I have no issue with dark pools existing, but the problem with the dark pool is that they aren't being utilized for what they are designed for which is to exchange very large blocks of trades without wrecking price on the lit exchange. Instead they are primarily pushing through small size orders such as 1, 2, 5, 12, etc on the buy side through the dark pool, and pushing a bulk of sell orders through the lit exchanges which will suppress price more helping their short positions. That is dark pool abuse.

Of course if you are using them yourself you aren’t going to speak negatively about them lol Perfect example of how it impacts retail traders, I entered a trade and initiated a stop loss at my entry price in case of a quick retracement. As the day progresses I was 1 DOLLAR IN THE MONEY, and then a dark print came out of nowhere and stopped me out, wiping out my 1 dollar per share profit INSTANTLY! Think they are still harmless? SMH!!!

Guys be HONEST with your viewers please. Shawn is correct that dark prints DONT affect the price and/or general movement of a stock. BUT what Shawn is refusing to mention is how Dark Prints are used to knock you out of position and essentially “wick you out” of trades. Most traders have stop losses in place when they trade, these dark prints trigger your stop losses and knock you out of the trade. It has happen to me on more than one occasion. If you guys are going to mention this subject then please talk about ALL of the pros and cons. People will respect you more for it.

The unregistered and unregulated, no reports to FINRA or the SEC, dark pools by the names of Citadel Connect and Virtu vEQ link... A free and fair market aye? Dark pool
Trading exists to “not tip their hand”. Free trading exists for retails to tip their hands to folks in the dark pool. The system is VERY rigged. But the system still pays

Seems as a new trader the dark pools these days are used to drop the shares on the lit markets like gme to suppress the strikes on the option chains to prevent the market makers from fulfilling exercised itm calls to level the playing field for market manipulation. They get premium no matter what but also keep the levels they want on the ticker week by week.

@@Opulence111 it has nothing to do with being a jerk. It is a fact that you are new to trading with that statement. You would not make that statement if you’ve ever been a victim of a dark pool print. Trade for more than a year and come back to your statement. I GUARANTEE within in that time frame you will think differently. I personally have been wicked out of a trade (by a dark print) and lost 3K in profit because of it. It has ZERO to do with “ learning from the players” . There is nothing to learn. You don’t see it on Level II or anywhere to properly prepare for it. It’s the equivalent of a sucker punch. Understand now? Just be glad it hasn’t happened to you… “yet”
