    Looks good, I am planning on swapping an r2.8 into a first gen gmc canyon, hope it fits as good as yours does.

      Haha! Thanks man. I am willing to bet you will have a bit more real estate to work with. These Toyotas are small.

    This. Is. Awesome. I’ve wanted to see someone use the repower motor. Excited to see what you think. Doing a 2.0 tdi in a ranger because of cost but if things go well with this swap I will probably be doing another one. Gotta sell the ole 7.3 to make room for some 4x4 low maintenance cheap to operate diesel swaps.

    I want to do this to my Tacoma. All I need is $10K and some talent!

      1kzte is pretty much bolt in from what I head except shortening the fuel tank wiring harness I'm told. So long as you have a 1st gen tacoma.

    Will you do an install for me on a 94 Toyota 4runer, its 2nd gen, has a 3l v6 in it. And what about a transmission, is it an adapter plate what needs to be done or changed, and fuel system

    What is the most compact/strong /trans/transfer case combos one could use for these first gen Toyota’s R2.8’ swaps? Is the NV4500 with a FJ60 Splitcase to big for these trucks?
    Thanks! Awesome job so far! Anything you would have done differently?

    I’m wondering if you could have snagged a Hilux TDI from Asia or some place where they’re available in left hand drive, shipped it here, and accomplished a similar end for less money. I’m not criticizing your dedication to the project, the effort put in, or anything like that. I’m just wondering if that is even possible, and if so, might it be less costly. Curious.

    Nice simple design. Is that a 110v welder ? Not a fan at all for this type of stuff. Dont care what brand it is. Grind your millscale all the way off for better penetration esp with a 110v machine.

    Where are we at with this? After seeing this, I've decided to not do this conversion on my '84 and move forward with my '83 Hilux Longbed instead and am curious about what parts you are using i.e. intercooler, fans, etc. Any updates? I'm in Laramie BTW.

      @@RustyJunkExhibition Hey, finally got a few minutes and binge watched your progress on the Toyota.
      I still grin about you picking out parts we have used here at the mothership.
      Everything is looking good. It's great to see that in between NY and L.A.,, there's plenty of what made this country happen in the good years.

    What about the wiring? Are the r2.8 an electronic engine?

    • @RustyJunkExhibition
      @RustyJunkExhibition  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. It is a common rail computer controlled engine.

  • @johnc6466
    @johnc6466 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You think those engine mounts will be strong enough.

    • @RustyJunkExhibition
      @RustyJunkExhibition  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Don! If you're talking my welds, yes. If your talking the Mopar mounts, yes. The Mopar mounts are used in 4BT applications and were designed for engines with similar weight, and power level to the R2.8

    • @johnc6466
      @johnc6466 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rusty Junk Exhibition yep I was talking about your welder ones. I’m planning on swapping a 4bt into a 80 series and I’m wondering what the strongest engine mount design will be

    • @RustyJunkExhibition
      @RustyJunkExhibition  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnc6466 I fabricated the same type mounts for my 4BT Ford and they worked out great. 10 years later and not one issue. For the rubber mount you will need something stronger than what I used here for the 4BT. Look into poly versions or the 12 Valve mounts

    • @johnc6466
