I did the biggest mistake ever and bought a M1 Air with just 8 GB of ram for some video editing (while waiting for the M2 which I never bought). LOVE the machine - but should soooo have gotten at least 16 GB ram. Now I wanna go pro - but have two question: 1) How much RAM is needed? 128 GB sounds like A LOT (and is crazy expensive). 2) Fan noise! I got the M1 Air after having a fully specd Macbook Intel which sounded like an airplane. It seems as if the fans in the M3 Max are pretty loud too in your gaming test of the machine. How bad is it when rendering and for everyday use?

      Most pro editing apps recommend minimum 32GB of RAM, so 36GB version of the M3 MB Pro 14 Max would be a good choice.

      Go with at least 32GB, maybe even 48 or 64GB
