I will say I’m in a good spot in life but it was mainly your videos and lessons in Stormworks that unlocked my true interest in engineering. I’m starting college classes soon that work is willing to cover for me! Thank you!

I’m one of the ones who didn’t apply myself in school but when I got out into the field as a millwright and worked my way to the precision side doing alignments and layouts and there’s some math involved but nothing crazy. I love your videos man I’m really thinking about entering my boat in the next contest.

As someone that's been through it I can say one of the biggest hurdles are other engineers that see you as a threat.

i can confidentally say that if i wouldve never found stormworks, i wouldve never known that i wanted to become an engineer, and looking at the job i think that i was made with the right traits for the job, of course i doubt myself but thats just a natural part of having at least some kind of skill. with motivation i'll probably just push through when the day comes

This is a great vid, im planning to be a naval architect( a person that designs ships). Right now im worried about my math because I frequently find that ill forget equations and other stuff like that, which can make school work really hard and even now im still worried that im good enough for college. I also struggle with finances especially since the college i want to attend is very far away and my parents dont have money for college funds.

Engineering student here, I used to suck at maths and struggled in a similar way. I started engineering struggling alot with maths, I actually failed a math topic in my first year. Never let that discourage you. If you really want to be an engineer, then you will overcome that. My biggest advice would be ask questions alot, like whenever you are stuck, just ask. The other thing is take plenty of notes and practice.
Practice and good notetaking is essential, without it you will not pass. There is alot of different concepts and topics that you are being taught and it can be hard to stay on top of it, especially towards exams. Taking good notes means that when you are practicing or doing a quiz or homework, you already know what formula or approach you need and whatnot.
I understand your struggle as I went through the same thing, just stick with it. Mathematics is my favourite subject now and my grades are alot better now compared to when I started. Maths doesn't have to be hard, you got this!

    Engineering question:
I have personally always wanted to be an engineer (at least since I was 6).
I'm doing terrible with remembering the correct NAMES of the formulas and expressions, but I can always do them. this has caused my Mathematics grades to drop significantly.
I still have high enough average grades to get in to Engineering University.
My question is as follows, do you think it is then a bad idea, based on the above background, to go to University, should I just look at another trade?

I've had similar problems in my own math classes, and I'm just in community college.

Hey, I am a second year engineering student. I wouldn't worry too much about it, if you can apply the concepts and you understand them then you will be fine. If not, ask plenty of questions and take as many notes as possible.

University isnt fair. When you have. the opportunity, cheat. Sometimes even knowing the exact questions in the next exam cant help you. We had numerous exams where we knew exactly what was gonna be in it and still like 80% of us failed. Take every opportunity where you can take shortcuts, offer some guy beers for him to do some of your work, take the exams at a later date so you know what to expect, skip the classes you are good at so you have more time to prepare for the struggle of others. Also there are usually classes that are made to filter out the ppl. Just somehow survive those. And go to as many uni events as you can, you can meet some good guys there who can maybe help you in the future. Grouping up helps a lot with the pressure. And if you feel like you are burning out just passivate a semester. As my old teacher said university isnt about being smart, its about enduring. You can be the stupidest guy but if you just manage to pass somehow you get the same degree as the guy who was top of the class. And if your prof proposes a passing grade, just accept it no matter how bad it is, it takes off pressure
